Wipro ADR surge over 5% after Q1 profit grows 11%

American Depository Receipts (ADRs) of Wipro surged over 5% to hit the day's high of $3.12 on Thursday following its Q1 earnings where the IT service company reported an 11% growth in its Q1FY26 consolidated net profit at Rs 3,330 crore, compared to Rs 3,003 crore in the year-ago period.
ADVERTISEMENT The profit, attributable to the equity holders of the company, slightly exceeded Street estimates of Rs 3,233 crore.
The IT services company's revenue from operations rose marginally by 0.7% to Rs 22,134 crore, compared to Rs 21,963 crore in the year-ago period.
The profit after tax (PAT) declined nearly 7% sequentially, compared to Rs 3,570 crore reported in Q4FY25.Wipro also announced an interim dividend of Rs 5 per share for the financial year 2025–26. It has set July 28 as the record date. The interim dividend will be paid on or before August 15, 2025.
The company expects revenue from its IT Services business segment to be in the range of $2,560 million to $2,612 million, implying a sequential growth of -1.0% to 1.0% in constant currency terms.

ADVERTISEMENT The results were announced after market hours and Wipro shares traded in the red throughout the session before ending the day at Rs 258.75 on the NSE, down by Rs 4.05 or 1.54%.

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: In a major breakthrough in the several crore LFS investment fraud, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the city police arrested Dilipkumar Maiti, director of LFS Share Broking Company, from Kolkata on Friday. The arrest is linked to a pan-India scam where over 6,000 investors were defrauded with false promises of high returns. According to the police, the company lured investors by offering returns ranging from 20% to 36% and swindled them out of over Rs 1,000 crore. Maiti, previously in the custody of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for separate financial offences, was handed over to city police on July 17 and was remanded in their custody till July 22. In Maharashtra, the scam caused a loss of Rs 35 crore, including Rs 3 crore from city-based investors. The city police registered a case in Feb this year, acting on a complaint filed by investors who were duped by company agents Vinod Mane and Vinod Salve. The EOW previously arrested another company director, Syed Ziajur Rehman, in connection with the case. Varanasi: UP minister Ravindra Jaiswal on Saturday said all 380 registration offices in the state will have their own buildings embellished with world-class facilities. He said this while inaugurating and laying the foundation for eight registration office buildings costing Rs 18.56 crore. He remotely inaugurated the newly built sub-registrar office in Sagri, Azamgarh district. Additionally, he laid foundation stones for the assistant inspector general registration office and sub-registrar offices across various locations including Chandauli, Shravasti, Jay Singhpur, Maholi, Ramsanehighat, Lambhua, Sawayajpur, and Shravasti. "The decision to operate all 380 registration offices in Uttar Pradesh in their own buildings was made under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, with the aim of providing better facilities to the public. The registration offices will be hi-tech and equipped with modern facilities," he said. He said letters regarding the construction of registration offices were received from district representatives and officials, and arrangements for their own buildings are being ensured in those districts. "The foundation stone for the state's registration office will be laid in Lucknow on Wednesday," he said. The minister instructed the engineers of the executing agency to ensure that the construction of the buildings is completed on time and with directed officials that third-party inspections be conducted to ensure quality in construction work. All buildings will have the same colour, and there will be provisions for solar energy and water harvesting. Jaiswal instructed the sub-registrars to ensure cordial behaviour with people visiting the offices and to simplify and resolve their tasks. Additionally, he emphasised providing the best possible facilities to people. He assured arrangements to address staff shortages in registration offices to prevent work disruptions. During the programme, Dhirendra Kumar Saini, Assistant Inspector General Registration, Rajesh Kumar Singh, Assistant Inspector General Registration, Jaunpur, Pankaj Kumar Singh, Assistant Inspector General Registration, Bhadohi, Richa Pandey, Sub-Registrar First, Varanasi, Anil Kumar Mishra, Sub-Registrar, Gangapur Varanasi, Santosh Kumar Pandey, Sub-Registrar Sadar Jaunpur, Rakesh Kumar Mishra, Sub-Registrar, Madiyahu, Jaunpur, and District Informatics Officer Avinash Sharma were present.
