Kieron Bowie buzzing to tick off Hibs milestone as he reveals reason Rocky Bushiri key to his development
Kieron Bowie believes he is finally ready to become Hibs ' main man and that starts by leading the battle in Belgrade.
The newly-capped Scotland striker got his Premiership campaign off to a flier with a double in the win at Dundee.
It was Bowie's first 90 minutes for Hibs and his first for almost two years, when he was out on loan at Northampton for Fulham.
The 22-year-old has had a good pre-season and feels he is now over the injury problems that curtailed his start at Easter Road.
Bowie has started all three games and is in line to do the same when David Gray's side go into the first-leg of their Europa Conference League qualifier against Partizan Belgrade.
He said: 'It was a tight game and they were really compact at the back, so the chances came from nothing really.
'I scored six goals last season in a limited number of games, so I'm just trying to score as many as I can this season.
'Towards the end of the season I started a few more games, but it was nowhere near enough as what I wanted.
'But I feel like now I'm fit enough and I'm strong enough that I can go out there week in, week out and play 90 minutes. That's definitely a big thing, it showed on Sunday.
'Definitely, if the manager wants to play me, obviously I'm going to play. I'm not going to say no, I don't want to play.
'I played 90 today, which is my first 90 for the club, so I'm glad to be able to do that. Obviously, off the back of a strong pre-season, I've been able to do that.
'The last time I played 90 minute was at Northampton, so that was two seasons ago.'
Hibs had the heartbreak of a late Europa League exit to Midtjylland in extra-time.
They rallied against Dundee and Bowie expects his team to be right up for things in their Europa Conference League qualifier in Belgrade.
Bowie said: 'Serbia will be a totally different challenge. Obviously the hostility and all that comes with playing there. But I'm sure we'll just take it in our stride and we'll roll on Thursday.
'I mean, obviously, it's really important for the club. We've done so well last year and we want to hopefully reap the rewards of that.
'The clubs haven't been in a European group stage, I don't think, so to try and do that and hopefully we can get our way in there somehow.'
Bowie knows Mijylland was disappointing but takes confidence from the fact they pushed a top team all the way.
He stated: 'I mean, obviously, you see we've done so well over the two legs.
'What was it, 200 odd minutes over two legs? And we limited them to very little.
'The three goals you can see, it's top quality goals and that's what you get when you're playing against top European teams who are well organised.
"They just allow one moment and they've scored a goal and you're like, oh my God.
'It's tough to take, honestly, during the week. They score a goal like that, that late. But what can you actually do? It's not like we've defended badly.'
Bowie knows if he can make his mark at Hibs he can add to the Scotland cap he won out in Liechtenstein in the summer, if he impresses Steve Clarke.
He predicted: I'm just sort of taking it in my stride and trying to score every week.
'If I don't score, I'm not going to be happy.
'Hopefully try and get in more Scotland squads and see what I can do.
'Yes, there's a few young lads there.
'Obviously James Wilson, Tommy Conway. And there's quite a few of us that are there that are all competing for a chance to play.
'Obviously, they've played a few more games than me, so I'm just trying to get my foot in the door.'
Bowie's sheer physical development is there for all to see and will be a big weapon in Serbia. He is big and powerful and likes to outmuscle defenders.
He explained: 'That's what I try to do, pride myself and just make myself as hard as possible to play against.
'I speak to the defenders that we have at the club, and they say what they don't like playing against, so I'm trying to do that myself. It's just awkward to play against.'
Rocky Bushiri is one of those Hibs defenders he turns to.
He added: 'Definitely. He's a big, strong unit, so you don't come up against many players that are stronger than him.
'So to train against him and do well against him in training, that's the highest level.
'What does he not like me doing? Anything! I just get the ball, he just lets me have it.
'He's like, nah, I'll just let you play, I don't want to hurt you.'

Rangers handed Champions League warning as Club Brugge seize initiative to edge towards crunch play-off round
One goal was enough to separate Gers two potential play-off opponents Rangers have been handed a warning by Club Brugge after their potential Champions League opponents took a big step towards the play-off round with an away victory against Red Bull Salzburg. Gers have one foot in the final qualifcation hurdle after thrashing Czech outfit Viktoria Plzen 3-0 at Ibrox in the first leg of their third round qualifier showdown on Tuesday night. Summer signing Djeidi Gassama continued his fine start to life at Rangers by bagging a brace while fellow new boy Oliver Antman capping off his debut with a superb assist. Should Russell Martin 's men finish the job in Plzen next week, then they will face the winner of the tie between Brugge and Salzburg for a place amongst Europe's elite in the money-spinning league phase. And it's the Belgian side who will be favourites to set up a showdown with the Light Blues after claiming a shut-out win on away soil, The clash at the Red Bull Arena looked to be heading for a goalless draw until the visitors struck with 16 minutes remaining through Romeo Vermant's goal. Rangers know that reaching the play-off will see them host the first leg at home on August 19/20 against Brugge or Plzen, with the return match taking place on August 26/27. And ahead of the potential showdown, the Ibrox club have taken advantage of the SPFL's new scheme to help Premiership clubs trying to get into Europe. Martin's side are due to face St Mirren in Paisley on August 24 but should they get past Plzen will then have that game postponed to a later date to boost their chances of qualifying for the Champions League. The same goes for Hibs who, if they can make it past Partizan Belgrade in the Conference League, will face Legia Warsaw or AEK Larnaca on August 21 and August 28. The capital club are currently slated to take on Falkirk on August 23. Son Heung-min completes move to Los Angeles from Tottenham in MLS record deal
It was revealed on Saturday that Son would depart Spurs following 173 goals in 454 appearances and months after he captained the club to Europa League glory. After an agreement between Tottenham and LAFC was struck for a deal in excess of £20million, the 33-year-old arrived in Los Angeles on Tuesday and a day later he has finalised his transfer, which is the highest fee paid by an MLS club for a player. In a post to Spurs fans on Instagram, Son, who has signed an initial two-year deal with LAFC with options for a further two, wrote: 'How to find the right words for this? I don't know. I have been thinking for days. It's impossible. But here I go. 'It's time for me to say goodbye to Tottenham Hotspur. My home for the past decade. When I arrived in 2015, I didn't speak English, I didn't know London, but you welcomed me with open arms, believed in me, and stood by me through every high and low. 'I was just a boy from Korea with big dreams who was supposed to have no chance. And now, 10 years later, North London is in my heart forever. Dear Spurs fans… Sonny's letter to you 🤍 — Tottenham Hotspur (@SpursOfficial) August 6, 2025 'I've made friends for life here, had the honour of becoming a godfather here, and had the privilege of captaining our special club here. I've poured my heart and soul into this club, which makes this the hardest decision ever. 'I thought if I was ever going to leave, it would have to be on my terms, on the best terms, when our mission had been accomplished together. With pride and honour.' Son joined Spurs in 2015 from Bayer Leverkusen. After a tough debut campaign the South Korea captain went on to become one of the club's best ever players and made himself a Premier League great in the process. A post shared by Son HeungMin(손흥민)🇰🇷 (@hm_son7) Alongside old partner in crime Harry Kane, Son holds the record for the most goal involvements by a duo in the Premier League, with the pair assisting each other on a record 47 occasions in the competition. The Chuncheon-born attacker also won the league's Golden Boot award in the 2021-22 season after scoring 23 times and he sits 17th in the list of all-time scorers in the division with 127 goals. Under former boss Mauricio Pochettino, Son's consistent displays helped turn Tottenham into genuine title contenders but silverware continued to allude them after a second-placed finish in 2017 was followed by a Champions League runner-up spot two years later. Whilst various members of Pochettino's team left not long after the Argentinian's winter departure in 2019, Son stayed to work under Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte before he was tasked with leading a new era by Ange Postecoglou. Postecoglou named Son as his captain in the wake of Kane's high-profile switch to Bayern Munich and Hugo Lloris' departure from the first team and after a roller coaster two seasons under the Australian, they achieved the holy grail together on May 21. Son was consigned to a place on the bench in Bilbao for the Europa League final against Manchester United following an injury-affected campaign, but was introduced to make his final competitive appearance for Spurs to help them win 1-0 and end a 17-year wait for silverware. It etched Son's name into the history books as he became only the fourth captain in Spurs' history to lift a European trophy after Danny Blanchflower, Alan Mullery and Steve Perryman. The popular South Korean will renew acquaintances with Lloris and move to Los Angeles, which boasts one of the largest Korean populations in the world, ahead of next summer's World Cup in the United States.
