Tunisian pro-Palestine convoy departs for Gaza on land

ALBAWABA - A large-scale land convoy consisting of a partnership involving several Tunisian pro-Palestine parties and organizations is set to depart for Gaza on Monday to protest the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Strip since Oct. 7, 2023.
The Maghreb Land Convoy, under the Joint Action Coordination for Palestine, aims to pressure Israel to lift its blockade of humanitarian aid on Gaza. Additionally, thousands of individuals will depart from Tunisia and travel through countries like Libya and Egypt to reach the Strip, as reported by The New Arab.
Thousands of volunteers will set off from several cities in Tunisia in a land convoy towards the Rafah border crossing between Egypt and Gaza, demanding entry to deliver much-needed aid, reports the Wafa news agency.

The organization released a statement that read, "The convoy will express solidarity with the Palestinian people under siege and deliver humanitarian aid to them."
It adds, "Participants in the convoy will head to the Ras Jedir crossing on the Tunisian-Libyan border, and travel along the Libyan coastal road to Cairo, then to the Rafah crossing on the Egyptian-Palestinian border, to deliver messages of solidarity and aid to the Palestinians in Gaza."
This comes after the Freedom Flotilla Coalition launched a similar joint effort involving 12 pro-Palestine volunteers, including Greta Thunberg, Thiago Ávila, Baptiste Andre, Rima Hassan, and more, who set sail a week ago for the Gaza Strip on board a small boat called the "Madleen."

Just before arriving at Gaza's shores, Israel surrounded the 12 activists with drones and showered Madleen with a white chemical substance. Additionally, the group was detained, and videos of the incident flooded social media with fellow human rights and pro-Palestine activists demanding their release.
The ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza has resulted in the killing of at least 54,000 Palestinians and the injuring of more than 124,800 since Oct. 7, 2023.
