The 30-year-old professional impersonator, of Manchester, told how meeting Ed face-to-face was like 'looking in a mirror'.
He is often forced to wear sunglasses and a hat because he gets stopped every time he goes to the shop.
And Ty admitted that he still struggles to convince his two-year-old daughter that the songwriter is not her dad.
Speaking to The Sun, he said: "Looking like Ed causes chaos - it's made me a bit of a hermit in my day to day life.
'I met Ed once at the Apollo in Manchester, but I didn't expect us to be the same height.
'I thought he would be a little bit taller, but it was eerily like looking into a mirror. He was shocked by the similarities too.
'Even my daughter she sees Ed and thinks it's pictures of her dad.
"I'm still trying to teach her, but it's not easy when I struggle to tell us apart sometimes."
Ty continued: "I'm not a very outgoing person and socially I'm not always the best, so it is difficult. It's a blessing and a curse.
"Quite often I'll wear a hat and sunglasses when I'm nipping out. Wearing a face mask during Covid was the best time for me, I felt like a normal person for once.
'I realise that I can never take a day off because to everyone else I'm always going to look like Ed. Whenever he gets busy, I get busy.
'Ed Sheeran lookalike replaces ring girl on Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn undercard'
'It's a job you can't leave and a mask you can't take off - I've accidentally become famous because of how I look!'
Ty gave viewers shivers when he sat ringside at the Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn fight in London in April.
During fights in the build-up to the blockbuster clash, Ty could be seen between rounds with other celebrity lookalikes David Beckham and Hannibal Lecter.
The dad-of-one was invited by Saudi Arabia's General Entertainment Authority to star as a 'tasteful alternative' to classic ring girls.
His surprise appearance along with the other lookalikes stunned fans and caused chaos at the venue, with hoards of people crowding him as he went to use the toilet.
One viewer said: 'Is that Ed Sheeran? Ed Sheeran is the ring girl.
'That has caught me completely off guard. What's going on here?'
It even prompted the Shape of You singer, 34, to come out on social media and clarify it was not actually him.
Responding to a viral video of his doppelganger, Ed replied: 'That ain't me bruv.'

Following his success at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, he was invited to appear in New York for the fight between US boxers Ryan Garcia and Rolando Romero just days later.
But Ty explained that a number of 'spooky' coincidences have led him to believe that the pair have more in common than just their looks.
He added: 'What I find weird is that we had a baby at the exact same time.
'His pregnancy was kept completely under wraps, but my wife had her baby less than two weeks after Ed's wife had hers. It's so spooky.
'I sometimes wonder if I'm a very distant cousin. I would love to get an actual DNA test of me and him.
'I've done a bit of research on where his family comes from and it turns out both of our families are from the same place.
'We have some heavy ancestry originating from the same place in Wexford, Ireland.
'It's crazy to think where the paths have crossed in previous generations, with our ancestors and relatives living in the same place all those years ago.'

A WOMAN who had a baby with an Ed Sheeran lookalike was at the singer's concert just hours after giving birth.
Ty Jones and his partner Amanda Baron welcomed their first child together in June 2022.
They called their daughter Cherry Rose - in a nod to Ed's wife Cherry Seaborn - and added the middle names Leigh and Sheeran.
And just hours after giving birth, mum-of-five Amanda, from Carrington, Gtr Manchester, was watching her idol in concert.
Having had barely any sleep, the couple went to see Ed perform at Man City's Etihad Stadium.
Amanda was introduced to Ty by pals who met him at one of the star's gigs.
Ty, who looks so like the Shape of You singer that he works full-time as an Ed-alike, said: 'I feel phenomenal. Cherry is beautiful.'
And Amanda, who is an Ed Sheeran superfan, said: 'She's perfect.'
Cherry Rose, who arrived three weeks early, was born at Wythenshawe Hospital weighing 5lb 6oz at 4.08am.
She said of the baby: 'I chose the name Cherry as it's so sweet.
'We also wanted to keep the Ed Sheeran theme in the family.'

Warhammer 40,000 games tournament at Scolton Manor

The event was organised by the Pembrokeshire Wargaming Club and took place at Scolton Manor, attracting 30 players and marking a major milestone for the wargaming community in West Wales. Liam Boulcott, founder of the club, said: "Just a few years ago, we were a handful of players meeting in small community spaces. "Now we're running the biggest tournament Pembrokeshire's ever seen, in one of its most beautiful venues. "It shows how far we've come—and where we're heading. "We've built something bigger than just a gaming group. "It's a supportive, welcoming community where people build friendships, learn new skills, and share a passion for creativity and storytelling." Players competed in a full day of strategic tabletop battles set in the Warhammer 40K universe, using intricately painted armies on custom-built battlefields. The tournament was organised by Mr Boulcott and club member Geraint James, who described it as 'a real high point for the club and for the wider tabletop scene in the region.' Founded shortly before the Covid-19 lockdown, the Pembrokeshire Wargaming Club has grown from a small group of hobbyists into a thriving community. During the pandemic, members stayed connected through virtual painting sessions, hobby challenges, and online game nights. Now, the club meets in person each week, welcoming players of all ages and experience levels. Their next major event, the Tenby Games Festival, is set to return in 2025 after a successful launch in 2023.

Bill Bailey responds to 'toxic' Strictly Come Dancing claims with honest verdict

Former Strictly winner Bill Bailey says he never witnessed anything that let him to believe the BBC dance show had a 'toxic culture' during his time behind the scenes Strictly Come Dancing winner Bill Bailey has spoken out about recent allegations surrounding the show's off-camera culture, and says he never witnessed anything of concern during his time on the programme. ‌ The comedian and musician lifted the Glitterball trophy in 2020 alongside professional dancer Oti Mabuse, during a series which was heavily impacted by Covid-19 restrictions. Bill has addressed the ongoing controversy, insisting he was unaware of any behind-the-scenes issues. ‌ In recent years, the long-running BBC dance competition has been plagued by allegations of misconduct and bullying involving both contestants and professionals. It comes after Strictly's Anton Du Beke shared heartbreak over wife's 'cruel and inexplicable' diagnosis. ‌ Sharon Osbourne breaks down in tears at Ozzy's funeral in heartbreaking scenes Sir Michael Palin says he is preparing for the end of his life in sad update. ‌ However, Bill has given a short response to the allegations of a 'toxic culture' as he told The Times: "I don't know anything about it to be honest. We were under Covid protocols. There was no carousing." In 2023, an independent investigation upheld complaints of verbal bullying by Giovanni Pernice towards his celebrity partner Amanda Abbington, although the most serious claims of physical aggression were not substantiated. Fellow professional Graziano Di Prima also publicly apologised after kicking Zara McDermott during rehearsals that same year. While these incidents have drawn significant media attention, Bill's experience on the show paints a different picture. He described his time on the programme as physically gruelling but ultimately positive. ‌ He explained: "It was hard. It's physically quite a tough thing to do and I don't think sometimes people realise what it takes to train. Certainly there's a lot of pressure on the pros to come up with the goods. It's a big gig, Strictly. There's a lot of pressure to choreograph, to look good." He also spoke about the high expectations that are placed on the professional dancers, adding: "A lot of dancers then become very well known in their own right. They get book deals and they appear on shows and it's a big thing. It's a big show." While Bill didn't personally witness any bad behaviour, some behind-the-scenes staff have described a less supportive environment. In reports shared with BBC News, unnamed runners claimed they were subjected to verbal abuse, mood swings and shouting by certain dancers and celebrities. One runner claimed: "I think it's awful for the celebrities who suffered, but I think for the crew it's a much bigger problem." ‌ A BBC Studios spokesperson responded to the allegations, saying: "The welfare and safety of our crew on each series has always been, and remains, our utmost priority." They added that the claims "do not reflect the experience of the hundreds of production personnel who have worked on Strictly over the past 21 years." Meanwhile, excitement is building ahead of the new series, with rumours swirling about who will be taking to the dancefloor this autumn. According to reports, trailblazing model Ellie Goldstein has signed up as one of this year's contestants. Ellie, 23, made history as the first model with Down syndrome to appear on the cover of British Vogue in 2023 and has also been honoured with her own Barbie doll. A source told The Sun: "Ellie is thrilled to be taking part in Strictly. She has broken down so many barriers in her career... and can't wait to show people what she can do." They added that the BBC is "incredibly proud" of the signing and believes she "could go all the way".
