A driver ploughed through a Scots mum's and a neighbour's garden while her children took cover inside.
A BMW driver has ploughed into an Edinburgh garden as terrified kids take cover in their homes.
Yesterday evening, Shona Halliday was at her house in Dalkeith when a motorist"came through the fence to her garden".

Footage from the garden shows the BMW 3 series on the lawn, with damage to the front of the vehicle and the wooden fence crumpled underneath.

Shona and her neighbour both have 13-year-old boys, who she said "could have been out playing in the garden".
Officers have since arrested a 32-year-old driver, who is due to appear in court on July 2. Police have said no injuries were reported.
Speaking to Edinburgh Live, Shona said: "This happened at 9.05pm last night on Thornybank Grove.
"He drove into the Woodburn pavilion car park, then drove right through the boundary fence through my garden and through me and my neighbour's fence. Then was trying to reverse back out.
"Neighbour and a bystander got him out the car and held him till the police came. No one was hurt but myself and my neighbour has 13-year-old boys who could have been out in the garden, such a shock.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: 'Around 9.05pm on Tuesday, 10 June, 2025, we received a report of a one vehicle crash on Thornybank Grove, Dalkeith.

'Officers attended, and no injuries were reported. The driver, a 32-year-old man, was arrested and charged in connection with a driving offence and is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Wednesday, 2 July, 20."
Earlier today, in a separate incident, we reported that two women have died in a horror crash on a busy Scots road, as another pensioner was airlifted to hospital.

Emergency crews rushed to the A98 near Enzie, Buckie, at around 12.30pm yesterday, Tuesday June 10, after receiving a report of a collision involving a Vauxhall Insignia and a Peugeot 2008.
Upon attendance the 32-year-old female driver of the Vauxhall and the 77-year-old female passenger of the Peugeot were pronounced dead at the scene.
The 77-year-old male driver of the Peugeot was taken by air ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, where hospital staff describe his condition as serious but stable.

Sergeant Dave Cooper from the Road Policing Unit in Elgin said: 'Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the two women who died.
'An investigation into the circumstances is ongoing and we would appeal for anyone who witnessed the crash who has not already spoken to officers, or those who have any dashcam footage that may capture either vehicle prior to the collision, to please come forward.
'If you can assist the investigation, please contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 1354 of 10 June.'

Scots mum furious as stranger approaches daughter on bus with sinister question

Stacey Waddell is raising awareness after the disturbing incident on a bus this week. A Scots mum is hoping to raise awareness after claiming a man asked her teen daughter if she wanted a 'draw of his vape'. The alleged incident happened at around 11.30am on Tuesday, June 10, while the 13-year-old was travelling home from school on the X28 bus service from Deans in Livingston. ‌ Mum-of-three Stacey Waddell, 35, says she was worried there was spice in the vape - a nickname for a lab-made drug - synthetic cannabinoid, reports Edinburgh Live. ‌ After the worrying interaction, the mum reported the incident to police and suitable advice was given to the family. Stacey said: "This all happened on Tuesday. She was sent home from school because she wasn't feeling well. "A male approached her who looked around 18 or 19-years-old. He said 'this sounds a bit strange but I have been asking a lot of people - do you want a draw of my vape?' "She said no and he watched her get off the bus. When she got home she told me everything and I had to explain to her that I had heard so many stories of people using vapes laced with spice. I mean this incident could have been innocent but I am glad she told me and didn't take anything." Stacey is hoping to warn other parents and also spread awareness around the dangers of vaping and drug misuse due to the fear of what's inside them. She added: "A lot of people get the X28 and X27 to school and I just want to warn people about what could be happening to children. ‌ "You just don't know what could be in these vapes. I have a dealt with a lot in the past. "I am always on high alert because I have a 16-year-old so I have to be aware of the dangers of drugs. It's a scary world out there, especially for bringing teenagers up. "Children might think what they are doing is innocent but they can't see what it's doing to their insides or what it could do to their mental health as well. ‌ "My daughter is only 13 so it's worrying we are having these conversations. I never had this when I was younger - children aren't getting to be kids anymore." A Police Scotland spokesperson said: 'Around 2.20pm on Tuesday, 10 June, 2025, we received a report of a man having approached a girl on a bus in the area of Knightsridge West Road, Livingston. 'Enquiries were carried out and no criminality was established. Suitable advice was given.'

Edinburgh armed police officer told 'last thing we need is another misogyny case'

More info A second firearms officer is suing Police Scotland over alleged sex discrimination following a controversial incident that was filmed and posted on TikTok. Greg Tunnock, 34, gave evidence at the Edinburgh Employment Tribunal on Thursday, June 12, following days of testimony from his colleague Steven Jones. Both men are embroiled in a legal battle sparked by an incident that took place on March 1, 2024. While on duty patrolling Scottish Parliament, the authorised firearms officers parked their vehicle to take photographs with Scottish singer Tallia Storm. Mr Tunnock was permanently withdrawn from the firearms unit in 2024 and today called the decision a "knee-jerk" reaction from Police Scotland bosses. Mr Tunnock claimed his actions were branded "misogynistic" and his superiors "only want good publicity". He added: "I thought it was a good bit of community engagement. In total, I'd guess [the interaction] was a minute from start to finish." Mr Tunnock filed the suit under a sex discrimination claim, alleging his treatment stemmed from a fear that the firearms unit was perceived as sexist. He believed female officers in the same position would have been treated less harshly. The officer also claimed his superior, Andrew Miller, became "irate" and said "the last thing the firearms unit needs is another misogyny case". Mr Tunnock told the court a permanent withdrawal from a unit was "extremely rare," adding: "The Police Scotland ethos is not to take purely punitive action. You learn from your mistakes." The officer spoke to the emotional impact of the ordeal after he was withdrawn from the unit. He said: "I felt absolutely terrible. I felt what happened was unjust. I felt sick physically in the stomach." Following the incident, Mr Tunnock told the court he was signed off work by his GP for anxiety and depression. He shared: "I felt horrible. I never felt so low in my life. At one point, I was contemplating suicide." During Mr Tunnock's leave of absence, he claimed a superior showed up at his home to check on him after a period away from his mobile phone. He said: "There was genuine concern I had harmed myself and how bad that would have looked. It was the only reason they checked in on me. They only want good publicity, they don't want bad publicity. 'Former officer found dead in home after knee-jerk reaction' - that's terrible press." Mr Tunnock also refuted his conduct was misogynistic and said the accusation took him "by surprise". He was particularly "upset" by the claim given that a female family member had been the victim of "controlling behaviour". He added: "I found it an inappropriate, knee-jerk reaction" and shared "it blows my mind" that he was withdrawn from the unit so soon after the incident without a full investigation being completed. Responding to former assistant chief constable Gary Ritchie's assertion from June 11 that the incident showed poor judgement and decision-making, Mr Tunnock said: "I find it difficult to compare life threatening decision-making with community engagement." The officer had hoped the photos with Tallia Storm could be a way for the force to "relate to younger people", a demographic he said Police Scotland struggled to engage with. The five-day proceedings began on Monday, June 9 and are presided over by Employment Judge Amanda Jones. The tribunal continues.
