NFL Writer Makes Major Jayden Daniels Claim

Heading into the 2025 NFL season, the Washington Commanders have to feel good about where they are at regarding their offense—especially when it comes to Jayden Daniels and the quarterback position.
Last year, the Commanders invested a major asset in Daniels. With the second-overall pick, the LSU star was sent to Washington. Going that high on a quarterback in the draft meant the Commanders had to get Daniels ready to perform and become the face of the franchise as quickly as possible.
With one year in the books, Daniels has gained recognition as a top quarterback in the game. And in the eyes of Bleacher Report's Alex Kay, Daniels is the league's most underpaid quarterback.

This has to feel like an obvious statement after seeing the rookie put together a season that not many veterans could match in 2024.
In 17 games, Daniels led the Commanders to a 12-5 record. He completed nearly 70 percent of his passes for 3,568 yards and 25 touchdowns. He threw just nine interceptions.
Also, being on the versatile side, Daniels kept the ball on the ground for 148 rushing attempts. He put up starting running back numbers with 891 yards and six touchdowns. With the team success, and the personal stardom, Daniels was easily the choice for the league's Offensive Rookie of the Year.

He's one of the highest-paid players on his rookie deal, since he was selected so high, but Washington won't have to give him a record-setting deal for a bit, leaving them with a superstar on a team-friendly deal.
"Despite this status, his locked-in rookie deal means he's only ranked No. 27 at his position in terms of average annual value, well behind some players who have made far less impact in recent years such as Daniel Jones ($14 million AAV), Justin Fields ($20 million AAV) and Deshaun Watson ($46 million AAV)," Alex Kay wrote.
"The Commanders have already begun to capitalize on this affordable deal, which runs through the 2028 season, by loading up on veterans such as Deebo Samuel and Laremy Tunsil to make another run. It's shrewd maneuvering by general manager Adam Peters, who knows he must take advantage of the small window the club has before Daniels goes on to earn what could be a record-setting contract extension well above the $60 million AAV deal Dak Prescott is on."
Daniels has a four-year contract, which is worth a total of around $37.7 million, according to Spotrac. In 2025, he'll play on a $2.5 million salary, taking up just $8 million on the cap sheet. To compare, Dak Prescott's cap hit is set at $50 million, while Jalen Hurts' is at $21 million.
The pressure gets heavier for Daniels heading into his sophomore season, but the Commanders are quite confident in what he brings to the table. They made plenty of moves to go title-hunting in 2025. If they can take care of business before paying Daniels the big bucks, this early run will be a major success.

Panthers training camp preview: How many roster spots will be available at WR?

With the Carolina Panthers set to report to training camp this week, it's time to take a look at the lay of the land. Which players are sure to make it through the summer and onto the team's initial 53-man roster? Are there any wild-card candidates who can leave a lasting impression in the coming weeks? And which battles are worth keeping an eye on? Here is our training camp preview for the Panthers' wide receiver position: Roster locks The Panthers, for the first time in franchise history, have now spent back-to-back first-round picks on wideouts. McMillan could be the true No. 1 target for quarterback Bryce Young while Legette will try to find his way after an underwhelming rookie campaign. Thielen, who turns 35 years old in late August, is back for the third and final season of his contract. He led Carolina in receiving over the first two, with 1,014 yards in 2023 and 615 yards in 2024. Coker may very well be Thielen's successor at the slot position. Like the savvy veteran, the 23-year-old youngster is a sound route technician with sure hands. Likely to make it Moore's connection with head coach Dave Canales, whom he also played under in Seattle and Tampa Bay, is strong. He proved to be a useful weapon for Young towards the end of 2024 as well, recording 35 targets over the team's final seven outings. Horn seems to have a high-profile connection too, but with president of football operations and general manager Dan Morgan. Plus, there may not be another receiver on this roster who has the speed that Horn does—as evidenced by his eye-opening display in the spring. On the bubble Renfrow missed the entire 2024 season due to a rough bout with ulcerative colitis. The Myrtle Beach, S.C. native, University of Clemson product and former Pro Bowler has an outside chance to complete a feel-good NFL comeback. Battle to watch If Renfrow does finish his story, he might have to do so at the expense of Moore. But Moore's past with Canales and his experience on special teams will give him the upper hand. Potential sleeper Speaking of Canales and special teams, the second-year play-caller certainly values the ability to play in the third phase of the game. And that will benefit Chisena—who could step up as a leader for the unit following the offseason departures of safety Sam Franklin Jr. and tight end Feleipe Franks. Interesting Details of Eagles' Super Bowl Ring Explained

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. On Friday night, the Philadelphia Eagles got to celebrate their Super Bowl victory once again. The 2024 roster gathered in Philly for a party, and each player received their unique-styled rings, designed by Jason of Beverly Hills. As always, the ring has plenty of important details that tell the story of the Eagles' entire 2024 season. Diamonds are a Bird's best friend — Philadelphia Eagles (@Eagles) July 19, 2025 In the word "Champions," there are 40 points of diamonds to represent the Eagles' points scored in the Super Bowl matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. On the wings of the rings, there are 0.9 carats to represent the six sacks and three takeaways in the Super Bowl. As dominant as the two-way effort was, the Eagles' defense was absolutely critical as they shut down the MVP-caliber quarterback, Patrick Mahomes. In order to get to the Super Bowl, the Eagles had a dominant regular season, which helped them gain home-field advantage in the postseason for the first round, at least. The bracket ended up giving them a home game for each playoff matchup. After a 2-2 start, they fired off 10 wins in a row, which proved to the NFL they were the real deal. On the Super Bowl LIX logo, there are 10 points of diamonds to represent that streak. In total, the Eagles finished the year with 18 wins. Therefore, there are 18 green stones on the ring. On the inside of the ring, there is a Brazilian flag, which is where the season started. Although it was an Eagles home game, the team played one of the few international games this year. The Eagles defeated the Green Bay Packers in Brazil to kick off their big year. Right under the flag is a motto, inspired by the head coach, Nick Sirianni. "Tough, Detailed, Together," it says. Under the motto is a list of scores throughout the Eagles' playoff run, which included games against the Packers, Los Angeles Rams, Washington Commanders, and the Chiefs. The No. 145 represents the Eagles' NFL record of most points scored in the postseason. Perhaps, the most popular part of the ring is the wings. With the hit of a button, they pop out. The five diamonds on the button are there to represent the five players who scored points in the Super Bowl (Jalen Hurts, AJ Brown, Cooper DeJean, DeVonta Smith, and Jake Elliott). It's all in the details — Philadelphia Eagles (@Eagles) July 19, 2025 Lastly, the wings have a hidden message, which also comes from Sirianni: "You can't be great without the greatness of others." While Sirianni has dealt with a lot of criticism throughout his tenure with the Eagles, he has overcome all of that and shines as a motivator within the organization. Clearly, his messages have stuck with the team and will remain with them forever, as the Super Bowl ring sheds light on those mottos. Super Bowl champ says he'd ask Trump to help get Redskins nickname back

Jason Buck was a defensive lineman for the Washington Redskins when the team topped the Buffalo Bills in Super Bowl XXVI during the 1991 season. The Redskins' name changed in 2020 to the Washington Football Team and then to the Washington Commanders. As the team begins to build a legacy as the Commanders, team owner Josh Harris has no plans of going back to the old name. President Donald Trump recently suggested that he believed the organization made a mistake changing the name. Buck, a Native American, told TMZ Sports he wants to talk to Trump about the name and would tell him, "Stand with us and stand for common sense. "It's like your grandma passed away, and your grandpa marries a new woman, and she comes in and takes all the pictures out of the house and puts hers up," he added. "It's like, you just lost your family. It was devastating to everybody." Commanders owner Josh Harris told Bret Baier on "Special Report" in April that, despite his plan to bring the team back to Washington, D.C., at the site of the old RFK Stadium, the Redskins name wouldn't be coming back. "The Commanders' name actually has taken on an amazing kind of element in our building," Harris said. "So, the people that certain types of players that are tough, that love football, are delegated Commanders, and Jayden [Daniels], for example, is a Commander, and they're ranked. "And, you know, the business staff has gotten into it, and, obviously, we're in a military city here. There's more military personnel than anywhere else. So, we're kind of moving forward with the Commanders name, excited about that and not looking back." While he may not have changed the name, Trump thinks any team that wins will stick with fans no matter what. That's exactly what Washington did last season, reaching the NFC championship game for the first time in almost three decades under new quarterback Jayden Daniels. "But, you know, winning can make everything sound good," Trump said earlier this month. "So, if they're winning, all of a sudden Commanders sounds good. But I wouldn't have changed the name."
