
Karnataka moves to cap movie tickets at Rs 200
Karnataka government
on Tuesday issued draft rules capping
movie ticket prices
across the state at Rs 200, inclusive of
entertainment tax
, reported TOI.
According to the report, stakeholders have been given 15 days to raise any objections or suggestions. If none are received within this period, the draft will be notified as final.
The proposed rules eliminate all distinctions between seating categories—such as balcony or premium seats—by removing the provision in the Act that allowed classification.

Junior movie box office collection day 2: Junior hit the screens on July 18 and opened to a good response at the Indian box office. According to Sacnilk, a trade website, it earned Rs 1.5 crore (nett) on the opening day. The Telugu-Kannada bilingual drama then continued its run on July 19. Junior marks the debut of Kireeti Reddy, politician Gali Janardhana Reddy's son. Junior shows growth on day 2 Kireeti and Sreeleela are in the limelight because of their latest film Junior. It has made a solid impact at the box office. According to Sacnilk, the flick earned Rs 1.65 crore on the second day. This is 10% higher than the Rs 1.5 crore it earned on July 18. Junior's Telugu version had an overall occupancy of 25.64% on July 19. The morning shows had an occupancy of 16.9%. The afternoon shows (25.66%) and the evening shows (24.78%) fared decently on this front. However, unsurprisingly, the night shows performed the best. They had an occupancy of 35.17%. It recorded its best occupancy in Guntur (51.5%). Junior also got good patronage in markets such as Chennai (30.25%) and Warangal (27.5%). The film, however, didn't do too well in areas such as Nizamabad (8.5%) and the NCR region (11%) The Kannada version of Junior, meanwhile, had an overall occupancy of 19.85%. It fared quite well in Tumkur (62.75%). Junior also made an impact in markets such as Raichur (32%) and Manipal (39%). It has received mixed reviews with critics praising the performances but panning the 'outdated' plot. It remains to be seen whether this affects Junior once the initial buzz fades.
