Holly Carpenter jokes about why her VIP Style Awards dress was 'almost too cheeky'

Holly Carpenter, whose VIP Style Awards outfit was certainly a showstopper, says she thoroughly enjoyed stepping out in an outfit that was dramatic and enormous fun, despite some wardrobe hazards.
Speaking to Extra.ie, Holly said: 'It was really, really fun to wear.'
'It was really playful. It was a camp. It was, you know, I think it was a bit cheeky.' Holly Carpenter pictured at the Platinum VIP Style Awards 2025 at the InterContinental Dublin. Pic: Brian McEvoy
'There was a bit of side boob, it was very low at the back. In fact, it was almost actually too cheeky, because it was literally my a**e cheeks were nearly out,' she laughed.
Holly was amongst the glitterati who pitched at The Intercontinental Hotel for Friday night's VIP Style Awards and says while she would have loved to have won Best Dressed on the night, she was thrilled her Miss Ireland friend, model Lyn Kelly, narrowly beat her to the award.
'Lynn Kelly actually won the best dressed on the night,' said Holly. 'Apparently it was very close, but I was like, 'I would have loved to win', but I'm delighted for Lynn and it was a great night and that's what it's really all about.' Holly's jaw-dropping gold dress and floral embellished flowing cape was designed by Irish courtier Sachin, whose pieces she favours.
'So there's a designer called Sachin and his clothing line is called SJW design, and he designed this whole thing himself.
'He had a vision, and I just went with it. I just totally trusted him. He has dressed me before. I wore a red dress with wet-look hair last year, the year before. It was my second time wearing his pieces, and he's just so talented.'

The aspiring swimwear designer and founder of the brand East x East was pronounced dead at the scene after CPR was performed to no avail. Her heartbroken mother Elma and sister Jacqui flew to New York to bring back Martha's body after it was released by the Suffolk County Medical Examiner's Office. Funeral arrangements were posted this morning stating the young woman's funeral will take place in her home town on Wednesday. It read: 'Martha Nolan of 36 Monacurragh, Carlow and The Upper East Side, Manhattan, New York, passed away unexpectedly, on August 5th, 2025. 'Beloved daughter of Elma, much loved sister of Jacqui, treasured granddaughter of Betty and Liam, cherished niece of John, Michelle, Barry and Mona and adored partner of Nick. It was reported last week that an autopsy found no signs of violence including no defensive wounds or evidence of trauma. However, according to the family's New York based attorney, Arthur Aidala, there is still a very intense investigation focused on why a young woman is dead. CARLOW ROOTS While Martha grew up in Carlow, she studied in UCD's Smurfit Business School and went on to work in finance and marketing. She moved to New York ten years ago, where she had been living on the Upper East Side of Manhattan and had no plans to move home. She started as a bottle service girl in SoHo in downtown Manhattan before founding her own businesses. The designer co-founded East x East, a swimwear line, and fashion accessories brand Duper. She recently celebrated a major milestone when the brand, with the tagline "Built in the City x Made for the Sun", had its own pop-up shop in The Hamptons. Martha's former school, Leo's College in Carlow, previously paid tribute to her, saying: "We were deeply shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of our former student Martha Nolan O'Slatarra. "Our heartfelt condolences to her mother Elma, her sister Jacqui, her extended family and wide circle of school friends. Martha was a bright and talented student. "May her gentle soul rest in eternal peace." 4 Her funeral will take place on Wednesday Credit: TikTok/martha_nolan
