Galaxy disciplines fans for rule violations while protesting team response to ICE raids

The Galaxy have banned a fan from the Angel City Brigade support group following the July 4 match at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson. The team has also restricted access for other fans accused of harassing the MLS team's management.
Bruce Martin, a 12-year Angel City Brigade member, was banned indefinitely for using a press credential to bring a banner into the stadium not authorized by the team, according to a letter sent to Martin informing him that he cannot attend any Galaxy games in Carson or any other events at Dignity Health Sports Park.
Fans from the same group have been suspended indefinitely for harassing members of Galaxy management, according to a person with knowledge of the decision not authorized to discuss it publicly.
During the home game against Vancouver, fans of the Angel City Brigade, founded in 2007, walked in with several banners protesting immigration raids in Southern California since June 6. Some of the protest banners blamed AEG, the owner of the Galaxy, for remaining quiet while fans were harmed by raids.
Angel City Brigade fans, traditionally located in Sections 121 and 122 of Galaxy's stadium, left the game at the 12-minute mark in protest. Other groups, such as Galaxians, LA Riot Squad and Galaxy Outlawz, joined them by keeping quiet during the match.
'We have not issued a statement. We recognize the impact that recent events and actions have had on our community,' Galaxy spokesperson Jamie Álvarez said. 'For decades, we have honored the rich backgrounds, cultures, and experiences of our fans and staff. Our purpose as a professional sports organization is to unite and support our community around a shared love of this sport. We are focusing on prioritizing the safety, well-being, and sense of belonging for our staff and for our fans.'
The Dodgers, another team with a large Latino fan base, were also criticized for not saying anything at the beginning of the raids and ultimately pledged to make a $1 million donation to families affected by the raids.
Martin, who last season released a book titled 'This is Where My Heart Lies: Through the Eyes of a Supporter,' chronicling his passion as a Galaxy fan, revealed the letter on social media in which he is vetoed. Martin said he was heartbroken by the decision, but fans have supported him and his cause.
'A large percentage of the [Angel City Brigade] has canceled their season tickets,' Martin said. 'There are a lot of fans around MLS who have reached out to me. It's one of my favorite things about the soccer community — how close we are.'
The support from Angel City Brigade, Galaxians, LA Riot Squad, Galaxy Outlawz and other fan groups play a major role in making the Galaxy's home field at Dignity Health Sports Park a fortress, a stadium where the team did not lose all of last regular season and where it won its sixth MLS title.
On July 12, fans also stopped chanting in protest of 'the silence of the L.A. Galaxy' in the face of immigration raids
'We recognize that the volume in the stadium is different,' Galaxy coach Greg Vanney said following the team's game against D.C. United. 'As I've said before, the fans have a right to take whatever stances they want and our job is to go out and try to win games. We want the fans to come, we want them to feel safe, we want them to feel like this is their club and the place they want to be, and we try to do our job on the field to help make that happen.'
The Galaxy approved the giant tifo used on July 4, which featured three Hispanic figures and a message that read, 'Fight Ignorance, Not Immigrants.'
According to the team spokesperson, the club has had multiple discussions — before and after the July 4 game — in individual and small group meetings with leaders of Galaxy supporter groups to try to resolve the issue. The Galaxy works with community groups such as CARECEN [Central American Resource Center,] Heart of Los Angeles and All Peoples Community Center, among others.

Pec has 2 goals, Yoshida scores in stoppage time for Galaxy in 3-3 tie with LAFC

LOS ANGELES -- Gabriel Pec scored two goals and Maya Yoshida added a goal in the seventh minute of stoppage time for the LA Galaxy in a 3-3 tie with Los Angeles FC on Saturday night. Eddie Segura was shown a straight red card (violent conduct) in the first minute of stoppage time and LAFC played a man down the rest of the way. LAFC (10-5-7) has its string of three consecutive wins — all shutouts by goalkeeper Hugo Lloris — snapped. Yoshida flicked in a header, off an arcing ball-in played by defender Mauricio Cuevas, from the center of the area to cap the scoring. Denis Bouanga scored twice for LAFC. Bouanga has scored at least one goal in four consecutive games and has seven goal contributions (five goals, two assists) during that span. Pec converted from the penalty spot in the 36th minute and added a goal in the 79th — finishing off a string of quick crisp passes with a first-touch shot from the right-center of the area — for the Galaxy (3-14-7). The 24-year-old Pec, who had 30 goal contributions (16 goals, 14 assists) as an MLS rookie last season, has five goals and three assists this season. The Galaxy is 8-7-7 against LAFC all time in the regular season. Bouanga opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, his sixth consecutive game against the Galaxy with a goal. Bouanga perfectly timed his run onto a well-placed ball-ahead played by Ryan Hollingshead a blasted a first-touch shot into the net. Javairo Dilrosun stopped a low cross played from the left side by Nate Ordaz and then flicked in the finish from the right corner of the 6-yard box to give LAFC a 2-0 lead in the 31st. On a breakaway, Bouanga outraced the defense and then beat goalkeeper Novak Micovic, who crept off his line, with a rolling shot from near the penalty spot to make it 3-1 in the 67th. The Galaxy, the defending MLS Cup champions, lost 2-1 at home against Austin on Wednesday to snap their season-long three-game unbeaten streak.

🎥 Messi and friends put on a show as Inter Miami thrash New York

Messi and Inter Miami reunited with victory in the MLS after thrashing the New York Red Bull in a fabulous match. Mascherano's team was able to rediscover their best game and deliver a perfect performance, despite starting the match on the losing the 1-0, Messi took charge and participated in 4 of the 5 goals that Inter Miami inflicted on the New York team. The first goal will be a déjà vu for Barça fans, who will find it hard not to see Leo and Jordi Alba in the blue and red jersey in a trademark goal. Messi was crucial again in the 1-2, finding the left back with an alley-oop who assisted Telasco Segovia to put Miami ahead. Telasco Segovia himself would put the pinks two goals ahead just before halftime. With the 1-3, we reached the second half where Messi continued on the rise. Once again, in another very Barça-like connection, Messi completed a counterattack after being brilliantly set up by Sergio Busquets. And to top it off, Leo scored his double after an assist, this time from Suárez. That's 13 goals and 5 assists for Messi in his last 13 matches. Quite something. Jordi Alba, Busquets, Suárez, and Messi, always Messi. The old "culé" rockers never die. This article was translated into English by Artificial Intelligence. Lionel Messi and Telasco Segovia each score 2 goals as Inter Miami beat the Red Bulls 5-1

HARRISON, N.J. (AP) — Lionel Messi had two goals and two assists, Telasco Segovia also scored twice, and Inter Miami beat the New York Red Bulls 5-1 on Saturday night. It was Messi's sixth multi-goal game in his last seven matches. Messi became the fifth player in MLS history to record at least 35 goals and 25 assists over a two-year span, joining Robbie Keane (2013-14), Sebastian Giovinco (2015-16), Carlos Vela (2018-19), and Cucho Hernández (2023-24). Miami scored two goals in three minutes midway through the first half to take the lead. Messi's beautiful pass to Jordi Alba tied it at 1-all in the 24th minute. Then Messi's lofted pass over the defense led to Segovia's first goal. Messi scored on a breakaway in the 60th and he chested down Luis Suárez's pass for a left-footed blast in the 75th for his 18th goal of the season. Miami (12-4-5) has dominated the past three matchups with the Red Bulls, winning 6-2 on May 3, 2024 and 4-1 on May 3, 2025. New York (9-9-6) lost for just the second time at home this season, dropping to 8-2-2. The Red Bulls' 26 points through their first 11 home matches this season had ranked second in franchise history. It was the most goals allowed by New York this season. ___ AP soccer:
