Multiple people arrested after investigation into 3 armed robberies

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police arrested multiple people on several charges stemming from an investigation into a series of armed robberies.
Officers received reports of three different armed robberies spanning from December 28, 2024, to February 6, 2025. Victims told officials their phones and money were taken from them when they were held at gunpoint.
One of the incidents involved an arranged meeting to sell cannabis, authorities reported. Officials connected all three incidents to each other after the investigation.
Police determined Elijah Woodson, 22, and Marquel Woodson, 21, were the suspects.
Officers found the suspects in the 1200 block of 6th Avenue during a search.
Authorities found two loaded firearms and cannabis during the search.
During the search, Maurice Woodson, 23, Swennekia Woodson, 18, and Omareon Loper, 22, were all arrested as well.
Marquel Woodson is charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit armed robbery, possession of a machine gun and possession of a firearm without a FOID card. The machine gun charge comes from a warrant in Indiana.
Elijah Woodson is charged with armed robbery and vehicle theft. The theft charge comes from a warrant in Cook County.
Maurice Woodson is charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and obstructing justice.
Swennekia Woodson is charged with possession of cannabis with intent to deliver.
Loper is charged with failure to appear in court for a DUI charge in Winnebago County.

A juvenile died and a driver suspected of driving under the influence was arrested after a head-on crash in Napa County on Friday afternoon, the California Highway Patrol said. Officers said the crash happened around 4:40 p.m. on Chiles Pope Valley Road near Barnett Road in the Pope Valley area and involved a 2013 Nissan Sentra and a 2010 Toyota Corolla. The CHP said Aaron Kennedy Alvarez was driving the Corolla and had a juvenile in his vehicle. Officers said the juvenile died at the scene. His identification has not been released. Alvarez sustained major injuries and was flown to a hospital, where officers said he was placed under arrest for suspected DUI. The driver of the Sentra sustained minor injuries and was taken to a hospital, officers said. Chiles Pope Valley Road was closed for more than two hours for the investigation.

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man is facing charges after he was found unconscious in his car in the middle of a Northeast Portland street with a loaded illegal firearm in his lap early Saturday morning. Just before 5 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of Northeast Sandy Boulevard and 82nd Avenue on reports of a person passed out in a vehicle. Arriving at the scene, police said they found a man slumped over in the driver's seat and the vehicle running. Man shot, killed in Safeway parking lot in NE Portland While they were approaching the car, officers saw a firearm with an extended magazine in the man's lap, authorities said. Police requested backup and developed a tactical plan to deescalate the situation, eventually taking the man into custody. A loaded firearm was also seized from the vehicle and the car was towed. PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Four people were hospitalized after a stabbing incident at a pop-up rave party on the Eastbank Esplanade early Saturday morning. At around 3:30 a.m., officers responded to the Eastbank Esplanade at Southeast Salmon Street on reports of a stabbing. On arrival, police found there had been a rave party with hundreds of people in attendance. Man found unconscious in car with loaded illegal firearm in Northeast Portland At one point in the night, someone pulled out a knife and three men and a teen were stabbed. All four were taken to a hospital, two with serious injuries and two only requiring stitches, police said. They added one of the men was detained by police pending further investigation. Although officials say they are not seeking any suspects at this time, they are encouraging anyone with information on this incident to contact Portland police. This is a developing story.
