Prior to the main tournament, this series will serve as a crucial test. Pakistan, India, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates (the hosts) are all in Group A of the Asia Cup. Which player may return for Pakistan? Although there has been no official confirmation, it appears that Babar Azam may be returning. In the meantime, opening batsman Fakhar Zaman is almost certain to miss the tournament due to injury, and vice captain Shadab Khan is recurring shoulder injury, for which he underwent surgery, eliminating him from contention for both the tri-series and the Asia Cup. Babar was left out following Pakistan's dismal showing in the T20 World Cup and hasn't participated in a T20I match since December 2024. even though he hasn't been playing well lately. Despite scoring 236 runs at an average of 26 in his last 10 games, head coach Mike Hesson continues to respect his leadership and experience. reports that Babar might make a comeback, particularly if Fakhar Zaman doesn't get better from the hamstring injury that prevented him from playing in the West Indies tour. Babar may be back in the mix after meeting with PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi during the West Indies tour with fast bowler Naseem Shah and ODI captain Mohammad Rizwan. However, because of a shoulder injury that necessitated surgery, Shadab Khan is confirmed to be out of action until at least September or October. He is therefore unable to participate in the Asia Cup or the tri-series. Why Salman Ali Agha in the team? Based on fitness reports and the team's overall plan, the final roster is probably going to be revealed in the second week of August. What is Pakistan's probable squad? Rajasthan Royals Want Two Players From CSK In Exchange Of Sanju Samson: Report

Last Updated: It has been reported that Samson has formally requested the Rajasthan Royals to trade or release him ahead of the IPL 2026 auctions. Rajasthan Royals captain and star wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson wants to leave the franchise. It was reported by Cricbuzz, ESPN Cricinfo and Indian Express on Thursday (August 7) that the 30-year-old cricketer from Kerala, who is RR's most capped player in IPL history and also their highest run getter and most successful captain, has formally requested the Jaipur-based team to either trade or release him ahead of the IPL 2026 auctions. A day after it was reported that Samson wants to part ways with Rajasthan Royals, Indian Express has reported that the five-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings are interested in securing the services of Samson. In fact, after the conclusion of IPL 2025, Samson even met with CSK management and their head coach Stephen Fleming in the United States. 'It is understood that Chennai are open to the idea of bringing the 30-year-old to Chepauk through a trade deal via cash. But it has hit a roadblock, with Rajasthan preferring an exchange of two players from Chennai," Indian Express reported. Apart from Chennai Super Kings, three-time IPL champion Kolkata Knight Riders are also interested in signing Samson, but 'Samson seems to be keen on making a move to Chennai for multiple reasons." Samson was associated with KKR in the past. He was part of the Gautam Gambhir-led side that won the IPL title in 2012, but he didn't get a chance to play any match for the Shah Rukh Khan-owned side. 'According to those in the know, the chances of Samson entering the auctions are highly likely at this stage if both Rajasthan and Chennai don't reach an agreement," the report added. Samson's record in IPL Since making his IPL debut in 2013, Samson has played a total of 177 matches for two teams – Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals (formerly Delhi Daredevils) – and has 4704 runs to his name. The 30-year-old right-handed wicketkeeper-batter has scored three centuries and 26 fifties in the world's richest franchise cricket league, and under his leadership, Rajasthan Royals also qualified for the IPL final in 2022. Samson has led RR in a total of 67 IPL matches so far and won 33. He was retained for Rs 18 crore ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction by the Jaipur-based franchise. Women's ODI World Cup 2025 Matches May Move Out Of Bengaluru: Report

Last Updated: Bengaluru was awarded four Women's ODI World Cup 2025 matches by the ICC in June, and the city will also host the final on November 2 if Pakistan fail to qualify. The 2025 edition of the ICC Women's ODI World Cup is scheduled to take place in India from September 30 to November 2. The iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru was awarded four matches by the ICC when the tournament schedule was announced a couple of months back, and the stadium will also host the final on November 2 if Pakistan fail to qualify for it. But it has now been reported that the ODI World Cup matches may move out of Bengaluru. According to a report in Cricbuzz on Thursday, uncertainty looms over Women's ODI World Cup 2025 matches in Bengaluru because the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) is yet to obtain permission from the state government to host the 50-over World Cup matches. 'The uncertainty is in view of the tragic stampede in June when 11 fans died as Royal Challengers Bengaluru were celebrating their IPL success. The matter has since gone to the courts, and the state government has not yet given permission for the matches. The KSCA has shifted the Maharaja Cup T20 tournament from the city to Mysuru and is awaiting a nod on the Women's World Cup," the report read. 'We've written to the State Government and are awaiting a response. It's not as if they've denied permission. If that were the policy, they wouldn't have allowed the Maharaja Cup in Mysuru. So, we're waiting," a KSCA official was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz. 'There is some more time for this, and we're going step by step," he added. According to the ICC Women's ODI World Cup 2025 schedule, Bengaluru is set to host the tournament's opener between India and Sri Lanka on September 30, a match between England and South Africa on October 4, the last league stage match between India and Bangladesh on October 26 and the second semifinal match on October 30. Also, if Pakistan fail to qualify for the final, then the summit clash of the Women's World Cup 2025 will also take place in Bengaluru on November 2; otherwise, Colombo's R. Premadasa Stadium will host the title decider. ACA's Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, Holkar Stadium in Indore, ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam and R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo are the other four venues for the ODI World Cup, which features eight teams – India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, England, New Zealand, South Africa and Australia. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
