The Indian Association of Occupational Health (IAOH) Pune Branch, in collaboration with Noble Hospitals and Research Centre, observed Occupational Health Day with a program emphasizing resilient and healthy workplaces.
PUNE: The Indian Association of Occupational Health (IAOH) Pune Branch in association with Noble Hospitals and Research Centre on Sunday celebrated Occupational Health Day (July 13) with a special program.
Held at hotel Ramee Grand, the program saw large participation from professionals working in the health and other sectors This year's theme was Connected, Compassionate and Inclusive: A New Era of Resilient and Healthy Workplaces.
Dr. Amit Kumar Kulkarni, President of IAOH Pune, welcomed the attendees and delivered the inaugural speech. The program started with traditional lamp lighting, Dr. Deepali Khode, Honorary Secretary of IAOH, introduced the special theme of this year's day to the participants.

Dr. Pankaj Raut, Dr. Rotithor, Dr. Suhas Kanitkar and Dr. Ajay Dhongde were present on the occasion.
Dr. B.G. Sahastrabudhe was felicitated for his academic contribution in the field of Occupational Health, while the first Prof. Dr. B.G. Sahasrabudhe Academic Award 2025 was presented to Dr. S.P. Tembe for his professional excellence and contribution to this field.
Dr. Tembe delivered the keynote address explaining the importance of empathy, inclusiveness and resilience in the modern workplace.

The program was a perfect platform for knowledge sharing , acknowledgement for work being done and interaction among professionals working in the field of Occupational Health.
The program concluded with a CME (Continuing Medical Education) session organized by Noble Hospital and Research Centre. The CME saw experts presenting on various crucial topics on advanced treatments and preventions for work related injuries and disease including repair and reconstruction in hand injuries, headache and neck pains of concern, oral health awareness etc.
The presentations were made by Dr. S.K Raut, Dr. Ravi Swaminathan, Dr. Chandrasekhar Raman, Dr Bhupendra Gupta and Dr. Akshay Raut.

Govt appoints key personnel for med colleges, hosps in TG

Hyderabad: The government on Tuesday appointed administrative officers including principals and superintendents for medical colleges in the State and also taken a decision to promote 44 senior professors as additional directors of Medical Education. This is a significant decision by the government as it has been taken for the first time after the formation of Telangana. The government issued the GO in this regard on Tuesday. All of them have been appointed as Principals of government medical colleges and Superintendents of teaching hospitals across the state. The process of promoting 308 people working as associate professors to professors has reached its final stage. In the wake of the completion of the ADME posting process, the government would soon give postings to those promoted as professors, said the official. With these promotions, the problem of shortage of professors and department HODs in all colleges will be solved. The Health Department has initiated steps to promote about 278 assistant professors to associate professors. Since there was no possibility of direct recruitment for posts like Associate Professor, Professor, Additional DME, these posts are being filled through promotions. The Medical and Health Services Recruitment Board had recently issued a notification to directly fill 607 assistant professor posts. In addition, the Finance Department has approved the filling of about 714 more posts. These posts will also be filled soon. The professors promoted above, have been asked to join the promotion post within a period of 15 days from the date of receipt of the orders of promotion. If they fail to join the new post within the said time limit or evade joining the post by proceeding on leave, they shall forfeit their promotion for the current panel year in terms of Rule 11 (b) of TS State and Subordinate Service Rules, 1996. 6. The Director of Medical Education has been asked to take necessary action to relieve the officers with immediate effect, by making internal arrangements.

In a major push to strengthen India's medical education and healthcare system, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has unveiled a sweeping overhaul of faculty qualification norms, aiming to widen the pool of eligible teaching professionals and facilitate a rapid expansion of medical seats across the revised Medical Institutions (Qualifications of Faculty) Regulations, 2025, issued by the Post Graduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB) under the NMC, allow experienced non-teaching doctors working in government hospitals to take up faculty positions in medical colleges. The move is expected to directly contribute to the government's goal of adding 75,000 new MBBS and PG seats over the next five HIGHLIGHTS OF THE NEW REGULATIONSNon-teaching government hospitals with 220+ beds can now be converted into teaching institutions, a significant relaxation from the earlier norm requiring 330 beds. Specialists and consultants with two years of post-PG experience in government hospitals can be appointed as assistant professors without mandatory senior years of service in a government facility now makes a non-teaching specialist eligible for an associate professor can be appointed from amongst senior consultants who have three years of teaching experience at institutions recognised by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS).Diploma-holding specialists with six years of experience in government institutions are now eligible for assistant professor changes aim to unlock the untapped teaching potential of experienced medical professionals already serving in government hospitals, many of whom were previously ineligible due to rigid service another landmark shift, new government medical colleges are now allowed to launch undergraduate and postgraduate programs simultaneously, rather than following a staggered timeline. This is expected to speed up the availability of both doctors and faculty members, especially in underserved and rural the upper age limit for senior residents in pre-clinical and para-clinical subjects has been raised to 50 years, potentially drawing more experienced candidates into encourage academic growth, experience in roles such as tutors or demonstrators will now count towards eligibility for faculty appointments. Furthermore, up to five years of service in regulatory, academic, or medical research bodies like the NMC, State Medical Councils, or government medical education departments will be recognised as valid teaching of note, PG courses can now begin with just two faculty members and two seats, as opposed to the previous requirement of three faculty members and a senior resident.
