Jimmy Horn Jr. turning heads at Panthers training camp with his speed and toughness
Horn was a sixth-round pick by the Panthers in the 2025 NFL draft, but after a fantastic offseason, he is looking like a steal of the draft.
With his speed and toughness, Horn is everything a team would want out of a sixth-round receiver. In a recent mock scrimmage at Bank of America Stadium, Horn impressed once again, scoring the first touchdown for the second team offense.
Horn was in motion before the snap and then snuck underneath, and quarterback Andy Dalton found him for an easy walk into the endzone. While it was not a typical go-ball that the speedy Horn should see plenty of this season, it was a play that Colorado ran a ton with Horn. Get him the ball in space and let his open-field ability do the rest.
Panthers head coach Dave Canales has loved what he has seen from the rookie receiver so far.
"I think it's the energy he plays with," said Canales to Panthers.com. "He doesn't quit on routes, he continues after the normal part of the protection he can count on, he continues to find space and play fast, and, it's a credit to his fitness, but it's also a credit to just the energy that he puts out there, that you want to throw to him."
While sixth-round picks are far from guaranteed to make the final 53-man roster, Horn's performances through the offseason have made it almost a forgone conclusion that he makes Carolina's final group.
The Panthers and Shedeur Sanders, Cleveland Browns, will have joint practices this week before each team's first preseason game on Friday, Aug. 8.

Dolphins backup OL Andrew Meyer out "weeks" with an injury
The Dolphins have lost backup interior offensive lineman Andrew Meyer for "weeks" with an injury, coach Mike McDaniel said Wednesday. South Carolina team stuns defending champions Florida with wild walk-off to earn trip to Little League World Series
A team from South Carolina is headed to Williamsport for the first time, thanks to a wild walk-off win over the defending Little League World Series champions. A group from Irmo, South Carolina, knocked off the group from Lake Mary, Florida, on Wednesday in stunning fashion. Florida took a 4-0 lead into the final inning, but pitcher Jacob Brown opened with a pair of walks and then hit his pitch limit after securing one out. His relief pitcher gave up a single before two more walks, one of which was intentional, to bring up Brady Westbrooks. Westbrooks then hit a three-RBI double with a deep line drive to the left-field wall with two outs to steal the 5-4 win, which sparked a massive celebration on the field. Florida was a perfect 3-0 up until Wednesday in their regional site, and had outscored opponents 26-1. They rolled over South Carolina 14-0 when they played on Sunday, too. Florida beat Chinese Taipei 2-1 in extra innings to win the Little League World Series last year. The tournament hasn't seen a back-to-back champion since Tokyo pulled it off in 2012 and 2013. The Little League World Series will open on August 13. The U.S. and International Championship games are scheduled for August 23, and the World Series Championship will take place on August 24. The Seattle Mariners and New York Mets will participate in the Little League Classic at Bowman Field in Williamsport this year, too.
