BBC commentator Andrew Castle has apologised after repeatedly using the wrong name for US football star Trinity Rodman during a Wimbledon broadcast, sparking backlash online.
Castle referred to Rodman — who is the girlfriend of American tennis player Ben Shelton — as "Tiffany" several times during Shelton's fourth-round clash with Lorenzo Sonego on Monday. Social media users slammed the mistake, calling it careless and accusing Castle of showing a 'lack of care' and even a 'microaggression.'

Rodman, 22, who is a US international footballer and Olympic gold medallist, is the estranged daughter of NBA legend Dennis Rodman.

Castle also referenced her father during the broadcast, saying: 'Her father is Dennis Rodman, who's one of the greatest sportsmen of all time in my opinion.
"The greatest rebounder in NBA history and the biggest wind-up merchant of all time.'
The remarks drew criticism online, with many questioning the relevance of mentioning Dennis Rodman given Trinity's well-documented distant relationship with him.

Taking to social media afterwards, Rodman wrote: 'My name is Trinity for those who don't know."
She added: 'My dad's not even in MY life, no need to bring him up during HIS matches when I don't even want him talked about during mine.
"It's him and his loved ones' moment. Thank you.'

Shelton, 22, is coached by his father, former pro Bryan Shelton, who was also present in the player box alongside Rodman.
In a statement, a BBC spokesperson said: 'Andrew apologises for mispronouncing Trinity Rodman's name during the Ben Shelton vs. Lorenzo Sonego match.'

Castle, 61, has faced criticism for previous on-air comments.
In 2016, he was accused of sexism after saying 'It's a pity my dentist doesn't look like that,' while cameras focused on the girlfriend of British player Marcus Willis.
Last year, he drew complaints for referring to Carlos Alcaraz as simply 'the Spaniard,' and in 2022 he was criticised for expressing support for jailed former tennis star Boris Becker during Queen's coverage.

Shelton, seeded 10th, is set to face world No. 1 Jannik Sinner in the Wimbledon quarter-finals on Wednesday.

Major EastEnders return confirmed as star reprises role after 11 years

Patrick Trueman (Rudolph Walker) will have plenty of reasons to celebrate in EastEnders as, ahead of his wedding to one true love Yolande (Angela Wynter), his beloved son Anthony (Nicholas Bailey) is set to return. A mainstay of the BBC soap between 2000 and 2003 – with brief returns in 2004, 2005 and 2014 – Anthony featured in numerous storylines over the years, including his relationship with Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace). The former Walford doctor was last seen a little over a decade ago when he staged a short return for one episode following Patrick's stroke. But after 11 years, he is set to stage another comeback and, much like his mid-noughties returns, it's the nuptials of Yolande and Patrick that brings him back to the Square. His visit to Walford, however, comes at a significant moment for Patrick and it means that his stay is longer than he intended. Consider us intrigued. 'It is an unexpected treat to return to EastEnders and I'm full of gratitude to get the opportunity to revisit the character of Anthony,' said actor Nicholas Bailey on reprising his role. 'It's wonderful to work with Rudolph Walker again – he's such a big part of my journey as an actor and I loved filming my first scenes with him after so long. More Trending 'I'm excited to see what the passage of time has done to Anthony and explore his relationship with Patrick at this stage in their lives.' EastEnders Executive Producer Ben Wadey added: 'It's great to welcome Nicholas back to the EastEnders family to reunite Patrick with his son. Murley backing wing partnership with Feyi-Waboso to ignite against USA

And wing partner Cadan Murley reckons the deadly duo can 'bounce off each other' to help England cap a summer clean sweep. Steve Borthwick's side take on the Eagles in the American capital hoping to make it three transatlantic wins from three after an impressive 2-0 series victory in Argentina. Feyi-Waboso, 22, missed both of those clashes after serving a two-match ban for a high tackle in a pre-tour warm-up match against a France XV. But the Exeter Chiefs flyer will start on the flank this evening and fellow winger Murley, 25, has put the Gary Gold's hosts on red alert. Our first meeting with @USARugby in four years 👊 Read the full match preview for all the information you need, including team news, stats and recent results 📄 — England Rugby (@EnglandRugby) July 19, 2025 'I'm massively excited,' he said. 'I've never played with Manny before so that's exciting in itself. 'He's been carving up in training – so hopefully he can take some of that and put it out on the pitch on Saturday. 'We can bounce off each other quite well – we're probably quite similar kind of wingers, we want to get our hands on the ball, we want to attack through the middle a bit more than probably traditional wingers standing on the edge. 'I'm going to try and get my hands on the ball and link up with him. 'I've got to know him quite well – positionally, you're always very close, so I've spent a lot of time with him. 'I'm absolutely buzzing about what's going to be a really exciting game.' England have now won six games on the spin under Borthwick in what marks their longest winning streak since back in 2020.. Jack van Poortvliet's dramatic last-gasp try clinched that series victory in South America and the Red Rose are chomping at the bit to cap a summer tour to savour this evening. Harlequins ace Murley, who came off the bench in those clashes in La Plata and San Juan, believes the group have learned from tough experiences and hopes the likes of him and Feyi-Waboso can lay down a marker with a pair of big performances at DC's Audi Field. 'Before that all the results were by one try,' Murley added. 'But as you develop and learn as a group, particularly with the leaders we have who have won so much in an England shirt, they can pull you through those games. 'That's when results go your way. 'We're buzzing to get out there and show what we can do – a lot of boys haven't played or started so we want to put our best foot forward to try and stake our claim to start in the autumn. 'There are always roles you're trying to play for – I'm excited to get out there and show what I can do.' The match against the USA Eagles will be streamed live on RugbyPassTV and England Rugby's YouTube channel.
