Damning evidence against KCR and ex-ministers: Ghose panel report on KLIS to be tabled in spl Assembly session
According to official sources who were privy to a power-point presentation made by State Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy on the summary of the judicial commission's report during the cabinet meeting, the Commission has found former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao responsible for the alleged irregularities in the construction of the project.
The Commission has observed in its report that Rao was directly and indirectly responsible for the irregularities in the project, right from its planning and construction to operation and maintenance of the barrages which are part of the project, sources said.
The Commission pointed fingers also at former irrigation minister T Harish Rao, a nephew of KCR. A committee of experts had advised against taking up the Kaleshwaram project, but the BRS regime had "intentionally suppressed" the report, they said. The sources said the officials had prepared a 60-page summary of the report, which runs into 665 pages.
The summary mentioned the names of KCR 32 times, Harish Rao 19 times and former minister Eatala Rajender five times. Rajender is now a BJP Lok Sabha member.
The report found Rajender, who was finance minister during the BRS regime, to be negligent, the sources said.
Briefing the press after the Cabinet meeting, the Chief Minister, apparently enthused by the damning evidence against former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and ex-ministers, said that since the report was prepared by an independent judicial commission, the question of resorting to politics of vengeance did not arise. Going by the findings of the Commission highlighted in the report, the government will initiate action against those who were involved in the 'embezzlement of public money in the construction of the Kaleshwaram project.'

The Kerala State Human Rights Commission has registered two suo motu cases on the death of two two-wheeler riders by speeding private buses in Kochi. The latest case was the death of Muhammed Salim, 42, a resident of Kodungalloor, employed by an online aggregator, after being knocked down by a private bus near the South Kalamassery flyover on Monday. The Commission sought a report from the ACP after looking into aspects like whether a case had been registered against the driver concerned and whether the same bus had been involved in accidents before. Apart from the registration of criminal cases, actions that can be taken under the Motor Vehicles Act against drivers causing such accidents should be submitted to the Commission. The Commission should also be informed about the details of cases registered by the police in connection with accidents caused by private buses due to overspeeding and reckless driving, and the precautionary measures taken by the police. The Regional Transport Officer (RTO) should submit a separate report. Steps should be taken by the District Collector, RTO, and the Transport Commissioner for the protection of commuters and pedestrians. Last month, the Commission had taken a suo motu case after a first-year graduate student, Govind P. Shenoy, 18, was fatally knocked down by a speeding private bus at Ernakulam North. In that case, the Ernakulam Town North police had booked the driver with the non-bailable charge of culpable homicide amounting to murder.

Gadwal: The Kaleshwaram Commission report is part of a politically motivated vendetta jointly carried out by the Congress and BJP parties, said Basu Hanumanthu Naidu, BRS Party in-charge for Gadwal constituency. He made these remarks after attending a live screening of the PowerPoint presentation delivered by former minister T. Harish Rao on the Kaleshwaram issue. The session was organized on Tuesday at the BRS District Office in Gadwal, where Basu Hanumanthu Naidu, along with party leaders and cadres, watched Harish Rao's presentation—broadcast from the Telangana Bhavan, Hyderabad—on an LED screen. Cong govt targeting KCR, BRS leaders through inquiry panels: MLA Harish Rao
Hyderabad, Aug 5 (PTI) The BRS on Tuesday alleged that the Congress government in Telangana is attempting to 'trouble" its president K Chandrasekhar Rao and other party leaders under the pretext of judicial inquiries into the Kaleshwaram irrigation project and other initiatives. BRS MLA T Harish Rao criticised the state government for releasing a 60-page summary of the judicial commission's report on the Kaleshwaram project, describing it as 'false" and 'politically motivated." Reacting to the commission's findings—which held KCR accountable for alleged irregularities in the multi-crore project—Harish Rao questioned the authenticity of the summary and whether it accurately reflects the commission's full 650-page report. 'The government says it will table the report in the Assembly. Once that happens, we will present the facts before the people," he told reporters at the BRS party office, where he made a detailed presentation titled 'Congress conspiracies on Kaleshwaram'. He further alleged that the summary gives an impression of a 'one-sided" judicial commission report and accused the Congress of misusing inquiry commissions to target the BRS leadership. Responding to observations on KCR's direct involvement in project design and execution, Harish Rao claimed, 'It is the chief minister's responsibility to review key projects. How can that be called political interference?" He accused the Revanth Reddy-led government of launching a series of 'politically motivated inquiries to divert public attention from its failures". These include probes into power projects, the Kaleshwaram project, and the Formula-E race. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said the government would soon convene a session of the Assembly to hold a thorough debate and decide the future course of action. The Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project, located on the Godavari River in Bhupalpally district, is a multi-purpose irrigation initiative. Damage to its barrages—constructed during the previous BRS regime—emerged as a key issue in the 2023 Assembly elections. In 2024, the Congress government ordered a probe into alleged irregularities surrounding the Bhadradri and Yadadri power projects, also initiated under the BRS administration. The state's Anti-Corruption Bureau filed a case against BRS leader K T Rama Rao, accusing him of sanctioning payments—mostly in foreign currency and without approvals—for hosting the Formula E race in Hyderabad in February 2023, during the BRS rule.
