Is Google behind a mysterious new AI image generator? These bananas might confirm it.

Nano Banana. Unless you're deep in the weeds of AI models, those two words probably don't belong together. But for several days, a mysterious new image model with that very name has been creating buzz among people who have gotten to try it — because it's simply so good. The model has been showing up on LMArena, a benchmarking website that crowdsources user feedback. The site has a feature where you can "battle" two randomly selected models, which is where the model "nano-banana" has been appearing. When it has appeared, people have been remarking on just how good it is. There's just one problem: we don't know for certain who nano-banana belongs to. Enthusiasts have been trying to sleuth its maker and, so far, the most popular answer is Google, partly because the company started teasing something image-related earlier this month. Over the past week, posts have been popping up on Reddit and X from users who have been impressed by the model's ability to generate images and edit them carefully when prompted. Business Insider managed to get nano-banana to appear on LMArena, and we found it to be pretty great at bringing our prompts to life, even if it still struggled with spelling the odd word correctly. Google hasn't yet laid claim to the model — at least not directly. A Google spokesperson did not respond to Business a request for comment from Business Insider on it. On Tuesday, Logan Kilpatrick, Google's head of product for AI Studio, posted a banana emoji on X. Naina Raisinghani, a Google DeepMind product manager, also posted a picture similar to Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan's banana-taped-to-wall piece from 2019. The use of the word "nano" could suggest this is a model capable of running locally on a device (Google has in the past referred to its smaller models as "nano"). Coincidentally, Google is holding a big event for its new devices on Wednesday — will Jimmy Fallon reveal all?

The exchange-traded fund has gained about 13% over the past year. Moreover, DRI's low double-digit returns on a YTD basis outshine the ETF's 1.9% gains over the same time frame. On Jun. 20, DRI shares closed up more than 1% after reporting its Q4 results. Its adjusted EPS of $2.98 surpassed Wall Street expectations of $2.96. The company's revenue was $3.3 billion, matching Wall Street forecasts. DRI expects full-year adjusted EPS to be $10.50 to $10.70. For fiscal 2026, ending in May 2026, analysts expect DRI's EPS to grow 11.3% to $10.63 on a diluted basis. The company's earnings surprise history is disappointing. It missed the consensus estimate in three of the last four quarters while beating the forecast on another occasion. Among the 28 analysts covering DRI stock, the consensus is a 'Moderate Buy.' That's based on 16 'Strong Buy' ratings, two 'Moderate Buys,' and 10 'Holds.' This configuration is less bearish than three months ago, with one analyst suggesting a 'Moderate Sell.' On Jul. 31, Barclays PLC (BCS) analyst Jeff Bernstein maintained a 'Buy' rating on DRI and set a price target of $255, the Street-high price target, implying a potential upside of 23% from current levels. The mean price target of $234.75 represents a 13.2% premium to DRI's current price levels. Ferrari Boss Slams F1 Media For Rumors That Delayed His Contract Extension

Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Scuderia Ferrari Formula One team principal Fred Vasseur has hit out at the media for allegedly spreading rumors that delayed his contract extension. Vasseur was also frustrated about the speculation surrounding his driver, Charles Leclerc, and the team's chassis technical director, Loïc Serra. Ferrari has been experiencing several challenges this season, mostly pertaining to the team's SF-25 F1 car and Lewis Hamilton's struggles in adapting to the car. Vasseur's future with the team had not been confirmed until an announcement was made just before the summer break. The delay led to rumors that he might be asked to step down by Ferrari. What added fuel to the speculation was Red Bull's ousting of its team principal, Christian Horner, after the British Grand Prix, leading to reports about Ferrari replacing Vasseur with Horner. Vasseur admitted that the rumors created "turmoil" within his team, especially since Italian fans "react more emotionally" to any news about Ferrari, a team they are extremely passionate about. The rumor mill didn't spare Leclerc either, linking him to a potential switch to Mercedes, despite him revealing his commitment to Ferrari. Vasseur also opened up on how a rumor blamed Serra for the problems on the SF-25, even though he joined the team in October 2024. Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur on the grid during the F1 Grand Prix of Belgium at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps on July 28, 2024 in Spa, Belgium. Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur on the grid during the F1 Grand Prix of Belgium at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps on July 28, 2024 in Spa, to Auto Motor und Sport, Vasseur called out the media for spreading the rumors and acknowledged the challenge in stopping them. He said: "Rumors caused the turmoil. I didn't start them, the media did. Neither Ferrari nor I spoke. But today, you can't avoid such interference. I don't want to tar all journalists with the same brush. But with the internet, reporting has become much more aggressive. "There's a pressure to generate clicks. When these rumors first surfaced in Canada, I was really angry. Because they went too far. "My technical director, Loïc Serra, was accused of not doing a good job. And yet, the 2025 car was practically ready when Loïc started working for us. "The story with Charles Leclerc was similar. Some people regularly wrote that Charles was going to Mercedes. Nobody cared that he repeatedly confirmed he had a long-term contract with Ferrari." Vasseur then explained the impact such reporting has had on his team, highlighting that his contract extension would have happened much earlier without the rumors. He said: "That has an impact on the team. In Italy, people react more emotionally. Without this background noise, my talks with Ferrari would have been much quicker."
