Trump's tariff: Gold price surges for fourth week. Is it right time to invest?
On Tuesday, July 15, Gold prices traded higher driven by heightened global trade tensions that boosted demand for safe-haven assets. As of 0635 GMT, spot gold rose 0.5 per cent to $3,359.01 per ounce, while U.S. gold futures edged up 0.3% to $3,368.20.
Back home, the yellow metal inched up in early morning trade on Tuesday. MCX Gold futures for August 5 delivery were up by 0.12 per cent at ₹ 97,896 per 10 grams, while MCX Silver futures for September 5 delivery were trading 0.54% lower at ₹ 1,12,330 per kilogram during the same period.
Anuj Gupta, Director, Ya Wealth Research & Advisory, says that safe haven demand against uncertainty provide support to the gold prices. The latest surge in prices is being fueled by renewed safe-haven demand, as uncertainty deepens around Trump's aggressive trade tactics and escalating US-Russia tensions.
Reports suggest that Trump is preparing to send offensive weapons to Ukraine, which risks intensifying the ongoing conflict with Russia.
In addition, the US administration is drafting a sanctions bill that could grant Trump sweeping authority to punish Russia and any nation supporting its war efforts. Proposed tariffs include a massive 500 per cent duty on countries aiding Russia, potentially impacting China, India, and Brazil.
According to Sugandha Sachdeva- Founder-SS WealthStreet, price outlook suggests that gold remains well-supported at $3,280 per ounce in the international market, with potential to move higher towards $3,445–$3,450 per ounce in the coming sessions.
' On the domestic front, support lies near Rs.96,000 per 10gm, while prices are expected to head towards Rs.98,800 per 10gm initially. A breakout above this could pave the way for a retest of the Rs.1,00,000 mark. All eyes would now be on the US June consumer and producer price index data as well as the US Fed meeting lined up towards the end of this month, which is likely to provide further cues for the precious metal. Trade-related headlines will also continue to dominate sentiment and influence gold's trajectory,' Sachdeva said.
Sachdeva further recommended investors to remain alert to macro developments, as they will be critical in shaping the next leg of gold's move, as volatility rises.

Ernakulam KSRTC bus terminal project gets funding assurance from CSML
Kochi: Amid reports that the Ernakulam KSRTC bus terminal project has hit funding roadblock, hopes have been rekindled with Cochin Smart Mission Limited (CSML) informing the state govt that funds for the construction have already been earmarked. Recently, CSML board noted that fresh approval from the Union housing and urban affairs ministry is required to provide financial support to the project, as the deadline for Smart City projects officially ended in March 2025. The expiry of the deadline prompted a section of board members to demand fresh approval from the ministry. The state govt then sought clarification on whether CSML had earmarked funds before the cutoff. "If the agency hadn't allocated money, no fresh allocation would be possible since the project period ended in March. That's why the govt asked CSML if the funds were already set aside," said T.J. Vinod, MLA. In its response, CSML confirmed that Rs 12 crore had been earmarked for the terminal's construction. Now, only official clearance from the Union ministry is needed to use the funds as intended. The state govt has started preparing a formal request for this approval. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo "I've learned that the letter is ready. Once the concerned official returns from Delhi and signs it, the letter will be sent. We hope the issue will be resolved without much delay," Vinod added. The current KSRTC terminal near Karikkamuri in Kochi is in a severe state of disrepair. The old, crumbling structure offers poor amenities, unhygienic washrooms and limited passenger facilities, making it one of the most commuter-unfriendly terminals in the state. To revamp the facility, the Vyttila Mobility Hub Society (VMHS) signed an MoU with CSML and KSRTC for constructing a modern terminal based on the mobility hub model. The foundation stone was laid on Feb 24, 2024. CSML will provide funding, while VMHS will execute the construction. The land adjacent to the existing terminal, owned by KSRTC, will be handed over to VMHS for the project. However, ownership will remain with KSRTC. Waterlogging in the area has been a persistent issue. The govt tasked the Centre for Water Resources Development and Management with studying the site. Based on the findings, a high flood line (HFL) was marked. The site and surrounding roads will be elevated above the HFL before work begins.

Work of 2nd Saraighat rail-cum-road bridge over B'putra to start soon, tender expected next month
1 2 Guwahati: Work on the second Saraighat rail-cum-road bridge over the Brahmaputra in Guwahati will start soon, with tenders to be opened next month, followed by work allotment, officials said on Saturday. While this major infrastructure project was sanctioned during the FY 2023–24 with an estimated cost of Rs 1,473.77 crore, Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) on Saturday said the bridge is targeted for completion by Dec 2029. This bridge at Saraighat has been sanctioned as part of the doubling of the Agthori–Kamakhya railway line under NFR. "The geotechnical investigations have been completed for the design of the substructure and superstructure, and an EPC tender has been floated for the construction of the bridge, including approach roads, rail viaducts, earthwork, and ancillary works. The tender is expected to be finalised soon, and construction work will start immediately after that," NFR chief public relations officer Kapinjal Kishore Sharma said. As part of the progress, he informed that detailed estimates were sanctioned by the Railway Board in Feb 2024, and the design drawing and report was finalised and duly approved by the competent authority in March 2025. The project includes the construction of a 7.062 km-long stretch from Agthori on the northern bank of the Brahmaputra to Kamakhya on the southern bank, featuring a 1.3 km-long steel composite girder bridge over the Brahmaputra. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like This Could Be the Best Time to Trade Gold in 5 Years IC Markets Learn More Undo NFR, in a statement, said the upcoming bridge will be designed with a double-line railway track on the lower deck and a three-lane roadway with footpaths on the upper deck. "The north-end approach of 2.694 km will connect to Agthori station, while the south-end approach of 3.07 km will connect to Kamakhya station," it added. Railways is hopeful that once completed, the new bridge will significantly enhance line capacity in the section, which is poised for industrial growth. "Besides improving connectivity, the project is expected to create substantial employment opportunities for both skilled and unskilled workers in the surrounding areas," read the statement. The Union cabinet in Feb last year approved six multi-tracking projects across Indian Railways to facilitate ease of travelling, minimise logistics costs, reduce oil imports, and lower CO2 emissions. The Agthori-Kamakhya section with the new rail-cum-road bridge approved at a cost of Rs 1,650.37 crore was one of them. Projects are expected to increase the existing line capacity of the sections, causing a smoothing of train operations and improved punctuality as well as wagon turnaround time. They will facilitate a reduction of congestion and an increase in rail traffic, officials said.
