I WAS a total fake tan newbie when I embarked on this test, put off by horror stories of people turning their legs orange.
Gradual tan seemed a good starting point, although I opted for the Deep Sun-Kissed Glow version to get more bang for my buck. Garnier also has a Light one.
I applied it before bed after exfoliating and could see the change within one day.
I was impressed – although not so much with my orange hands. I quickly learned to give them a thorough wash after slathering it on.
Luckily it didn't come off on the bed sheets and dried on my legs quickly.
The lotion felt really rich, like a good moisturiser, and the smell was pleasant.
However, the colour was so rich, I had to reduce my daily applications towards the end, because the colour was too dark for me.
At no point did it get streaky or patchy, though.
I'm definitely a convert – especially as I've had a few compliments.
I'd use this again in the darker shade, but apply less frequently.
And I think the lighter one would be better for naturally paler skin tones, or anyone who wants to apply it daily as part of their moisturising routine.

I'M NATURALLY quite pale, but as there's a history of skin cancer in my family, I try not to expose my legs to the sun too much.
If I'm going on holiday, I'll slather on fake tan instead – usually whatever I can buy on offer.
This Nivea gradual tan has a nice smell and went on really easily, although the texture was runnier than I expected.
It wasn't very moisturising, however. I expected my tanned leg to feel softer than the pale one, but the skin texture was pretty much the same.
It took a couple of days before I noticed any change in colour, so you have to persist.
I kept asking my kids if they could see a change and their reply at the start was a non-committal 'a little'.
If you stick with it, the glow is a nice, delicate colour – ideal if you are a bit nervous about using these products.
It stayed put, too, and didn't seem patchy, but it didn't really take to my feet.
I'm not sure if that's because I wore socks on chilly days and that rubbed it off.
I'd definitely use it again, but switch to another product if I needed a richer tan colour.

AS A pale redhead, I'm not a sunbather. And my only run-in with fake tan as a teen ended up with streaky orange legs.
More than 25 years later, I approached this test with trepidation, fully expecting to have to hide under trousers for a fortnight.
But I was pleasantly surprised by this gradual tanner.
I've used Palmer's products before and was happy to find this had the same cocoa butter fragrance.
The texture was thick, but felt light on my skin as I applied it to exfoliated legs after my morning shower. It did take a minute or so to sink in though.
I liked the bottle's pump dispenser, as it reduced mess and wastage. I had plenty left once the fortnight finished.
Within a couple of days of use, I could see a colour emerging, which felt very natural and didn't scream 'fake'.
Two weeks of consistent use made it a little too dark for me and there were a couple of streaky patches.
But I'd definitely use it again, applying every other day or so to reduce the intensity of the shade.
I'm a convert and certainly felt more confident putting on shorts or a short summer skirt.

NOW I'm in my forties, I care less about what people think about my legs in shorts.
But if I'm going out for the night, I prefer a bit of colour to feel more dressed up.
A gradual tan is perfect for me as it's low maintenance. I didn't even bother with skin prep – I just showered and slapped it on.
This product comes in two shades, and I went for the darker option as I felt it would compliment my skin tone better.
It was the right choice, as the colour was similar to my natural tan, with no hints of orange or yellow.
The cream is lovely, just like a Dove body lotion.
While it has a slight fake tan whiff, you can also smell the nice tropical fragrance.
My skin felt really well moisturised after using it and it wasn't sticky. But I waited ten minutes before putting clothes on.
The colour was impressive, too, like using full-strength fake tan without the streaks and faff. It developed within three hours or so.
I think the tan also makes my left leg seem slimmer and more toned.
But the strength meant applying daily was too much. I'm continuing to use it, but every other day instead.
It's excellent value and a little goes a long way – I can't fault it.

Holly Willoughby can't stop smiling during wholesome shopping trip in Portugal - after her former BFF Phillip Schofield was seen enjoying boozy afternoon with male pal
had a big smile on her face when she was pictured carrying some essentials while on holiday in Portugal on Thursday. The TV presenter carried a watermelon under her arm as well as cans of Coke Zero before heading back to her car. The hotspot is where she famously enjoyed trips away with her former BFF Phillip Schofield before they fell out over his 'unwise but not illegal affair' with a much younger colleague at This Morning. Holly's outing comes two days after pictures emerged of Phillip enjoying a boozy afternoon in London with a male companion. The beleaguered former presenter was accompanied by male friend Joshua Luke Sharman, a London based nurse, during an visit to the city's first LGBTQ + dedicated cinema, the Arzner Bar & Cafe in Bermondsey. Holly was worlds away from home, as she beamed while grabbing essentials in a pretty sun dress during the idyllic break With summer temperatures soaring, Schofield, 63, looked somewhat worse for wear, but fortunately, the former This Morning star had Sharman - who describes himself as a 'nurse, academic, inexperienced aviator and clueless but optimistic PhD candidate' - on hand as a supportive and stabilising presence. Schofield's wife Stephanie Lowe - the other supportive and stabilising presence in his life, for altogether different reasons - appeared to be absent as he walked arm-in-arm with Sharman across Bermondsey Square. To all intents and purposes, the star - who came out as gay more than five years ago - looked like a carefree single man during his latest public appearance on Tuesday, despite his 23-year marriage to Stephanie. Holly was worlds away from home, as she beamed while grabbing essentials in a pretty sun dress during the idyllic break. Holly, who shares three children Harry, 16, Belle, 14 and Chester, 10, with Dan, was enjoying her sun-soaked trip as she walked down the street. She has been keeping fans abreast of her trip with fun-filled Instagram posts making for stark contrast against Phillip's raucous day out. She has been keeping fans abreast of her trip with fun-filled Instagram posts making for stark contrast against Phillip's raucous day out Holly and Phillip's friendship fell apart after his affair came to light and later things broke down irretrievably after she discovered what his brother had told him about engaging in a sex act with a boy, Daily Mail revealed last year. The extent of the former This Morning presenters' bitter feud was exposed when Phil made his TV comeback in Channel 5 series Cast Away in October, in which he referred to Holly as 'one of the three s***s of showbiz'. The disgraced host accused Holly of 'betrayal' after suggesting she helped to orchestrate his departure from the ITV show because they thought his brother's trial and Phillip's affair with a young showrunner were both bad for her 'brand'. Holly had previously vented her frustration at Phillip's lies when he tried to deny he was having an affair with the showrunner, before eventually coming clean by releasing a bombshell statement to the Daily Mail in May 2023. He said: 'I am making this statement via the Daily Mail, to whom I have already apologised personally for misleading, through my lawyer who I also misled, about a story [sic] which they wanted to write about me a few days ago. 'The first thing I want to say is: I am deeply sorry for having lied to them, and to many others about a relationship that I had with someone working on This Morning. I did have a consensual on-off relationship with a younger male colleague at This Morning.

Lisa Snowdon wows fans in a high street crochet dress that flatters curves
Fans can't get enough of Lisa Snowdon's curve-flattering crochet dress that's perfect for warm weather, and it's straight from the high street Lisa Snowdon is proving once again that she knows exactly how to turn heads, and serve up a stylish look. This time in a chic high street crochet dress that's as flattering as it is affordable. Presenting a segment on how to wear crochet during This Morning, Lisa went for an on-theme look, sporting the Peach Pink Summer Crochet Knitted Maxi Dress from Lipsy. This curve-flattering dress sparked a number of compliments from fans who couldn't get enough of her summer look, which is perfect for the current heatwave. The crochet knit, eye-catching chevron pattern, and subtle metallic sparkle give the dress that perfect mix of boho chic and glam. The pattern reminds us of popular styles from designer brand, Missoni, but for hundreds less. Priced at £62 and available to purchase online at Next, this high-street piece is definitely more affordable than some other crochet pieces on the market. Due to the intricate process of making crochet items, these often have high prices. Whether you pair it with strappy sandals for a beachside dinner or wedges for a summer party, this is the kind of dress that will make you feel fabulous and stand out at any occasion. And Lisa isn't the only fan of this dress, with shopper reviews backing up the flattering fit and chic look. One shopper wrote: "Beautiful colour and style, I have received lots of compliments when I have worn it." While a second added: "Great dress. Very flattering and length is perfect." One reviewer did note that the dress is rather see-through and will need a slip underneath if you don't want to show too much skin. They said: "Beautiful dress! Needed undercoat as I didn't realise how see through it was. But it fits great and looks pretty." Another presenter whose style we've been loving is Good Morning Britain's Ranvir Singh. Presenting the breakfast show on her birthday, Ranvir opted for a gorgeous, floaty midi dress from Phase Eight. The Kailey Midi Dress, priced at £139, features feminine puff sleeves and chic pleats combined with a breezy, voluminous skirt that is perfect for keeping you cool in warm weather. Made from a mixture of Lyocell TENCEL, and linen, the dress has natural moisture-wicking properties, making this midi airy and breathable in the summer heat. Earlier this summer, the GMB presenter also sported the Pink Denim Rosie Midi Dress from Nobody's Child, which is currently on sale for £45 down from £75, and is selling fast. Featuring short fluttery sleeves, a feminine V-neckline, and a fit-and-flare silhouette, this midi the perfect for summer office dressing or casual days out.
