Elon Musk Said He Would 'Walk The Line Personally' Following $16.5 Billion Samsung Deal, Is this A Return To 'Wartime CEO' Mode?

Yahoo6 days ago
Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA) CEO Elon Musk recently announced he will be closely involved with Samsung Electronics (OTC:SSNLF) manufacturing the EV giant's next-gen AI6 chip following a $16.5 billion deal.
What Happened: Taking to social media platform X, Musk announced the deal with Samsung on Monday. "Samsung's giant new Texas fab will be dedicated to making Tesla's next-generation AI6 chip," Musk said before adding that the deal had significant strategic importance.Trending: 7,000+ investors have joined Timeplast's mission to eliminate microplastics—now it's your turn to
However, what was interesting was the billionaire's comments after. Replying to the original post, Musk said that the deal was a critical point. "I will walk the line personally to accelerate the pace of progress," he said.
This could signal Musk's renewed focus on his companies after a stint in politics and activism with the Trump administration and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Could this be a 'Wartime CEO' moment for Musk? Well, this isn't the first time Musk has expressed full commitment to his companies.Musk had earlier said in a post that he would "spend seven days a week" and would sleep at the office if his kids were away. That too wasn't an isolated case, as Musk had also shared that he would be "Back to spending 24/7 at work and sleeping in conference/server/factory rooms," following outages experienced by social media platform X.He added that he would 'be super focused on 𝕏/xAI and Tesla (plus Starship launch next week), as we have critical technologies rolling out."Why It Matters: Musk's renewed commitment to his businesses could be a confidence booster for investors following a disappointing Q2 earnings call for Tesla that saw the EV giant post a 12% revenue decline as well as dwindling sales figures across multiple regions.
Despite this, Musk has remained optimistic and promised to release a new affordable Model Y, a decision that has been slammed by critics as it could lead to cannibalization within the company's lineup.
Musk has also laid out ambitious targets of producing over 100,000 units of the Optimus robot annually in 5 years and serving about half of the population of the U.S. with robotaxis by the end of the year.
Elsewhere, Musk's SpaceX also aims to conduct a test launch of its Starship rocket next month and the billionaire has said that the next major milestone for the company is to achieve orbital propellant refilling.

The charts show Tesla shares could be on the verge of a big swing, Katie Stockton says

The chart of Tesla Inc. (TSLA) shows uncertainty on the part of investors, with fickle price action keeping the stock tethered to its 200-day moving average (MA). Following April's recovery, the stock entered a consolidation phase characterized by volatile swings within a tightening range. This has resulted in a triangle pattern, with TSLA now approaching the lower boundary of that formation near $295. Weakened short-term momentum has characterized the recent downdraft into this support level, which is bolstered by the daily cloud model (shaded area on the chart). However, short-term oversold conditions may help prevent a breakdown. From a longer-term perspective, TSLA remains below resistance from the weekly cloud model, and the weekly MACD is pinched in a reflection of weakened intermediate-term momentum. A crossover would imply downside follow-through, noting also the weekly stochastics are trending lower with room to oversold levels, supporting a breakdown below triangle support. Currently, the weekly cloud model puts initial resistance near $314, and the triangle's upper boundary is near $330. It would be good to see TSLA reclaim these levels. If a triangle breakdown occurs (below $295), secondary support is approximately $273 based on a Fibonacci retracement level. With applications beyond TSLA, we would note that triangle patterns often precede significant directional moves, and breakouts (either up or down) tend to result in immediate follow-through. With this in mind, we would monitor the pattern's boundaries closely. —Katie Stockton with Will Tamplin Access research from Fairlead Strategies for free here . Tesla Gains on Elon Musk's New Pay Package. Is TSLA Stock a Buy?

Tesla (TSLA) is in focus on Monday following news the EV maker has awarded 96 million of its shares as an interim pay package to its billionaire chief executive, Elon Musk. At the current price of $308 per share, the announced pay package essentially translates to roughly $29 billion, which will vest in two years, as per the automaker's filing with the SEC today. Tesla stock has recovered sharply from its April low, but has been consolidating near the $300 level in recent weeks. Significance of Musk's Pay Package for Tesla Stock The interim pay package is significant as it signals TSLA's commitment to retaining Musk amidst leadership uncertainty and fierce competition. Tying $29 billion in equity to his continued role may enable the multinational to stabilize investor confidence and ensure strategic continuity, especially as Tesla pivots toward artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics. Supporters argue that Elon Musk's vision is irreplaceable and this decision removes a major overhang on TSLA shares. Critics, however, may see it as excessive, especially given recent earnings declines and governance concerns. Piper Sandler Reiterates Bullish View on TSLA Shares Tesla shares are currently trading about 15% below their recent high, which Piper Sandler analyst Alexander Potter views as an opportunity for long-term investors to load-up on the EV stock. In his research note on Monday, Potter said 'shareholders shouldn't be losing sleep' over TSLA's legal battles, sales slowdown, or valuation metrics. Why? Because the analyst believes the company's commitment to Full Self-Driving (FSD) will dictate its stock price trajectory in the years ahead. Note that CEO Musk recently predicted that about 50% of the U.S. population will have access to Tesla's unsupervised Full Self-Driving (FSD) by 2026. Piper Sandler currently has a $400 price target on TSLA stock, indicating potential upside of more than 29% from here. Wall Street Rates Tesla Stock a 'Hold' Investors should still practice caution, as other Wall Street analysts do not share Potter's optimism on Tesla stock. According to Barchart, the consensus rating on TSLA shares currently sits at 'Hold,' with the mean price target of about $300 indicating potential downside of more than 3% from current levels. Elon Musk says the Vine archive is coming back

Elon Musk recently announced that he's bringing back the Vine archives , after teasing the return of the social platform over the last week or so. The X owner says that the company recently discovered the entire video archive of the once-popular short-form video app and is working to restore user access. Twitter bought Vine all the way back in 2012. Musk says that X users will be able to post these Vines, but it's just an archive. In other words, this doesn't sound like a renaissance for the actual platform. It remains unclear as to what Musk's intentions are for the brand, but the announcement about the returning archive was accompanied by an ad for the Grok Imagine video-creation platform . He called the service the "AI Vine." Why expand energy to make short-form content when you can type some words into a prompting field? There's also the Musk of it all. He doesn't have the best track record when it comes to delivering on promises . We'll just have to wait and see if the Vine video archive actually returns and what happens after that. For the uninitiated, Vine was sort of like TikTok before TikTok. It was a platform for 6-second looping videos. The app was extremely popular for a while, but Twitter never really capitalized on that after its $30 million purchase. It was shut down in 2016, which ended uploads, and was completely discontinued in 2017 .
