Tanvi The Great, directed by , had a glittering premiere night in Mumbai on Thursday, July 17. The event turned into a heartwarming celebration with family, close friends and Bollywood celebrities in attendance to support Kher's return to direction.
Among those who graced the evening were Kirron Kher, Mahesh Bhatt, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda and many others. But one of the most touching moments came when Anupam Kher was spotted carrying his adorable grandson, Nirvair, in his arms, strolling down the red carpet and striking poses for the paparazzi alongside his niece. The candid moment has since gone viral, winning hearts online.
Kirron Kher, who has largely stayed away from the limelight following her multiple myeloma diagnosis in 2020, made a rare appearance at the screening. Dressed in a pink traditional outfit, she arrived with her son Sikander Kher and was seen walking hand-in-hand with Anupam Kher. And this sight has struck an emotional chord with many.
Comedians Krushna Abhishek and Kiku Sharda, both of whom share a close bond with the Kher family, were also in attendance. Late Satish Kaushik's wife Shashi and daughter Vanshika turned up at the premiere in a show of support for Kher, who shared a decades-long friendship with the veteran actor.
Anupam Kher's niece, Tanvi, whose life inspired the story of the film, also attended the premiere. She posed for pictures with lead actress Shubhangi Dutt and Kher himself.
Tanvi The Great tells the story of Tanvi Raina (Shubhangi Dutt), a 21-year-old woman on the autism spectrum who sets out to fulfil her late father's dream of saluting the national flag at Siachen Glacier by joining the Indian Army. She was raised by her mother, Vidya (Pallavi Joshi) and grandfather Colonel Pratap Raina (Anupam Kher).
The film marks Kher's comeback as a director and has already received global appreciation during its festival screenings in Cannes, New York, Houston, and London.
Tanvi The Great hit theatres on July 18 and is currently clashing with other releases like Saiyaara and Nikita Roy at the box office.

I recently met a lady outside the theater who hugged me tightly and started crying, saying this was the best film she has ever watched," Kher added. Kher's remarks provided a much-needed break in a society that is fixated on numbers. 'You don't value everything based only on money. Agar paisa hi sab kuch hota, to phir log hamesha five-star hotel me hi khate na, dhaba koi kyu jata?" He revealed that he firmly supports his film in spite of the poor collections.
