Lokesh Kanagaraj says he deserves Rs 50 cr salary for Coolie, responds to question about Rajinikanth's pay cheque: ‘It's a Rs 400 crore film'
While talking to THR India, Lokesh shared how he has never given box office numbers and reviews much importance, and even though he has given his heart and soul to the film, he chooses to detach himself from it and what the rest of the world thinks. 'After the release day, I think I am going to Bali. I am not going to sit here and listen to the numbers. I will watch the three shows of the film on the day of the release; we'll all have a party that night, and the next day I will disappear somewhere with my school friends without telling my team. I will be gone for a minimum of three to four days, and once everything is over and the critics have said their piece, I'll come back then.'

He revealed how, despite his unique routine after the release of the film, he always feels responsible for how the project does in the market and how certain people can never sleep peacefully until their film is a success. He said, 'Only three people have to be worried about the film. The hero, if it's a market film, the director and the producer. A technician working on the film doesn't care about the number, but those three people are always under the gun. You are only as good as your last film; if someone asks about my salary of Rs 50 crore, it is because of the success of the previous film, Leo.'
Talking more about his fees for the film, Lokesh stated that he feels that the amount is completely justified, and although he didn't reveal how much stars like Rajinikanth or Aamir Khan are charging, he did talk about the total expanse of the budget and how taking that responsibility should come with the proper compensation. 'While I don't want to talk about Rajini sir's salary, I think I deserve the Rs 50 crore; I am going to pay tax on it, and two years of my life have gone to this project alone. It's a Rs 400 crore film, and there is a lot of responsibility riding on my shoulders. I am very excited about it, and if the film does well and we earn a lot, all that money is going to help my family and friends, with whom I lost touch during the time I was working on Coolie.'
Seeing the stellar cast, and Lokesh's previous track record, Coolie seems to be pegged for a massive opening come release day. The makers of the film and all the stars associated with it will hope to create more than just a dent in the box office.

'Superman' box office collections day 8: James Gunn's film slows down; still steady at Rs 37 Cr India net
(Picture Courtesy: Facebook) After a strong opening week, 'Superman' (3D) entered its second Friday with a noticeable dip in momentum. The film, which marked the beginning of James Gunn's new DC Universe, added an estimated Rs 1.50 crore to its India net collection on Day 8 as reported by the Sacnilk website. This takes the total earnings to Rs 37 crore across all languages in the domestic market. The 3D action spectacle, led by David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan, had wrapped up its Week 1 with Rs 35.5 crore, driven largely by strong weekend numbers. But with the arrival of new releases and a dip in word-of-mouth traction in certain regions, Superman is now showing signs of the typical second-week slowdown. Superman The Immigrant? James Gunn's Bold Take On Hero's Identity Sets Fans Off In A Fiery Debate Occupancy slips, especially in Hindi and regional markets The overall English 3D occupancy on Friday, July 18, stood at 19.18%, with a steady rise through the day—starting at 6.72% in the morning and climbing to 34.86% by night. However, the Hindi version saw a stark decline. Morning shows clocked just 3.57% occupancy, and even night shows only reached 7.53%. Tamil and Telugu markets also had an average occupancy hovering around 14–15%. Where the film stands now While the Rs 1.50 crore haul on Day 8 suggests slowing footfall, the film's positioning as the foundational entry into DCU Phase One might keep the momentum alive through the weekend. ETimes review for the film reads, "Superman is entertaining, enjoyable, even epic but never intense. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Is it legal? The director's unyielding need to go traditional comes at a cost. It is still a tremendous cinematic experience that deserves to be watched in IMAX." With competition heating up and word-of-mouth now mixed, the next few days will be crucial in determining whether Superman can fly past the Rs 50 crore India net mark or plateau in the mid-40s. For now, it holds steady—but the cape is flapping in slightly gentler winds.

It stumbles when balancing character depth with creature spectacle, but it soars when the hybrids take flight. It stumbles when balancing character depth with creature spectacle, but it soars when the hybrids take flight. " There are also mixed responses for the film. As it enters its third weekend, the film is expected to cross Rs 5000 crore in global earnings soon which is an achievement that would place it among the top-grossing films of all time. In India, the movie is expected to rake in more numbers in the coming days, indicating that the audiences still love the series even though there is nothing new or exciting in the recent installments.
