Liverpool have added a new section to their website as a tribute to Diogo Jota following his untimely death.
On July 3, Jota and his brother, Andre Silva, died when when their car crashed in the early hours in northern Spain.
The 28-year-old forward had recently married his childhood sweetheart at a ceremony in his native Portugal following a campaign culminating in trophy-winning successes for both club and country.
Following the incident Liverpool announced that Jota's No 20 would be immediately retired for all levels following consultation with his widow and his family.
Since then, the club have extended the tribute to their official website.
In a section on the site listing the men's first-team squad by position, a link to Jota's profile has been immortalised under the subheading 'forever'.
Now the club have paid tribute to Jota with a 'forever' section on the men's squad section of their website
Jota's profile now contains a tribute to the forward concluding with the statement: 'He will always be our number 20.'
Speaking in his first interview since Jota's death Reds boss Arne Slot insisted that retiring Jota's number was the least the club could do.
'We will always carry him with us in our hearts, in our thoughts, wherever we go,' Slot told Liverpool's website.
'Maybe especially in difficult moments because of what I just said. But in any moment we are here, we will carry him with us in our thoughts and in our hearts.
'To retire his shirt is the one thing we could, should and have done.'
A mural paying tribute to Jota has also recently been completed near Anfield.
Created by artist John Culshaw, the mural depicts Jota smiling and putting his hands together to create a heart.
Liverpool were back in action on Sunday for the first time since Jota's tragic passing.
The Premier League winners travelled to Deepdale to take on Preston in a pre-season friendly that saw Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo pay tribute to Jota by copying his iconic goal celebrations in a 3-1 victory.

Man on a mission Tom Curry fuelled by a sense of grievance as Lions star answers critics in style with bruising, brilliant display against Australia

Tom Curry was driven by a mood of simmering defiance to inspire the Lions to victory, as England's back-row hit man justified his inclusion in the starting XV in emphatic fashion. The 27-year-old flanker lived up to his billing as a 'machine' by head coach Andy Farrell, with a series of big shots in defence, relentless work-rate and commitment, a close-range try and an assist. He touched down just before half-time, then after the break gave a demonstration of his all-court class, juggling the ball to steal an over-thrown lineout then off-loading, before running hard to be in position to deliver the perfectly-timed, decisive pass to send Dan Sheehan over in the corner. Having smashed himself to a near standstill in the cause, Curry had every right to be elated but he was in a tetchy mood as he gave a post-match interview. It became apparent that within the Lions squad, it was perceived that he had been harshly criticised in the build-up to this series opener — and he did little to hide his irritation. Curry had not appeared to perform as well in the tour matches as other contenders for the No 7 shirt, notably Wales captain Jac Morgan. So when he was selected, it was interpreted as a vote for pedigree over form. Aggrieved Welsh fans bemoaned the inclusion of the Englishman over their sole remaining representative. Of course, as someone with a track record of delivering when it matters most, that is exactly what Curry did. It became apparent that proving a point had been motivation for a man who has credit in the bank, having started all three Lions Tests against South Africa in 2021. This was the initial interview sequence… 'Tom, how do you feel? Did you enjoy that?' 'Yeah, good.' 'What's the mood of the team like after dominating, before Australia fought back?' 'Yeah, it was good. Next Test.' 'Are you pleased with your own performance? 'I was happy. It was good.' 'You produced a big hit at the start — did you feel real momentum from that early on? 'Yeah.' 'Are you cheesed off?' 'No, it's just the game. It's what we're here to do.' There were brief flickers of more extensive chat, as Curry discussed how the Wallabies will respond next week in Melbourne, about how the Lions executed their gameplan with 'passion' and how he savoured the support of the vast numbers of Lions fans and his visiting family. But the irritation and the curt answers kept resurfacing. Lions head coach Andy Farrell (left) congratulated Curry with a handshake after the match 'Your arm was being strapped after you came off — do you feel OK?' 'Yeah, it's good. I'm good.' 'You were fired up from the start tonight, how did that feel?' 'I felt good.' 'You just felt ready for it?' 'Yep.' 'And the atmosphere and fans were amazing?' 'Yep.' 'Anything else?' 'It was good.' 'How much more do you think you've got in you for next week?' 'Loads.' 'In what areas?' 'Every area.' 'Was that your type of game?' 'They're all my types of games.' 'Have you picked up on any criticism that you weren't 100 per cent Tom Curry coming into this?' 'No. No.' The point of explaining all this is that it was clearly relevant to Curry's performance. He was evidently fuelled by a sense of grievance about being criticised or undervalued or disrespected. He was a man on a mission and his staggering levels of intensity were testament to that. Farrell had already revealed how the Lions had harnessed what is always termed the 'outside noise' to galvanise them — notably Curry and fellow flanker and star performer, Tadhg Beirne. 'I read all that,' said the head coach, in reference to coverage of the pair's selection for the first Test. 'It was interesting, wasn't it?' Giving his verdict on how they played, he added: 'Immense, absolutely immense. 'Tom Curry put in some really nice shots defensively and Tadhg Beirne got a turnover very early doors and set the tone really.' On Curry, he added: 'For those who know him and his character, that was always going to happen.' It will all be different now. It will be wall-to-wall praise and acclaim. Hitting the heights next week will require different motivational tools, but Curry is sure to find them. That's why he was referred to as a pedigree pick — because he's so often shown his top-level worth.

Maya Jama flaunts her jaw-dropping figure in a TINY bikini before packing on the PDA boyfriend Ruben Dias amid their romantic Ibiza getaway

Maya Jama flaunted her jaw-dropping figure in a tiny bikini before sharing a steamy kiss with boyfriend Ruben Dias amid their sun-soaked Ibiza getaway on Saturday. The Love Island host, 30, took to her Instagram with snaps of her loved up trip with the Manchester City star, 27, as they topped up their tans before enjoying a romantic meal. Maya looked nothing short of incredible in the tiny brown two piece as she relaxed in her luxurious accommodation with incredible sea views. She also posted snaps of a shirtless Ruben who showcased his muscles as he lit a BBQ before later heading off to explore the island on a bike ride. The couple then cosied up while enjoying a swanky meal and leaned in for a smooch as they dined with pals. Maya captioned the post: 'La isla de la magia' which translates to 'The Magic Island' and smitten Ruben quickly commented with a love heart emoji. Maya has been dating Ruben for several months and recently confirmed their romance on social media. The pair have appeared to have gone from strength to strength with the sportsman flying out to Spain to support Maya while she is filming Love Island. As she shared an album of fun snaps soaking up the sun, Ruben also shared some moments with Maya. Alongside the post Ruben confirmed his love for the star and penned: 'Sun, love, crocodiles, some fits and one advice.' And Maya appeared to approve of his sweet declaration as she commented with a love heart and fire emoji. The couple are believed to have met after the stunner caught the Portuguese player's eye when they met at the European Music Awards (EMAs) in November. Their romance was finally confirmed after they were seen packing on the PDA at KSI's Baller League event in April. And posting a snap with her new boyfriend for the first time, Maya looked incredible in a triangle bikini while soaking up some sun on a boat. She was later diving into the water while Ruben filmed her from the top deck. Maya went Instagram official with her boyfriend Ruben earlier this year, when she shared a video for the first time. The TV star was all smiles in the clip as she sat alongside the footballer in a car heading back to her house. The presenter has been seen at multiple football games over the last few months to watch Dias live in action for Man City. Footage of the pair last month showed them with their arms around each other before he leant into her neck for a peck. Ruben tried to fly under the radar and keep a low profile as he stepped out in casual clothes and a cap. A source told The Sun: 'Maya and Ruben seemed very close, very loved up and were clearly very comfortable with each other. 'They were chatting to others around them but gravitated back to each other. They seem very happy with each other.' It was the first time they were seen in public since they were thought to have started dating - though Maya has often hinted at the romance by sharing snaps of flowers she has been sent.

McIlroy takes 'insane' Portrush crowd on Open thrill ride

The emotional rollercoaster Rory McIlroy took the vast, sun-beaten Royal Portrush crowd on during the third round of the Open Championship is best encapsulated by one particularly madcap 30-minute spell early in his back nine. By then, McIlroy's patience had already been stretched by a sequence of six successive pars after a hot start. Then, on the 11th, he encountered the "most weird, ridiculous thing I've ever seen". Having flailed his drive way right on 11, McIlroy was left utterly bewildered when an embedded ball popped up when he struck his own ball. "It's never happened to me before," said McIlroy, whose captivating five-under 66 leaves him six adrift of the relentless Scottie Scheffler."It could never happen on any other course but a links course as well. When the rough is all matted down and the balls get... it was very strange."It didn't produce a disastrous outcome for his own ball, but it evidently left him discombobulated. He left his pitch woefully short, prompting him to furiously slam his club into the turf, and then made bogey. Despite a spirited second-round charge, McIlroy did not make the weekend at 2019 Open at Portrush. He has been stewing on it for six years. This was never going to be dull. The fans knew it, too. On every hole, the crowds that packed into the various grandstands and lined the fairways were indefatigable in their attempts to invigorate their hero. With overnight leader and world number one Scheffler gradually pulling further clear at the top, the thousands following McIlroy needed another little injection of excitement. To their relief, the Masters champion delivered with a spectacular, suspense-filled piece of showmanship on the two fine blows to the back of the green, McIlroy trickled a devilishly quick putt down the slope. It took 11 seconds to reach its destination and when it dropped into the cup, the ground shook."Yeah, this could be one of the coolest moments I've ever had on the golf course," added the 36-year-old. "The roar when the ball went in was insane. It was insane all day, but the noise after that putt went in was incredible." Having watched Oppenheimer (the first hour of it, anyway) and a couple of rugby games between his second and third rounds, McIlroy was primed for whatever the Dunluce Links hurled at him on Saturday. Donning a Tiger Woods-esque red shirt, he flew out of the traps with three birdies in his first four, sending early shockwaves through the County Antrim property when he poured in a 36-footer for an opening further gains at two and four, he stalled. He failed to birdie five and seven - two of the four easiest holes on the course - and let another chance slip through his grasp on 10 before the whirlwind of 11 and 12. He raised the decibels one more time when he hit the top of the pin on 15 and rolled in the resultant three-footer. While he was unable to conjure a grandstand finish at 18, McIlroy gave the Portrush faithful an afternoon they - or he - won't soon forget. Half a dozen strokes in arrears to Scheffler - who carded a bogey-free 67 to open up a four-shot cushion over Li Haotong - McIlroy is unlikely to win. Hoisting the Claret Jug on home turf was, of course, his target, but he seems willing to treat this week as his soul-stirring post-Masters homecoming. McIlroy is 36. It is unclear when Portrush will next host the Open, but there is no guarantee the five-time major winner will still be one of the game's superstars when it does. With that, both player and fans have been keen to savour every moment this week after McIlroy admitted to not holding up his end of the bargain in 2019. The fans certainly have all week. From getting out of their beds for his early-Monday morning practice round to gathering in astonishing numbers on Saturday, they have energised and lifted him at every turn. On Saturday, in particular, the chants of "Rory, Rory, Rory" against the backdrop of roars from other parts of the course gave the afternoon a Ryder Cup Sunday-feel. "I've come here really just trying to embrace it," he said. "If I hadn't have won a major this year, if I hadn't have won the Masters, I might have felt differently. "It's almost a celebration of what I've been able to accomplish. I want to celebrate with them too. I've just really tried to embrace everything this week. "I'm having an incredible time. I'm really enjoying myself, and I feel like I've given myself half a chance now, and I'm excited for tomorrow."
