Dunelm's plug-in wall lights 'look way more expensive' and 'add a premium feel'

Shoppers have praised how easy the lights are to install
Dunelm customers have been singing the praises of a plug-in wall light that doesn't need an electrician to install. The retailer's range of lamps that simply need a plug socket nearby to get up and running are proving extremely popular, with buyers praising both the look and ease of getting them set up.
One of the them with an extremely high rating is the Churchgate Harby Plug In Wall Light that's priced at £40. The stylish light is designed with a white ceramic glazed head, and finished in an antique gold metal and complete with a white twisted cable.
For those concerned about having a cable on show, after all that's traditionally avoided, this particular one is designed in such a way that it's made to look stylish and natural, not like an ugly wire drooping down.
It is worth noting that a bulb is not included, so that will add a bit extra on top. Dunelm has lots to choose from, including the Lois Globe LED Dimmable Bulb (£8), while fancier options include the Status Spiral Filament Bumpy Bulb (£22).
Amazon also stocks the £55.89 KEESFU Plug in Wall Lights. These particular lights have an industrial design and come in a pair, so they cost a more affordable £28 each.
The Amazon lights also have an adjustable height option which is a nice added feature. B&Q also has options like the Harbour Studio Vara Plug-in LED Wall light priced at £37.
This features an antique brass finish that B&Q says "adds a touch of vintage charm to your space". The Dunelm Churchgate light has averaged 4.7 out of 5 from more than 150 reviews to date.
One said: "Beautiful Lights, look way more expensive. Thoroughly recommend these." Another continued: "Looks lovely, good quality and easy to install. Would recommend."
A third went on: "Amazing quality and really adds a premium feel to the bedside. Added these to a room refresh for a beachy look and feel and the quality is great. We've had lovely comments already and love the look."
Despite the overwhelmingly positive feedback, there were a couple of drawbacks highlighted. One such issue mentioned: "Lovely lamps, look more expensive than they are. My one gripe is the switch is a horrible cheap looking plastic one so you have to sort of hide it behind the lamp."
Another noted that the cable was "very kinked".

Maryland's first-in-the-nation tax on digital ads violated Big Tech's free speech, judges say

Maryland's first-in-the-nation tax on digital advertising violated the Constitution, a federal appeals court says, because blocking Big Tech from telling customers about the tax violates the companies' right to free speech. Supporters say Maryland needed to overhaul its tax methods in response to significant changes in how businesses advertise. The tax focuses on large companies that make money advertising on the internet such as Meta, Google and Amazon, who say they're being unfairly targeted. The ongoing legal fight is being watched by other states that are considering taxes for online ads. Maryland estimated the tax could raise about $250 million a year to help pay for a sweeping K-12 education measure. Maryland's law says the companies must not only pay the tax, but avoid telling customers how it affects pricing, with no line items, surcharges or fees, said the appeals court Friday in siding with trade associations fighting the tax. Judge Julius Richardson cited the Colonial-era Stamp Act, which helped spark the Revolutionary War, and wrote that 'criticizing the government — for taxes or anything else — is important discourse in a democratic society.' The plaintiffs contended Maryland lawmakers were trying to insulate themselves from criticism and political accountability by forbidding companies from explaining the tax to their customers. 'A state cannot duck criticism by silencing those affected by its tax,' the judge wrote. The unanimous ruling by the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals reverses a decision by U.S. District Judge Lydia Kay Griggsby and sends the case back to her with instructions to consider an appropriate remedy in light of the panel's decision. Trade groups praised the decision. 'Maryland tried to prevent criticism of its tax scheme, and the Fourth Circuit recognized that tactic for what it was: censorship,' said Paul Taske, co-director of the NetChoice Litigation Center, said in a statement. The law imposes a tax based on global annual gross revenues for companies that make more than $100 million globally. Under the law, the tax rate is 2.5% for businesses making more than $100 million in global gross annual revenue; 5% for companies making $1 billion or more; 7.5% for companies making $5 billion or more and 10% for companies making $15 billion or more. The law has been challenged in multiple legal venues, including Maryland Tax Court, where the case is ongoing. The Maryland General Assembly, which is controlled by Democrats, overrode a veto of the legislation in 2021 by then-Gov. Larry Hogan, a Republican.

This makes investing in a dash cam essential, ensuring you have evidence available should any unexpected incidents occur whilst driving. Safety-minded drivers will be pleased to learn that a highly-rated dash cam has received a substantial price cut on Amazon. Previously priced at a hefty £99.99, the device is currently available with a generous 30 per cent discount, bringing the cost down to just £69.99. With a simple touch, motorists can upload segments of any trip to YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, or alternative social media networks, reports the Daily Record. However, the discounted camera on Amazon has been well-received by drivers, garnering a host of positive reviews. One pleased customer shared: "This dash cam is impressive, with both front and rear coverage. The video quality is sharp and the wide-angle view captures everything you need. It comes with its own app, making it easy to download footage and adjust settings. I'm really satisfied with the purchase-great value for the price." On the other hand, a less content shopper expressed: "Unfortunately this product is not fit for purpose. It cuts out constantly meaning I do not have the security of constant video coverage, which is the reason I bought this dashcam. "I reached out to the supplier for help, who initially replied to my concerns, but unfortunately I did not receive the hard wire kit offered - which apparently may resolve the issue, therefore I would recommend that you buy from a more reliable source as I feel this product has simply been a waste of money." However, a more satisfied customer commented: "One of my favourite features is the parking mode, which can be activated when paired with a hardwiring kit. It gives me peace of mind knowing my vehicle is being monitored even when I'm not around. "The included app is user-friendly and makes it easy to view live or recorded footage on the go. There are also plenty of settings to customize the dashcam to any preferences. All of this can be accessed by taking the included SD card out too."
