During the Spanish Civil War in 1937, thousands of Basque children were evacuated from Bilbao to Britain. Out of these, 56 children found refuge in Newport.
'Many of the Children of '37 have remained in Newport and have brought up their own families in the area as firmly part of the local community,' the club added.
Neal Heard, Newport County's creative director, was behind the ideation of the kit concept and collaboration.
Newport begins its League Two season with a home against Notts County on August 2 before visiting Crawley Town on August 9 for its first away match of the campaign.

Marcus Rashford in final talks to join Barcelona on loan: Report

Barcelona are reportedly making significant progress in their pursuit of Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, according to The Athletic. Insiders told ESPN that the 27-year-old England forward is on the verge to sign a season-long loan move to Barcelona. This comes after he received an approval from his current side to start talks with the La Liga champions. An offer has been made from Barcelona's side via intermediaries to add Rashford to its roster on loan during the next season. The proposal has an option to buy the forward. As of now, the deal has not been finalized, but the talks between the two sides are believed to be in the final stages, The Athletic reported. If all goes well, the transfer could see the LaLiga side covering up the player's full salary for the entire duration of the temporary switch. While at the Manchester United camp, Rashford did train away from the first-team squad during the past two weeks. Coach Ruben Amorim informed him that he did not feature in his plans at Old Trafford. Rashford was out on loan to Aston Villa for six months during the last season. However, this did not end up being a permanent transfer at the pre-agreed fee of $53.6 million, ESPN states. Rashford has looked forward to a switch to Barcelona ever since the possibility of such a transfer came up in January this year. For a long time, Barcelona has been looking forward to adding an attacker, who holds the capability to operate in wide areas. The left-wing position was looked upon as a major priority for them when they were considered short of options towards the end of the last season. Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has spoken to Rashford and even approved his arrival to the squad. For now, Rashford has three years remaining on his contract at Old Trafford, which allows him to earn a whopping £325,000 ($4,35,890) per week, making him one of the top earners in Manchester United. He has appeared in 426 games and scored 138 goals after making his debut with the club in February 2016 at the age of 18. He helped the side bag the Europa League as well as two FA Cup and Carabao Cup wins. He last appeared in the side in December 2024 when it played against Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League. During the winter window of the 2024-25 season, Rashford joined Aston Villa on loan. He scored four goals for the side and made 17 appearances in total. A deal has not been finalized yet, but he is expected to move to the LaLiga side. He scored 138 goals in 426 games. He plays in the forward position.

Marcus Rashford set to join FC Barcelona on loan

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford is set to join La Liga champion FC Barcelona on a loan deal with an option to buy, according to media reports. Reports also suggest that a verbal agreement is in place and that Barcelona is making arrangements for a medical in the days to come. The England international has long been out of favour with United's head coach Ruben Amorim. The 27-year-old last donned the United jersey during the side's Europa League match against Viktoria Plzen in December, 2024. The first instance of a rift between Amorim and Rashford was when the player was left out of the squad for the December 15 Manchester Derby when Alejandro Garnacho was also omitted. While the Argentine youngster returned to Amorim's scheme, Rashford was nowhere to be seen. The United academy graduate even came out and spoke about being ready for a 'new challenge'. In January, Rashford was loaned out to Aston Villa for the rest of the 2024-25 season where he made 10 appearances in the league and had five goal contributions.

Out-of-favour Manchester United star Marcus Rashford close to Barcelona loan: Report

Out-of-favour Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford is edging closer to a loan move to Barcelona, the Athletic reported on Saturday, July 19. Barcelona have made an offer via intermediaries to take Rashford on loan for the upcoming season and the deal includes an option to buy the 27-year-old England international. Rashford wants the move as he has found himself out of Ruben Amorim's plans and recently lost his No.10 jersey to Matheus Cunha. United have agreed to the idea and while the deal isn't done yet, talks between all parties are reportedly at the final stages. Barcelona have been on the lookout for an attacker on the left-hand side after finding themselves out of options last season. They also had their pursuit of Nico Williams go nowhere as the Spanish forward signed a new deal with Athletic Bilbao. advertisementThe Athletic reports that Barca coach Hansi Flick has talked to Rashford and approved the arrival of the England international. Taking Rashford on a temporary basis will also help Barcelona as they continue to navigate through their difficult financial situation. Rashford joined Aston Villla on loan for the second half of last season as he fell out of favour with Amorim. The forward's last appearance for United came on December 12 during an Europa League fixture against Viktoria Plzen. Later on in an interview in December, Rashford admitted that he was ready for a new challenge away from United. Rashford is one of the top earners at United with a reported wage of 325,000 pounds per week. During his time at Villa, Rashford scored four goals in 17 appearances for Unai Emery's side and helped them in their run to the quarter-finals of the Champions League. However, his season was cut-short in April as he suffered a hamstring injury and missed the last four games of the season. He returned United after his loan but was forced to train away from the first team by United and was given time to find a new club. - EndsMust Watch
