Man shot in buttock in drive-by shooting
Officers were called to Fountains Road in Walton, Liverpool, just after 21:00 GMT on Friday but the victim had already left the scene and attended hospital.
Officers said they believed the driver of a car had pulled up alongside him before a passenger in the back of the car opened a door and fired a gun.
The victim's injuries were not life-threatening, Merseyside Police said.
The force has appealed for help in identifying the driver and two passengers in a dark car used in the attack.
Det Insp Mike Fletcher added: "Any information provided will be acted upon. Help us to put the person responsible for firing the gun where he belongs - behind bars."
He said more officers would be on patrol "to reassure the local community", while investigators carry out forensic examinations and house-to-house inquiries.

Authorities were searching for a suspect after four people were fatally shot at a business in Montana, authorities said on Aug. 1. The Montana Division of Criminal Investigation confirmed to USA TODAY that four people were killed in the shooting at approximately 10:30 a.m. Mountain Daylight Time at The Owl Bar in Anaconda, some 108 miles west of Bozeman. The Granite County Sheriff's Office said a suspect connected to the shooting was still at large. A subsequent post from the sheriff's office said the suspect's house had been cleared by a SWAT team. In a Facebook post, the Anaconda-Deer Lodge County Law Enforcement Center identified the suspect as Michael Paul Brown and said they believe he is armed and dangerous. "Public is advised to stay out of the Stumptown area and surrounding areas. If seen, do not approach," officials said. Montana Gov. Man slashes woman's throat on bus then walks off, Oklahoma police say
A man was arrested in Oklahoma after police say he slashed a woman's throat on a bus. Around 1:09 p.m. Aug. 3, police were called for reports of a stabbing, according to a Facebook post from the Tulsa Police Department. According to police, 42-year-old Robert J. Rhoades and a 43-year-old woman both got on the bus at a Walmart stop. Rhoades then sat in the seat behind the woman. The two had no interactions and didn't speak to each other, police said. When the bus arrived at the main station, Rhoades reached around and sliced the woman's throat before getting off the bus and walking away, according to police. When officers arrived, they found Rhoades close by with blood on his clothes and a bloody knife in his pocket, officials said. Homicide detectives were called to the scene because of how severe the woman's injuries were, but doctors remain hopeful she will recover after she underwent surgery. Rhoades was arrested on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and false impersonation, as well as a warrant out of Missouri. Police have not said what led to the assault, but they are recovering surveillance footage from the bus and have spoken with multiple witnesses.

BREAKING: Montou named interim Oakdale marshal after Slaney's arrest, resignation
Craig 'Bubbie' Montou has been named interim Ward 5 Marshal, succeeding Michael 'Freck' Slaney, who recently resigned. Montou, who previously served as chief deputy, will hold the position until an election can be held to officially fill the vacancy. Slaney's resignation follows a federal indictment involving an immigration visa fraud scheme. As of Monday, the Secretary of State's website still lists the position as vacant. Deputy Secretary of State for Communications Joel Watson Jr. said the seat will remain vacant in the state's records until Oakdale submits the minutes from the meeting where Montou was appointed. Mouton announced his appointment on Facebook on Saturday and issued a statement addressing the community's concerns regarding recent events and the future of law enforcement. 'While I understand and share the concerns that many of you have, I would like to focus on the future of the Marshal's Office,' Montou stated. 'I am deeply committed to restoring trust and transparency with the citizens of Ward 5. I also feel that the Marshal's Office needs to be returned to its original purpose which is working closely with the Ward 5 Court. Most importantly, my vision for the Marshal's Office is to act in a community policing style capacity as I feel that this is the best way to serve my community.' He concluded his statement by stating, 'Lastly. I look forward to my time as your marshal as well as the future of the Marshal's Office. I pledge to remain committed to upholding the law equally and with fairness within our community. Personally, I am a very approachable person and as your marshal, that will not change. While I continue to ask for your patience during this transition, I also would like to invite you to bring up your questions, comments, and concerns with me personally if you need to. Communication and transparency between law enforcement and the community is crucial to restoring the trust between us. Again, I would like to thank everyone for their support during this time and I look forward to what the future holds for the area of Ward 5.' Slaney submitted his resignation to the Secretary of State's Office on July 22, a week after his arrest on the federal indictment. He, along with now former Oakdale Police Chief Chad Doyle, former Forest Hill Police Chief Glynn Dixon, and former Glenmora Police Chief Tebo Onishea, were arrested on July 15 following a 62-court federal indictment returned by a grand jury. The indictment alleges that the defendants falsified police reports, listing immigrants as victims of bogus crime to allow them to remain in the country, in exchange for thousands of dollars. According to federal prosecutors the profits from the scheme were used to purchase vehicles, property, and other personal items. Additionally, Oakdale businessman Chandrakat 'Lala' Patel, who received a U-Visa in 2023 as an armed robbery victim, was also indicted. Patel reportedly served as a middleman between undocumented immigrants and law enforcement officials in the scheme, which federal prosecutors say began in December 2015. If convicted, the defendants face significant prison sentences and substantial fines.
