The Studio had an impressive showing at the 2025 Emmy Awards nominations
The Seth Rogen-led comedy series earned a whopping 23 nominations this year, including six nods in the guest star categories
Ron Howard was among the nominees and it marks his first-ever acting nominationThe Studio made a splash amongst the list of nominees for the 2025 Emmy Awards, and even Ron Howard made the list in an acting category.
On Tuesday, July 15, Brenda Song and Harvey Guillén announced this year's nominations and the Seth Rogen-helmed Apple TV+ comedy series earned a whopping 23 nominations.
Among those are nominations for Rogen himself for outstanding lead actor in a comedy series, as well as his costars Kathryn Hahn and Catherine O'Hara for outstanding supporting actress in a comedy series. Ike Barinholtz also scored a nomination in the outstanding supporting actor in a comedy series category.
Howard — who began his career in Hollywood as a child star and famously played Richie Cunningham on Happy Days — earned his first-ever Emmy nomination for acting. His performance in The Studio garnered him a nod for outstanding guest actor in a comedy series. The nomination is the acclaimed director's 14th ever at the Emmys, and he has won three times — for the documentary Jim Henson Idea Man last year, Arrested Development in 2004, and From The Earth To The Moon in 1998.
The other guest stars from The Studio joining him in the category are: Dave Franco, Martin Scorsese, Bryan Cranston and Anthony Mackie.
Zoë Kravitz also earned a nomination for outstanding guest actress in a comedy series.
Mackie, 46, and Howard, 71, overlapped in episode 3 as they worked together on the fictional film Alphabet City, which Franco also "starred" in.
During the episode, Howard broke down crying during a meeting with Rogen's studio head Matt Remick over his critique of the film — and things really crashed and burned when Rogen fell into and destroyed a bar cart after Howard threw his signature baseball hat at him in anger.
Rogen, who co-created the series with Evan Goldberg, told PEOPLE that the director was "so game and so good and really tried so hard" during his days on set.
"[He] worked really hard on the performance and the role and yeah, he was very impressive," he recalled.
Howard also brought some of his own ideas to the scenes, Rogen shared.
"It was his idea to throw his patented Imagine hat at me, which I thought was a true stroke of genius," Rogen said. "For him to weaponize his trademark look was a really miraculously funny idea."

The Studio is now streaming on Apple TV+. The 77th Emmy Awards will air live on Sunday, Sept. 14 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on ABC.

What's Next In The New Superman Franchise And DC Cinematic Universe?

The new Superman movie is storming the box office after arriving in cinemas last week, marking the start of a brand new chapter for the iconic franchise and beyond. We've witnessed plenty of legendary comics and superhero stories undergo numerous reboots over the years, but this one is particularly exciting as it marks the start of a bold new era in the freshly relaunched DC cinematic universe (DCU) helmed by former Marvel director James Gunn. David Corenswet suits up as Clark Kent in the new blockbuster, which also stars Nicholas Hoult, Rachel Brosnahan, Isabela Merced, Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan and Nathan Fillion. As the iconic red-caped hero is reintroduced (albeit to some rather tepid critics' responses), you might be wondering where exactly things are headed next. Allow us to lay it out for you… This is the start of a new DC Cinematic universe A series of superhero movies in the DCU (previously known as the DC Extended Universe) haven't performed so well financially over the past few years, with movies like The Flash, Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom and Shazam: Fury Of The Gods bringing rather disappointing financial returns. In response, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav hired Marvel legend James Gunn and British-American film producer Peter Safran to turn things around and revamp DC Studios. 'Three years ago, I hired James Gunn and Peter Safran to reimagine and unify the creative direction of DC under one leadership team, by breathing new life and excitement into one of the most iconic storytelling franchises in the world,' David said over Superman's opening weekend, according to Variety. 'James and Peter's commitment to honouring the legacy of the DC Universe while forging something new and enthralling is inspired.' The CEO said he knew the Guardians Of The Galaxy director was the right person for the job, because when he spoke about DC characters, 'they were like his family'. The revamped DCU is set to be divided into chapters, starting out under the title of Gods And Monsters. While it technically began with the 2024 animated series Creature Commandos, the new Superman movie is considered to be the 'true beginning of the DCU', as James previously shared. What happened to Henry Cavill's Superman? It seemed there was a bit of confusion in James Gunn's handover period. In December 2022, Henry Cavill – who played the superhero in five movies – announced that he had been droppedby the new studio bosses less than two months after he announced his return. 'I have just had a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran and it's sad news, everyone. I will, after all, not be returning as Superman,' the Man Of Steel actor said. 'After being told by the studio to announce my return back in October, prior to their hire, this news isn't the easiest, but that's life.' Henry continued: 'The changing of the guard is something that happens. I respect that. 'James and Peter have a universe to build. I wish them and all involved with the new universe the best of luck, and the happiest of fortunes.' However, in February 2023, director James denied sacking the actor. 'We didn't fire Henry,' he told journalists, according to the BBC. 'Henry was never cast.' He added: 'For me, it's about, who do I want to cast as Superman, and who do the filmmakers we have want to cast? And for me, for this story, it isn't Henry.' Will there be more Superman movies? While there's been no official announcement just yet, James Gunn has confirmed that he's working on a second Superman film. 'What I'm working on is in some way…I mean, yes, yes, yes, yes,' he responded in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. 'But is it a straight-up Superman sequel? I would not say necessarily.' And if previous superhero franchises are anything to go by, we can be pretty confident that there might be even more movies after that. What new films are coming in the DCU? So far, the creative duo has mapped out a 10-year plan of stories and spinoffs. In a recent statement (per Variety), David shared: 'This weekend, we watched Superman soar as James Gunn's passion and vision came to life on the big screen. Superman is just the first step.' For those of you who have already watched Superman, you'll know that a brand new Supergirl is introduced in a brief cameo from Milly Alcock. The House Of The Dragon and Sirens star is set to take the lead in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow (due out sometime in 2026) helmed by I, Tonya director Craig Gillespie. "She's a total mess. I mean, I think as we learn, she's had a completely different background from #Superman. A much more difficult background. He's had this wonderful upbringing by these two parents that loved him and were very healthy. And her background was much different than… — Screen Rant (@screenrant) July 14, 2025 So far, James has teased that her character is going to be a 'total mess', as he told ScreenRant, adding that she has 'a completely different background fromSuperman'. Also in development is a new instalment in the Batman universe called Clayface starring White Lines actor Tom Rhys Harries in the lead role with Speak No Evil director James Watkins. The body horror follows a shape-shifting creature made of clay which stalks Gotham City, serving as both a villain and ally of Batman. Then there's the upcoming HBO Max series Lanterns which is also due out in 2026. It will star Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre in the leading roles as 'intergalactic cops' who investigate a murder in Nebraska, with True Detective showrunner Chris Mundy on board as showrunner. Earlier this year, James Gunn also revealed that a new Wonder Woman is in the works, telling Entertainment Tonight that it was 'being written right now', alongside an HBO series called Paradise Island about the Amazons of Themyscira. If all of these projects sound like they're about to be wildly different from one another, that's because, well, they are. Speaking to IGN, James Gunn said each project in the new universe 'has its own stamp'. '[Superman] is very different from the R-rated movie we're making, a body horror movie with Clayface,' he explained. 'It's very different from the Sgt. Rock movie we're developing. It's very different from Supergirl, which is a space fantasy…So every one of these movies is completely different.' As and for how – or if – each of these stories will interconnect and cross over, time will only tell. Related... Loved The New Superman? Here's Destiny 2's List Of Disabled Raid Race Gear As Broken Bugs Pile Up

Choir of One Destiny 2 will be launching its Desert Perpetual raid today, and with that, comes a race to see who can complete it first, a staple of the series. Contest mode for the race, the most challenging difficulty, will be live for 48 hours. Those who complete it will get an emblem and bragging rights, but as for those first completions, that should be later today. I mean, we've had 24 hour races in the past, but I sort of doubt it for this one. If you're gearing up to head into the Destiny raid today, racing or not, there are a list of disabled items that you'll need to be aware of if you were planning to take them in. The list is not that long at this point, but I'm willing to bet it may grow here in the next few hours. I'm basing it on this Bungie Help post here, but again, I will add more if I need to. Exotic Armor Perk – Spirit of the Liar (disabled all across Destiny 2) Weapons: Outbreak Perfected, Third Iteration, Choir of One, Icebreaker I know that new exotic scout Third Iteration is doing 150% of the damage it's supposed to when you have anti-barrier on it. I know that Choir of One has re-boosted its huge reserves, seemingly by accident. I'm not sure about the other two, however, and Outbreak Perfected is a pretty common choice for exotics in many situations, so that's a bummer. In a less important move, Bungie has disabled bounty and weapon leveling progression for kills in the raid, as that helps ease server strain (nothing kills a race faster than server strain). Destiny 2 FEATURED | Frase ByForbes™ Unscramble The Anagram To Reveal The Phrase Pinpoint By Linkedin Guess The Category Queens By Linkedin Crown Each Region Crossclimb By Linkedin Unlock A Trivia Ladder However, needless to say there are still some…concerns with the integrity of the raid race. There was just this dust-up about a rapid farm of the exotic mission Encore which was skyrocketing the power level of players for three days before it was disabled, netting them early access to higher tier gear. What is or isn't turned off in terms of the benefits this gives is a bit unclear, though the new system is meant to be around boosted damage reduction and high damage on the new tiered gear. Then there are just a million potential oversights from Bungie in terms of how the totally new build system works, with stats now going to 200 and all of them being fundamentally changed in terms of the benefits they bring. I am seeing some new apparently broken build every few hours. One I'm working on is from (frequent World's First winner) Saltagreppo who has an apparently almost unkillable grapple-based Prismatic Hunter build running already. Nothing about that is disabled, for instance. I've also seen things like new forms of infinity super chaining, and we just don't know what else is going to be pulled out here. Neither does Bungie, I imagine, so it's going to be a free-for-all. Fun? Maybe. But expect the outcome of the race to potentially be controversial. Follow me on Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram.
