Participating at the city-level convention in Tirupati as part of the party's centenary celebrations in India, the CPI leader spoke about the perennial relevance of the Leftist movement.
'The Red Flag remains a ray of hope for the country's future. The people-oriented parties will join hands with the Communists in the days to come to put an end to the fascist rule,' Mr. Ramakrishna said.
'The Leftist movement in India is still a force to reckon with today, because of the sacrifices in the freedom movement and enduring sufferings for the sake of the downtrodden. The BJP-led NDA government is bent on benefitting the capitalists, trampling upon the rights of the citizens and making a mockery of the Constitution,' Mr. Ramakrishna alleged.
Taking a jibe at the 'double engine growth', he said it has pushed the country into debts instead of propelling growth. The party leader faulted the State government-led by N. Chandrababu Naidu for failing to implement the 'Super Six' schemes and in the same vein, flayed the former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for trying to foment trouble by inciting his cadre to resort to violence.

Once again, an incident of language row has come to light in Maharashtra's capital, Mumbai, where an argument over a seat on a local train turned into a full-blown language war, with one woman telling the other to learn Marathi or 'get out'. The incident happened on Friday evening in the crowded ladies' compartment on the Central Line. The incident was also captured on camera and shared on social media platforms. The video that went viral on social media, showed six to seven women arguing over a seat. During the debate, one woman criticised another female passenger for not speaking in Marathi language. This incident came amid ongoing language row in Maharashtra, with Raj Thackeray's Maharashtra Navnirman Sena party workers being condemned for targeting and abusing people for not speaking in Marathi. Earlier this month, a shopkeeper in Mumbai's Vikhroli area was assaulted by MNS workers over a WhatsApp status deemed offensive to Marathi people. The video of the incident showed the shopkeeper being forced to apologise publicly while being assaulted. Recently, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray asserted that he would not accept any attempt by the Maharashtra government to implement a three-language policy in the state. Meanwhile, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray on Friday said if Hindi was made mandatory for Classes 1 to 5 in schools in Maharashtra, his party will "shut down schools". Speaking at a rally at Mira Bhayandar near Mumbai, he referred to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis's latest averment that Hindi will be taught in state schools at any costs. Thackerayalso hit back at BJP MP Nishikant Dubey's controversial "patak-patak ke maarenge" remarks. In a counter-attack, Raj Thackeray said, 'A BJP MP said, 'Marathi logon ko hum yahan pe patak patak ke maarenge'... You come to Mumbai. Mumbai ke samundar mein dubo dubo ke maarenge.'

Case against NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar for shouting at police in Mumbai
The Mumbai police have registered a case against NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar for allegedly obstructing public servants in discharging duty after he shouted at a policeman, an official said on Sunday (July 20, 2025). Rohit Pawar, the grandnephew of NCP (SP) head Sharad Pawar, got engaged in a heated exchange with a policeman at Mumbai's Azad Maidan police station on Friday (July 18, 2025). The incident unfolded after Rohit Pawar had gone to the Azad Maidan police station along with NCP (SP) MLA Jitendra Awhad to meet an injured party worker following a clash in the Maharashtra Vidhan Bhavan building between supporters of Awhad and BJP legislator Gopichand Padalkar on Thursday (July 17, 2025). After the clash, members of both the groups were detained inside the Vidhan Bhavan and were eventually handed over to the police. During the visit to the police station, Rohit Pawar was seen shouting at a sub-inspector in Marathi, 'Keep your voice down, keep your voice down. If you raise your hand, I will teach you a lesson.' Based on a complaint, a case has been registered against Rohit Pawar for allegedly obstructing public servants in discharging duty, an official said.

The Monsoon Session of Parliament is set to begin on Monday where the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government and the Opposition are likely to have a standoff on multiple issues, including the revision of electoral rolls ahead of Bihar Assembly polls. The session, which starts on July 21, will continue till August 21. Ahead of the start of the session on Monday, the government convened an all-party meeting on Sunday, July 19. Leaders who attended the meeting included Congress Members of Parliament (MPs) K Suresh and Jairam Ramesh, Union minister Anupriya Patel, NCP-SCP MP Supriya Sule, Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde, and BJP MP Ravi Kishan.
