First look at Scots Harry Potter star in HBO series as filming is underway

Daily Record5 days ago
Dominic McLaughlin's casting as the heroic wizard in the new HBO TV adaptation of JK Rowlings books was confirmed earlier this year,
Production is now underway for the new HBO Original Harry Potter television series, with fans getting a sneak peak at some of the cast in their costume for the first time.
Scottish star Dominic McLaughlin will be in the leading role of Harry Potter himself, when the series, which is currently being filmed by Warner Bros, makes its debut in 2027. It will first be released on HBO and HBO max, before being rolled out to the wider UK.

There's also plans for it to be stretched out to Germany and Italy. Dominic, 11, was confirmed back in May to have secured the role of the wizard scar on his head. The boy wizard was first brought to life by Daniel Radcliff more than two decades ago.

And now fans are finally getting a glimpse at the young star in costume, sporting the chilling lightning bolt scar and staple black glasses.
It comes as HBO confirmed several new roles being cast, including Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley, Louise Brealey as Madam Rolanda Hooch, and Anton Lesser as wandmaker Garrick Ollivander.
The new series, based on JK Rowling's bestselling franchise, will see Dominic step into the role of Harry Potter alongside Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley.
Back in September last year, a casting call reportedly resulted in around a staggering 32,000 children auditioning for the leading roles as the team were left reviewing 1,000 tapes per day according to HBO.
Aside from his starring role in the upcoming wizarding production, Dominic also appeared in William Shakespeare's Macbeth at the Royal Highland Centre in Edinburgh.

He brushed shoulders with three-time Oscar-nominated actor Ralph Fiennes and Luther actress Indira Varma. So although Harry Potter could be big shoes to fill, this young star is no stranger to the world of showbiz.
Elsewhere, he studied in Glasgow at the Performance Academy Scotland. He has also been billed to appear in upcoming BBC action adventure series Gifted, that saw over 3,000 Scottish children apply to be on the show.

Francesca Gardiner, the showrunner, and director Mark Mylod expressed their excitement about the casting: "After an extraordinary search led by casting directors Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann, we are delighted to announce we have found our Harry, Hermione, and Ron."
They further stated: "The talent of these three unique actors is wonderful to behold, and we cannot wait for the world to witness their magic together onscreen. We would like to thank all the tens of thousands of children who auditioned. It's been a real pleasure to discover the plethora of young talent out there."
The forthcoming HBO series is set to be a faithful adaptation of. Rowling's iconic novels, with the author credited as an executive producer.
It's been previously suggested that the studio is optimistic about the series being as successful and well-received as the films, with hopes of it running for a minimum of 10 years. The series is penned and executive produced by Francesca Gardiner, known for her work on Killing Eve and His Dark Materials. Multiple episodes will be directed by Mark Mylod, renowned for directing several episodes of the HBO hit series Succession.

Yellowstone star, 54, marries weather presenter fiancée, 34, in Vatican wedding

Yellowstone star Josh Lucas, 54, has tied the knot with his 34-year-old fiancée Brianna Ruffalo in the Vatican. The actor, known for his roles in films including Sweet Home Alabama and Ford v Ferrari, and weather presenter Brianna Ruffalo announced on Friday that they had said their vows at the official residence of the Pope in Rome, Italy. Brianna, who works for ABC7 in Los Angeles, captioned an Instagram carousel from their special day: 'Mr and Mrs Incredibly blessed to receive this sacrament together inside the heart of the Catholic Church and holy city.' She shared a selection of snaps from their ceremony inside one of the chapels, which showed Josh planting a kiss on her inside the church and photos of them posing outside the famous St Peter's Basilica. 'I love you! Easily one of the greatest days of my life. I am so so grateful,' Josh wrote in the comments section as others rushed to share their congratulations, including Brianna's ABC7 colleagues. He also shared photos on his account as he thanked people for who helped 'make the dream of wedding in the Vatican come true'. 'Congratulations my friend. This is the good stuff,' commented White Lotus star Walton Goggins while Oscar and Emmy-winning actress Alison Janney shared her good wishes and House of Cards' Michael Kelly added: 'Perfect!!! Congratulations yall!!!' Brianna gave a hint at what it entails to get married in the holy location – something only open to Catholic couples – in a follow-up post on Saturday evening, where she shared a gorgeous portrait of her and her husband posing on a balcony outside together in their wedding finery, heads together. 'We are grateful to the many people who helped us get to this moment in the Catholic Church,' she began. 'I am so thankful for Father Winters at the parish I grew up in, and Sister Angelica at the archdiocese of Los Angeles – as well as several others within the archdiocese. 'We also absolutely couldn't have done this without our stellar wedding planning team who coordinated with the Vatican. Thank you for making our wedding day so beautiful and easy.' Upon announcing their engagement last July, the American Psycho actor – who has recently delighted fans by portraying the young version of Kevin Costner's character John Dutton on smash-hit cowboy show Yellowstone – shared that he was 'grateful and thrilled' that Brianna had agreed to be his wife after he popped the question during a romantic Italian holiday. The happy couple, who had been together for almost two years, shared their news on Instagram, with a tearful Brianna laughing as she showed off her diamond ring while musicians played Elvis Presley's Can't Help Falling in Love. Josh captioned his post: 'For the last 2 years in every way and every day this beautiful soul has made me and my life better, deeper, and more whole. 'I am so grateful and thrilled she said 'Yes'. I WAY love you Brianna. Thank you to our families and all the people and places that made this come true. I am absolutely aware I got crazy lucky.' Meanwhile, Brianna said that accepting Josh's proposal was the 'easiest and best question' she'd ever answered. She wrote on her own page: 'Almost 2 years ago this fall, and with no expectations, Josh walked into my life… and we knew almost immediately we had each found our person in a way we've never experienced – on every level. This was the easiest and best question I've ever answered. So, here's to forever with my love, my best friend. I can't wait to keep living this life with you.' Josh was previously married to ex-wife Jessica Ciencin Henriquez, with whom he shares 13-year-old son Noah. The former couple were engaged six weeks after meeting in 2011, marrying in 2012 and then divorcing in 2014. More Trending He previously joked that Brianna is 'fully' on the side of Patrick Dempsey's character Andrew Hennings in his classic 2002 rom-com Sweet Home Alabama. The movie sees Reese Witherspoon's Melanie Smooter leave her fiancé Andrew for Josh's character Jake Perry at the end of the film. He told Entertainment Tonight: 'In [Brianna's] mind, she's like, 'But you're the guy that kind of ruined their relationship!' 'The funny thing is once she said that, all these people have come up to me and been like, 'Yeah, I was Team Patrick too.'' Got a story? Inside Noel Gallagher's tense feud with Lewis Capaldi and 'third world' Scotland

Noel Gallagher is no stranger to causing controversy and that was certainly the case when he branded Scotland a 'third world country' and reignited his feud with Lewis Capaldi Noel Gallagher might be gearing up for the Oasis shows in Scotland, but he's previously hit out at one of the country's biggest stars. Liam and Noel are set to rock Murrayfield with three gigs on August 8, 9, and 12, each expected to draw mammoth crowds of over 67,000. The anticipation is palpable as thousands still hope to get their hands on a last-minute ticket, but some Scots may have their excitement dampened upon recalling Noel harsh past comments about Scotland. Despite his then-wife Sara McDonald being from Edinburgh, Noel once went so far as to label Scotland a "third world country" during an interview. Adding to the controversy, the singer has also had a spat with one of Scotland's most loved singers, Lewis Capaldi, who is often praised for his grounded personality, witty humour, and exceptional musical gift. The feud ignited when Noel admitted on Radio X in 2019 that he was clueless about the Scottish vocalist. At the time, Lewis's first album, Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent, had soared to number one in the UK and Ireland, becoming the year's quickest selling album. Noel didn't mince words about the current state of music, declaring: "Music is f***ing w*** at the moment". He then took a swipe at the Glasgow-born Capaldi, asking: "Who's this Capaldi fella? Who the f***'s that idiot?" In typical Capaldi style, the Scottish singer had fans in stitches as he took to Instagram stories to mockingly celebrate Noel's disparaging remarks. While watching the interview, Capaldi exclaimed: "F***ing c'mon! F***ing peaked – slagged off by Noel Gallagher!" He continued with glee: "Number 1 single – who gives a f**k? Number 1 album – who gives a f**k? Noel Gallagher has just slagged me off. This is dreams coming true." Capaldi didn't hold back, cheekily wishing Gallagher a happy Father's Day while playing Oasis' 2002 anthem Stop Crying Your Heart Out. Noel quickly retorted with a tweet mocking Lewis' hit 'Someone You Loved', featuring a video of his then 11-year-old pretending to weep to the song. His tweet read: "@LewisCapaldi you big daftie. You might wanna try and find some joy in your tunes, you're destroying the 11yr old is in bits." Oasis: What's Their Story? An unofficial celebration magazine on sale now! A few simple words on social media on August 27 in 2024 were enough to spark pandemonium among Oasis fans and were the catalyst for the most eagerly awaited UK gigs of all time. This special unofficial magazine, available to order here, marks the reunion and honours the band both now and down the years with our incredible archive of photos and interviews - and with exclusive reviews and photographs of their first show! Undeterred, Lewis rocked up at Glastonbury Festival donning a classic Gallagher-esque parka which he unzipped to reveal a tee emblazoned with the Oasis star's face encased in a heart. Capaldi escalated the banter by posing for a backstage photo with Noel's formerly estranged brother and Oasis bandmate, Liam Gallagher. Noel, clearly irked, mentioned Lewis' antics in a Variety interview and savagely mocked the singer's looks. The High Flying Birds frontman declared: "F****** Chewbacca should enjoy his 15 minutes. The greatest day of his life that I slagged him off or called him an idiot. It's the greatest day of his f****** life so far. He's just thinking 'Wow. Get Oasis updates straight to your WhatsApp! As the hotly anticipated Oasis reunion tour grows closer, the Mirror has launched its very own Oasis WhatsApp community where you'll get all the latest news on the Gallagher brothers and all the information you'll need in the run up to the gigs. "Well, I know you're Scottish and all that, but f****** hell. It is like a third world country, but for f***'s sake, man, you must have had a better day than this. Surely." Lewis had supporters in stitches yet again when he promptly updated his Twitter handle to "Chewis Capaldi" and switched his profile image to a doctored photo showing his face superimposed onto the iconic Star Wars character's body. Nevertheless, the duo have since buried the hatchet and have actually crossed paths on several occasions. Noel has now described Lewis as a "good lad" following all his earlier digs at the singer. Noel and Liam have also set aside their rivalry and are presently touring across the UK as part of their Oasis Live 25 shows. viagogo and resale tickets Sites such as viagogo, Stubhub, and Vivid Seats allow fans to buy resale tickets from other fans. However, it is important to note that ticket conditions often prohibit resale after initial purchase. Those tickets may not be valid for admittance to gigs. Fans intending to buy tickets for live events through resale websites should check the ticket terms and conditions, to confirm whether resale is prohibited, before they buy. Ticket terms and conditions can be checked with the original seller, such as Ticketmaster or Live Nation. If resale is prohibited, tickets bought second-hand could be voided and admission to the event refused.
