Everton running out of time to sign players
Moyes said his club have money to spend but the deals they were hoping to complete have not materialised.
Club sources have distanced themselves from a potential move for Manchester City's unwanted England midfielder Jack Grealish, while an attempt to lure Kenny Tete north from Fulham floundered when the Dutchman opted to sign a new deal at Craven Cottage.
Everton continue to be linked with numerous players and have signed young left-back Adam Aznou from Bayern Munich.
But Moyes said he could offer no guarantees Aznou, 19, would be propelled immediately into the senior starting line-up and said bringing experienced players to Everton this summer was proving troublesome.
"The truth is we're not getting a lot of the deals over the line at the moment, that's a fact," he said to reporters in Chicago before his side's Premier League Summer Series encounter with former club West Ham.
"We're desperate to get things moving on because we know time's running out."
By this weekend, it will be nine weeks since Everton ended their season by beating Newcastle at St James' Park to seal a 13th-placed Premier League finish, their best performance since 2021.
With ambitious new owners and a summer move to their magnificent new stadium, it felt as though a reboot of a once mighty club was on the cards.
It has not turned out the way Moyes imagined.
Four new players, including Aznou and reserve keeper Mark Travers, does not cover for the loss of five experienced regular starters including Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Abdoulaye Doucoure.
Everton drew with League Two Accrington and lost at Championship side Blackburn before heading to the United States for the Premier League Summer Series.
After Saturday's 3-0 defeat by Bournemouth, Moyes, 62, said he needed six more players.
"The one thing I'll do is I'll tell the fans straight, and I'm telling it straight at the moment, we're having a bit of a struggle getting ones in quickly," said Moyes.
"My first thought is yes, I'm surprised, because I think Everton's such a big club, with great traditions and the new stadium's an exciting move for us.
"But when you think again about it, we've been in or around the relegation positions for the last five years, not far off the bottom, so maybe there's been reasons for it."

Center-back is the most obvious given Trey Nyoni, Andy Robertson and Wataru Endo all started at the heart of defense during Monday's double header against Athletic Bilbao. Luis Diaz's departure and the expected exit of Federico Chiesa leaves the Reds with just two recognized senior wingers in Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo. Rio Ngumoha is expected to play a bigger part at first-team level this term, although Slot will be wary of placing too much onus on a 16-year-old's shoulders. Ben Doak could also be an option, but is open to leaving this summer, while Frimpong, Dominik Szoboszlai and Ekitike can all be utilized out wide. But it's still an area of concern for the Reds. Rodrygo has been mentioned as a possible solution, Anthony Gordon's name has again cropped up in media whispers, and Malick Fofana was briefly flavor of the month. On Wednesday, with less than four weeks of the window left, another name emerged. Bradley Barcola will need no introduction to Liverpool supporters. The 22-year-old played in every single Paris Saint-Germain Champions League game en route to winning the competition last season, including the last-16 matches against Liverpool, and provided 21 goals and 21 assists in all competitions. They're staggering numbers, so reports in L'Equipe that the Reds are considering a move for PSG star, while not ruling out a move for Isak too, will have been well received on Merseyside. Transfer reporter Sacha Tavoleieri has since claimed Liverpool is planning a 'concrete offer' and wrote on X that any transfer would be north of €100M ($117M/£87M). Should it happen, it's a deal that would make sense for Liverpool given its lack of options in the wide areas, while Barcola would fit into the age range and talent required to pique FSG's interest. That he has fallen out of Luis Enrique's first-choice XI is another factor worth considering. On the surface, it seems more practical to add a winger above a striker - although that stance could shift if Darwin Nunez leaves in the next few days. A common question over recent weeks has been how Liverpool can afford such a lavish outlay this window. Those in the know on the complex topics of PSR, SCR, and FFP have repeatedly insisted Liverpool's finances are so healthy that concluding a deal for Isak remains possible. The bigger question, perhaps, is whether Isak, Barcola, and a center-back—let's say Marc Guehi—could be acquired in the coming weeks while Liverpool remains within the financial regulations. If so, that really would be a summer for the ages! For now, it seems a bizarre verdict on a title-winning squad that has strengthened to such an extent in the market, but Slot's group does still feel a little light in certain areas. Barcola would undeniably help and provide FSG with another statement signing.

South Carolina team stuns defending champions Florida with wild walk-off to earn trip to Little League World Series
A team from South Carolina is headed to Williamsport for the first time, thanks to a wild walk-off win over the defending Little League World Series champions. A group from Irmo, South Carolina, knocked off the group from Lake Mary, Florida, on Wednesday in stunning fashion. Florida took a 4-0 lead into the final inning, but pitcher Jacob Brown opened with a pair of walks and then hit his pitch limit after securing one out. His relief pitcher gave up a single before two more walks, one of which was intentional, to bring up Brady Westbrooks. Westbrooks then hit a three-RBI double with a deep line drive to the left-field wall with two outs to steal the 5-4 win, which sparked a massive celebration on the field. Florida was a perfect 3-0 up until Wednesday in their regional site, and had outscored opponents 26-1. They rolled over South Carolina 14-0 when they played on Sunday, too. Florida beat Chinese Taipei 2-1 in extra innings to win the Little League World Series last year. The tournament hasn't seen a back-to-back champion since Tokyo pulled it off in 2012 and 2013. The Little League World Series will open on August 13. The U.S. and International Championship games are scheduled for August 23, and the World Series Championship will take place on August 24. The Seattle Mariners and New York Mets will participate in the Little League Classic at Bowman Field in Williamsport this year, too.
