Arnold's award-winning film Grief Cannot Exist Without Joy follows Tobi, a gifted musician struggling with the recent loss of his brother, Lou. His only path to healing is through music — by completing an unfinished song dedicated to his sibling, he confronts his grief and finds a way forward.
Commented Claudio de Sanctis, Head of Private Bank and member of the Management Board at Deutsche Bank, 'This year's winner of the Jury Award sensitively tells the story of brotherly love and connection, and how the one left behind overcomes the grief that's swallowing him. My sincere congratulations to Ja'Lisa Arnold for her beautiful film, 'Grief Cannot Exist Without Joy'. I am immensely proud that Deutsche Bank continues to support emerging L.A filmmakers through this programme.'
A jury of leading figures across film, art, and media selected Arnold's film. This year's included De Sanctis; Christine Messineo (Director of Americas, Frieze); Tayanna Todd (Lionsgate's Motion Picture Group); filmmaker and artist Rhys Ernst; Erin Christovale (Hammer Museum); and Oscar-nominated filmmaker RaMell Ross (Nickel Boys).
Guerrero's film Reprogrammed is set in a retro-futuristic Los Angeles, where Andrea, a lonely roboticist, has sacrificed everything to complete her masterpiece: IRIS, the 'Integrated Reactive Intelligence System.' When IRIS comes to life, Andrea must teach her creation what it means to be sentient—only to realize she must also mend her own fractured relationship with her father.
'Frieze Los Angeles, taking place in the home and heart of the film industry, is celebrating the sixth Deutsche Bank Film Award this year,' noted Frieze Director of Americas Messineo in a statement to Deadline. 'Now it is more important than ever to foster opportunities for emerging talent, and that impact can be seen in the work of this year's remarkable filmmakers.'
The sixth edition of Frieze Los Angeles is taking place through from February 23.

'Reacher' Season 4's Streaming Status is Safe. For Now
While there's not yet a release for Reacher Season 4, one of the major corporations behind the show, Paramount, has undergone a major shakeup. Following a merger between Skydance Media and Paramount, certain aspects of how shows produced by Paramount will be streamed might change. But it seems Reacher will stay the same, at least for now. Although Reacher is distributed by and co-produced on Amazon Prime Video, the show is also produced by Paramount Television Studios. And now that Paramount has merged with Skydance, some behind-the-scenes stuff will change. But, according to Deadline, that shouldn't impact the viewer experience in the short Reacher still stream on Amazon Prime Video? As of this writing, the Paramount and Skydance merger will not impact the streaming distribution of Reacher Season 4. As pointed out by Screenrant: "It seemed apparent that, given its success, the merger wouldn't negatively impact the series' fate. However, it does mean CBS Studios will no longer be in charge, the baton passing to PTVS as the franchise continues. But this doesn't negatively impact the show." In the first half of 2025, Reacher easily made it into the top 10 most-streamed shows, according to several metrics, including the Nielsen ratings. Overall, Reacher is one of the biggest hits for Prime Video, meaning a switch to another streamer, like Paramount+, seems Season 4 and Neagley release dates Reacher Season 4 began production in June 2025. Meanwhile, the Reacher spinoff show, Neagley, finished filming on June 7, 2025. Both Reacher Season 4 and Neagley Season 1 will likely be released in 2026, though it's possible Neagley could debut later this year. 'Reacher' Season 4's Streaming Status is Safe. Ryan Paevey is returning to 'General Hospital 'after 7 years
The actor explained that the idea of returning to the series was kickstarted by receiving a text from "General Hospital" executive producer Frank Valentini. More than seven years after his departure, Ryan Paevey is returning to General Hospital. The actor, who starred as Detective Nathan West from 2013 until 2018, is set to appear in new episodes of the hit ABC sudser starting this September, Entertainment Weekly has learned. Deadline was the first to report the news. EW has reached out to representatives for General Hospital and Paevey for comment. It is currently unclear what role Paevey will play in his grand return to the series, given that Nathan was killed at the end of his five-year run. (Not that death has ever stopped anyone from returning to General Hospital before.) Speaking to Deadline, Paevey explained that he began to explore the idea of potentially returning to the series after receiving an unexpected text from executive producer Frank Valentini. 'We talked a bit and he asked would I consider returning for awhile, talking story, floated different story ideas involving different time commitments of me, and I thought, 'if we're going to do this we should really do it and surprise the fans with a meaty storyline,'' Paevey told the outlet. 'I was surprised by my excitement for a homecoming and reuniting with familiar faces after seven years. I still have my last call sheet from my final taping day on January 18, 2018, tacked up in my home office.' The announcement comes just four days after Paevey teased on Instagram that he had 'some news to share' with fans after attending a fan event in Georgia. 'I've got some irons in the fire,' he said at the time. 'I've got all kinds of fun stuff coming up. So stick around and, yeah, I hope to see you guys at another. And I'll share some news with you as soon as I can.' Paevey previously announced that he would be taking a step back from acting in 2024 in order to protect his mental health and to be closer to his mother after she was diagnosed with breast cancer. 'The industry hasn't felt like the place for me in quite some time now, and my mental health has suffered from it,' he said in a statement to Heavy. 'It's taken me to a bit of a dark place, made me into a version of myself I don't like very much.' He added, 'I've had bank accounts hacked, money embezzled, investments stolen….things that, while difficult, can be recovered from. But after all that, my mother was diagnosed with lung cancer. I left Los Angeles to be closer to her, and feel the need to devote more of my time, energy, and resources closer to home.' Read the original article on Entertainment Weekly

BLACKPINK at Wembley Stadium review: The world's biggest girl group are at the top of their game
Olivia Rodrigo owning Glastonbury, Sabrina Carpenter playing two nights at Hyde Park, Charli XCX's Brat victory lap, 2025 has undoubtedly been the summer of the pop girlies. It's only right then that BLACKPINK, the biggest girl band in the world, get in on the action. The K-pop titans' Deadline world tour took over London's Wembley Stadium for the first of two shows on Friday night, following an 18-month hiatus where the four-piece worked on solo projects. Each member was given plenty of space to flex during the two-hour show. Jisoo performed her dreamy Your Love accompanied by confetti and chairography, Jennie was every bit the swaggering rockstar for her snarling viral hit Like Jennie. Lisa couldn't have been more different to her softly-spoken The White Lotus character during a trio of brilliant, high-energy tracks from debut solo album Alter Ego while Rosé went full '00s for the snotty pop-punk inspired Toxic and a surprisingly chaotic APT.. All four are clearly stars and looked very comfortable on their own in the spotlight but together, they're on a whole other level. Previous BLACKPINK tours have been incredibly choreographed events, performed with an eventual concert movie in mind. Deadline was a far more relaxed affair – well, as relaxed as a six-act stadium show with a curved runway, fireworks and an entire dance academy can really be. There was still plenty of polish and no one could accuse the group of phoning it in, but they spent as much energy interacting with the crowd and trying to make each other laugh as they did recreating their slick music videos. The whole thrilling gig was wonderfully playful. At one-point FKA Twigs joined Rosé backstage for a scone and a shot. Why? Why not. A live band gave earlier, more polite tracks WHISTLE and BOOMBAYAH an added bite while the obnoxiously OTT pop of Pink Venom and Pretty Savage were clearly written to make a stadium full of people dance. Their music has always been ambitious, taking the best bits of countless different genres to create perfectly-formed pop spectaculars, but there was a joyous, infectious energy that came with performing it in one of the biggest venues around. As the first K-pop group to headline Wembley Stadium, BLACKPINK made sure to have the most fun possible, but they also took every opportunity to soak up the 'surreal' and 'insane' achievement. 'It really is such an honour,' said Jennie, thanking the crowd for supporting the band over the past nine years. There have been rumours circulating online that BLACKPINK will go on a more permanent hiatus after this tour, but at no point during the show did it feel like things were winding down. 'I wanted to do a song that felt like a goodbye, just for the meantime,' Rosé said before the tender Dance All Night, deliberately hinting at a return, while the mini-movies that were played during the gig were a celebration of the girls coming back together. Despite their historic legacy it was the recently released Jump, an urgent mash-up of Spice Girls camaraderie and the energy of a sweaty rave, that got the biggest reaction of the night. It's such a banger, it was played twice. What more could you possibly want?
