Lawsuit accusing Jay-Z, Sean ‘Diddy' Combs of raping 13-year-old girl quietly dismissed

Yahoo15-02-2025

The lawsuit accusing Jay-Z and Sean 'Diddy' Combs of allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl was quietly dismissed by her attorney Friday.
Tony Buzbee, the lawyer for Jane Doe, filed a 'voluntary notice of dismissal' in Manhattan federal court, ending the suit over the alleged assault from over 20 years ago.
The filing doesn't indicate whether a settlement was reached in the case. But Diddy's lawyers said there is none.
'Today's complete dismissal without a settlement by the 1-800 attorney is yet another confirmation that these lawsuits are built on falsehoods, not facts,' the team said.
'For months, we have seen case after case filed by individuals hiding behind anonymity, pushed forward by an attorney more focused on media headlines than legal merit. Just like this claim, the others will fall apart because there is no truth to them.'
Still, Jay-Z and his legal team celebrated the end of the suit, filed in December, as a win — ripping Buzbee as a '1-800 lawyer.'
'Today is a victory. The frivolous, fictitious and appalling allegations have been dismissed,' Hova wrote in a statement. 'The fictional tale they created was laughable, if not for the seriousness of the claims.'
'The trauma that my wife, my children, my loved ones and I have endured can never be dismissed.'
The 'Hard Knock Life' rapper added, 'The 1-800 lawyer gets to file a suit hiding behind Jane Doe, and when they quickly realize that the money grab is going to fail, they get to walk away with no repercussions. The system has failed.'
The suit levied disturbing allegations against Jay-Z and Combs — accusing the legendary rappers of raping the teen at a drug-fueled VMAs afterparty in September 2000.
The complaint was originally filed in October against Diddy alone but was amended to include Shawn Carter, aka Jay-Z.
Carter has claimed his innocence throughout and called the suit outright 'blackmail' when he was first named last December.
Alex Spiro, Jay-Z's attorney in the case, who also represents Mayor Adams, issued a statement.
'By standing up in the face of heinous and false allegations, Jay has done what few can — he pushed back, he never settled, he never paid 1 red penny, he triumphed and cleared his name,' Spiro said.

Miley Cyrus Said She Wears 'Very Modest' Bathing Suits Because She's Still 'So Insecure' About Those Past Cruel Body-Shaming Memes

This week, Miley Cyrus made an appearance on the Reclaiming with Monica Lewinsky podcast. And during her wide-ranging conversation with Monica, Miley, 32, opened up about still being impacted by past viral memes that mocked her appearance. For context, Miley has previously opened up about how the cruel memes, which circulated after her memorable performance at the 2013 VMAs, left her feeling incredibly insecure. Back in 2020, she revealed that she was unable to wear shorts or skirts in public for years, adding, 'All this shit because after the VMAs, where I had on my cute little nude bodysuit, everyone started comparing me to a turkey and putting a turkey in my outfit.' Discussing the subject once again with Monica this week, Miley recalled, 'There were a couple [memes] about my body in 2013, people were putting my head on different, very unattractive things. And I still see that when I put on a bathing suit, to this day.' Miley went on to reveal that she wears 'very modest' swimwear in a bid to cover her body. 'I wear very — you would never think — very modest bathing suits,' she shared. 'We actually just went on a trip, it was a whole girls' trip. And everyone else had on a string bikini except me. I was in shorts,' she said. 'I don't even know if people wear tankinis anymore. I was wearing a tank top, like an old lady.' 'My sister goes, 'You know, you're you, so this is cool. I guess this is in now, you're making this cool. But, you know, this is what a grandma wears to the beach?'' She said, seemingly referring to her younger sister Noah, who is 25. 'And it just hit me, like, I'm still so insecure about those memes about my body,' Miley added.

Miley Cyrus Younger Siblings Humiliated During Bangerz

Miley Cyrus was just 13 years old when she first found fame as a squeaky clean Disney Channel star in the hit series Hannah Montana, which aired until 2009. But by the time she turned 20, Miley was seemingly keen to rebrand herself by establishing a very different kind of public persona through her now-infamous Bangerz era. If you need reminding, she released her self-described 'dirty south hip-hop' album Bangerz in 2013, and with it came a brand new Miley. The star boldly cut off all her hair, sang about recreational drug use, and became especially renowned for how provocative she was — which included twerking on Robin Thicke at the VMAs, and appearing nude in her 'Wrecking Ball' music video. As a result, for better or for worse, Miley became a bit of a pop culture icon during this era, and was regularly in the news cycle for her outlandish antics. Now 32, Miley has admitted that her family struggled with her raunchy rebrand at the time, and even revealed that her younger siblings didn't want to go to school because of how humiliating it was to be related to her. For reference, Miley has three older half-siblings, Brandi, Trace, and Christopher, and two younger siblings, 31-year-old Braison, and 25-year-old Noah. During her recent appearance on the Reclaiming with Monica Lewinsky podcast, Miley referenced Monica and then-president Bill Clinton's 1998 sex scandal as she said: 'My 2013 is your 1998, because that was the time where I just got hit so hard and I was so embarrassed.' 'There was even a time where my brother and sister didn't want to go to school because of how humiliated they were to be related to me,' she recalled. 'My brother, at one point, he was saying: 'I don't judge you, but you could understand how hard it is for me to go to school and you be my sister?'' 'It was really hard for me in 2013, and I Iost everything during that time in my personal life because of the choices I was making professionally,' Miley went on. 'If I kept dressing or acting a certain way, my relationships fell apart. No one wanted to date me because they didn't want to be with a woman [whose] sexual expression was not for them, it was shared with the world.' 'Guys, when I would try to date, when I was dating, or I was engaged at the time, that didn't work out because I was sharing a part of myself that men wanted to be saved for them only,' she continued. 'And the fact that I would pose nude or dance in very little clothes or show my body was making them feel like I was taking something away that was meant to be for them, so I would have a really hard time dating.' 'It was really hard for me to go home and see my dad and, like, look him in the eyes and not feel super embarrassed,' Miley then confessed. 'Same thing, my grandmother is my best friend, she's dead, but she's still my best friend, and I was like: 'This is gonna kill her.'' 'Going home and seeing my grandparents was just mortifying,' she reiterated, adding that until she had therapy, she 'had a lot of guilt about how hard it would have been to be my sibling or my parents, and how embarrassing.'
