By: Oswald Supi Text Size: An extract from the Notice of Demand. PENAMPANG: A former stall trader at Donggongon vegetable and fruit market was speechless when a Penampang Municipal Council worker was able to locate her at a coffee shop on Sunday to serve a final Notice of Demand for licence fees and rental amounting to RM3,864, purportedly in arrears since March 2018. Helen, 72, from Penampang said she paid her last rental and surrendered stall number 34 in February 2018, and found it outrageous of the Council to claim seven years of unpaid bills.
Advertisement She said no notices or claims of any kind were received all those years despite the letter claiming the last notice was served on Jan 10 this year. A former District Officer (DO), when asked, said after three months of unpaid rentals, the stall would be forfeited and given to others. Sub-letting is also not allowed. The ex-DO opined that there are old Council records that were not properly maintained or updated. Subscribe or LOG IN to access this article.

FCPO Stalls Below RM4,000
FCPO edged up just RM8 to close Monday at RM3,925, after trading in a narrow range between RM3,913 and RM3,954. The session ended with a mildly bearish candle pattern, suggesting persistent uncertainty amid weak market sentiment. RHB Investment Bank Bhd has reiterated a negative trading bias on crude palm oil futures (FCPO), advising traders to maintain short positions as prices continue to hover below key resistance levels. The house noted that the broader trend remains downbeat, with prices still below both the 50-day and 200-day simple moving averages. Momentum indicators remain soft, as the Relative Strength Index (RSI) continues to trend below the 50% mark, reflecting weak upward strength. Unless FCPO decisively breaks above RM4,000, the bearish outlook is expected to hold. The investment bank recommended that traders who initiated short positions at RM4,328 on April 4 should continue holding, while setting a stop-loss threshold at RM4,000 to manage risks. Support is pegged at RM3,700 and RM3,500, with resistance levels seen at RM4,000 and RM4,100 if prices rebound. Related

Reform GLCs for Sabah's future, says UPKO's treasurer
Published on: Tuesday, June 10, 2025 Published on: Tue, Jun 10, 2025 Text Size: KOTA KINABALU: Sabah's government-linked companies (GLCs) must undergo bold and comprehensive reforms to serve the people and the state's long-term interests, says UPKO Treasurer-General Dennison R. Indang. He stressed that GLCs should drive economic growth, create jobs, empower local entrepreneurs, and contribute to state revenue. Advertisement However, he said, many GLCs have failed in their purpose due to political interference and poor governance, becoming financial burdens instead. Dennison called for a merit-based, professional approach in board appointments and transparent investment evaluations. Underperforming GLCs, he said, should be restructured or dissolved. He welcomed the formation of the Sabah GLC Monitoring Committee, viewing it as a vital step toward improving integrity, transparency, and accountability. Reform, he added, is not optional but essential for Sabah's economic strength and public trust. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news?
