Maryland teens arrested after Northwest DC armed robbery, police say
Police say officers responded to reports of a shooting shortly after 4 p.m. in the 4100 block of Minnesota Avenue, NE, where officers found a Metrobus damaged from gunfire.
According to police, no one was hurt in the shooting, and the suspect fled the scene.
Officers later identified a 14-year-old boy as the suspect and charged him with assault with a dangerous weapon.

'This is his first criminal case. Throughout the investigation and proceedings he has been cooperative, respectful and compliant. He has substantial ties to his family and community, including children who depend on him for emotional and financial support. Granting him bond would allow him to continue caring for his family and fulfilling his responsibilities while still subject to the Court's supervision.' She supported Combs' pre-sentencing release by assuring the court that he would adhere to 'all conditions imposed' and 'will not jeopardize his freedom or the well-being of his family.' 'Our relationship, like many, was not always perfect, we experienced ups and downs, and mistakes were made but he was willing to acknowledge his mistakes and make better decisions in the future,' she wrote. 'Over the years that followed he made visible efforts to become a better person and to address the harm he had caused. By the time our relationship ended, he embodied an energy of love, patience and gentleness that was markedly different from his past behavior. To my knowledge, he has not been violent for many years, and he has been committed to being a father first.' In its indictment, the government accused Combs of using 'force, threats of force, and coercion, to cause victims, including but not limited to three female victims' — referred to as Victim-1, Victim-2 and Victim-3 — 'to engage in commercial sex acts. In connection with the commercial sex acts, Combs provided the victims with, among other things, monetary payments, career opportunities, and payments of rent and housing expenses.' During Combs' trial, according to CNN, his former assistant George Kaplan testified that he once saw Combs throwing apples at Huynh in his Miami home. Casandra 'Cassie' Ventura, a key witness in the case, also testified that Combs was unfaithful to her by dating Gina while they were together. Combs is currently incarcerated while awaiting his sentencing, set for October 3, on two counts of transportation for prostitution. His legal team has revived its attempts to get Combs out of prison before sentencing and has been engaged in a back-and-forth with the government, arguing over his eligibility for bail. Western Michigan man, 43, sentenced for sexually exploiting girls
A 43-year-old Caledonia, Michigan, man has been sentenced for sexually exploiting high school girls, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Michigan said Friday. Scott Michael Elam was sentenced by a federal judge to 30 years in prison. The attorney's office said he previously pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. Elam allegedly admitted to selling alcohol, marijuana and vapes to "numerous minors" throughout Western Michigan. According to the attorney's office, he offered discounts to girls who made sexually explicit pictures and videos of themselves and sent them to him, or had sex with him. Federal officials said Elam admitted to exploiting 11 girls. Elam was ordered at the sentencing hearing to give up his Caledonia home, where he had sex with one of the minors and provided contraband to others. "Mr. Elam's predatory actions are reprehensible and should never be tolerated," Cheyvoryea Gibson, special agent in charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Detroit office, said. "The FBI in Michigan will remain relentless in pursuing bad actors who exploit the most vulnerable among us." The attorney's office said the case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative aimed at protecting children from online exploitation and abuse. Philadelphia man arrested near Golden Gate Park suspected of having nitrous oxide tanks
San Francisco Police said they arrested a man from Philadelphia near Golden Gate Park after finding tanks filled with nitrous oxide in a van Saturday night. Officers were near Fulton Street and 35th Avenue around 11 p.m. to patrol the area during the ongoing concert series. During their patrol, they saw an open trailer with a man inside, and as they got closer, they saw numerous tanks in the vehicle and suspected they were filled with nitrous oxide, police said. The officers arrested the man after an investigation gave them probable cause, according to police. He was identified by police as 32-year-old Thomas Siderio of Philadelphia. Police said they seized about 100 metal tanks and found balloons at the scene. They towed the trailer as evidence, police said. Siderio was taken to the San Francisco County Jail on suspicion of distribution or dispense of nitrous oxide and possession of nitrous oxide with intent to ingest for intoxication.
