British 18-year-old tourist is 'raped in Corfu party spot' as Italian man is arrested
The unnamed woman, who is said to have been vacationing at the popular tourist hotspot, filed the complaint in the early hours of Sunday.
After an investigation was launched, police arrested a man, who is claimed to have been with the alleged victim.
The 19-year-old Italian man was taken to the prosecutor's office and is set to face a judge on Thursday.
The woman was reportedly partying at a shopping mall before the alleged incident took place.
According to local media, the alleged perpetrator was not remanded in police custody.
Cops are now calling on anyone with more information to come forward.
Corfu is one of Greece's most sought-after holiday destinations and attracts around 500,000 Brits each year.

‘A shark ate my arm and leg - I wouldn't change a thing'
February 11, 2009, began as an average day for Paul de Gelder. He was conducting a military operation in Sydney Harbour as part of the navy, but while in the water he felt a whack on the back of his leg – it was the jaws of a bull shark. 'I thought the guys on the boat got too close to me but I looked down and there's a massive shark's head attached to my leg.' Paul tells Metro. 'I'm thinking, 'I've seen Shark Week, I'll jab it in the eye but I can't move my arm. I look down and my hand is trapped in the shark's mouth as well as my leg. I grab it by the nose, try to push it off me but it decides that I'm breakfast, thrashes me around, takes me underwater and the pain is so all encompassing it takes the fight out of me. I was drowning in agony, being eaten alive and I realised there was nothing I could do, so I gave up.' As Paul conceded defeat, the shark's teeth ripped off his hamstring and hand. His wetsuit made him buoyant and to his shock, he floated back to the surface and realised, by some miracle, he was still alive. 'My medical training kicked in. I kept the wound above my head and swam back with one hand and one functioning leg through a massive pool of my own blood.' Hours later Paul woke up in hospital, relieved to see his leg was still attached. 'But I only had the leg for a week. I had my leg removed and the medication couldn't manage my pain so I went through 20 hours of agonising torture, wishing I would die.' The entire attack lasts for eight seconds – eight seconds that would completely change the course of Paul's life. It's a living nightmare few of us could ever imagine, but 16 years later, Paul's life is quite astonishing. Unbelievably, he's now one of the world's leading shark conservationists, devoting his whole life to protecting the animal that almost killed him. Paul's determination to give sharks a rebrand combined with his personal relationship with the apex predator has taken him all over the world. But the turning point came when Australia's 60 Seconds, the biggest televised interview Down Under, called with a question: 'Would you be willing to face bull sharks again?' Paul agreed to confront his fears, flying to Fiji to swim with bull sharks. 'They wanted tears but I gave them excitement and ended up feeding the bulls.' Now, he's just finished filming a new show for Shark Week, How To Survive A Shark Attack, where he flippantly tells me: 'I had to be attacked by sharks several times' and he's worked with A-list stars like Will Smith and Mike Tyson. He also helped British celebrities including Sir Lenny Henry and Countdown's Rachel Riley build up the courage to swim with one of the world's largest and deadliest species of sharks, the Tiger shark as part of ITV's Sharks! Celebrity Infested Waters, an alarming new reality TV series marking the 50th anniversary of Jaws. Stephen Spielberg's 1975 horror is without a doubt the reason I'll suddenly panic swimming lengths in a swimming pool – the sea is completely out of bounds. My irrational fear of being eaten alive by a shark in the sea, a lake or even the bath is shared by millions, even if there are rarely more than 10 fatal shark attacks around the world every year. Call The Midwife's Helen George is in the same boat as me, and until filming the series had been too afraid to even put her head under water for 20 years, let alone free dive with one of the ocean's largest man-eating predators. On paper, it sounds like I'm A Celebrity on steroids, but it's a surprisingly moving watch. Columnist Adam Miller shares his thoughts on the fascinating new series: On paper, Shark! Celebrity Infested Waters sounds like a Bushtucker trial ramped up to 100. An impressive cast, boasting Sir Lenny Henry, Countdown's Rachel Riley and McFly's Dougie Poynter, is helped by leading shark experts to come face to face with some of the most feared predators in the world in their natural environment. Even as somewhat of a shark obsessive (rarely a day goes by when I don't lose myself down a rabbit hole of shark videos on Instagram) I wasn't sure how or if Shark! Celebrity Infested Waters would work. Obviously, there's no real jeopardy – not that I'd want that – but without it what is the pull? Reality television is at its best with camaraderie at its core, and I can't recall another show that shows teamwork quite like this. It's refreshing and actually quite a bold move not to have any contest running through Shark! Celebrity Infested Waters but it's a gamble that pays off. 'It has all the emotions – fear, anxiety, happiness. Every spectrum of human emotion is there but it has an underlying message too. It's about the plight of sharks. 'People are out there killing sharks for fun every day and by doing so it's bringing us closer to extinction. If the sharks die, the ocean dies and we die. We're trying to get celebrities and the viewers to fall in love with sharks – which, granted, is hard because they keep biting people.' Chucking British national treasures into shark infested waters is another unexpected adventure for Paul, one more turn he didn't expect his life to take when his limbs were torn from his body. Few will ever know how they'd respond to the trauma of a shark attack, particularly one quite so cataclysmic. More Trending I've rarely met someone with so much self-assurance, so much peace. Paul says coming close to death gave him freedom in life. 'It really just opened my mindset to becoming even more unlimited in what I want to in this world and with my life,' he says. I wonder if he imagines what his life would look like without the attack? 'I do to a very small degree. I wouldn't change it – there's no reason for me to change it. I don't know who that guy is because my life went this way and I love my life. I live in America. Arnold Schwarzenegger says hello to me at the gym in the morning. Prince Andrew was asked to honour Jeffrey Epstein in special 50th birthday album
The Duke of York's close pal, Ghislaine Maxwell, contacted Jeffrey Epstein's rich and powerful friends, asking them for handwritten notes wishing the billionaire a happy 50th birthday Prince Andrew was asked to contribute to Jeffrey Epstein's 50th birthday album in which Donald Trump told the paedophile, 'May every day be another wonderful secret', it is claimed. The Duke of York's close pal Ghislaine Maxwell asked the sex offender's rich and powerful friends to write messages for the billionaire's 50th in 2003. The British socialite, 63, who is serving 20 years in a US jail for trafficking girls for Epstein, bound the tributes in a leather album. The gift was discovered by US Justice Department investigators probing the financier's inner circle. A US source told this newspaper: 'Ghislaine was the driving force behind the birthday tributes. She wanted it to be a who's who of Epstein's inner circle, and she leaned on a lot of people to write something. It wasn't just casual greetings. Ghislaine wanted messages that were personal, meaningful. 'Jeffrey... always saw Andrew as the pinnacle of his pals, and Ghislaine made sure he was asked to contribute. 'She framed it as a celebration of Jeffrey's brilliance, his generosity, his supposed unique mind. She made it sound like an honour to be included.' It is not clear if the prince did send a message. At the time, Prince Andrew was a regular fixture at social gatherings with his pal, who was convicted of a sex offence with a minor in 2008. The Duke has said he was not aware of Epstein's crime. Andrew, 65, was introduced to Epstein in 1999 by Maxwell. He visited the financier in New York, Florida and the US Virgin Islands, and hosted Epstein at Balmoral, Windsor Castle, Sandringham and Royal Ascot. Each time Maxwell was also present. In a 2014 court filing, Virginia Giuffre claimed she was loaned by Epstein to Andrew for sex three times as a teenager. Andrew repeatedly and vehemently denied her claims. She later sued him in New York for sexual abuse, which he settled out of court for a reported £12million. He continued to deny any wrongdoing, telling BBC Newsnight he had no recollection of meeting her. In April, Giuffre, 41, took her own life in Australia. Epstein, 66, died by suicide in a New York jail in 2019. The birthday album came to light after it was reported that Donald Trump had contributed a signed note. The Wall Street Journal claimed to have seen a 2003 typed letter featuring a permanent marker sketch of a naked woman. Trump allegedly wrote: 'A pal is a wonderful thing. Happy Birthday – and may every day be another wonderful secret,' and also: 'We have certain things in common, Jeffrey.' Trump's links to Epstein stretch back to the 1990s. In a 2002 interview, Trump said: 'He's a lot of fun to be with… he liked beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.' The US President said the Journal story was faked, adding that he never drew pictures of women. However, some of his city skyline sketches have been sold at auction. Last month Elon Musk claimed the President was named in Epstein-related material. Trump called the claims a Democrat'scam' but he and key Republicans have since demanded the Epstein files be unsealed.

Worried about her every day, he told the Daily Mail: 'There's such overcrowding in Tallahassee that higher-category prisoners are being placed there and it's becoming a facility that is more dangerous – we've got to get her out of there. 'Normally she spends a lot of time in the prison library helping other prisoners with things like form filling, but she has to go from A to B and isn't always surrounded by guards. 'It's a possibility someone might get to her. I don't want to be dramatic but you can't discount it. Look what happened to Epstein.' Maxwell, 63, is currently serving a 20-year sentence after being convicted in 2021 of helping Epstein lure underage girls into a web of abuse stretching back to the 1990s. During her three-week trial in 2021, jurors heard prosecutors describe Maxwell as "dangerous". While her legal appeals have been thrown out by multiple courts, Ian insists the fight is far from over to get the disgraced British socialite out. The brother revealed her legal team is plotting a last-ditch effort involving new evidence and an explosive habeas corpus filing. He admitted hopes that the US Supreme Court will hear her case are slim. Trump blasts 'are we still talking about this creep-' over Epstein as mystery swirls around 'missing CCTV & client list' 'It's not a done deal,' he said. 'About 10,000 petitions are lodged each year and they only hear 200 to 250 cases.' But if that fails, the family says they'll take another legal route. 'If they don't hear Ghislaine's case… we will go another route and file a writ of habeas corpus which allows a prisoner to challenge their imprisonment on the basis of new evidence, such as government misconduct.' The family have long argued Maxwell was made a scapegoat for Epstein's crimes and treated harshly to satisfy public outrage after the convicted paedophile died in his cell in 2019. 'I fully believe my sister is innocent and that she will be released some day in the future,' Ian said. The Maxwell family has consistently claimed she was denied a fair trial. And now they're reportedly banking on a controversial 2007 agreement Epstein struck with the Department of Justice to shield his co-conspirators from prosecution. In a recent statement, the family said: 'Our sister Ghislaine did not receive a fair trial. 'Her legal team continues to fight her case in the courts and will file its reply in short order to the government's opposition in the US Supreme Court. 'If necessary, in due course they will also file a writ of habeas corpus in the U.S. District Court, SDNY. It also comes amid reports that Maxwell is pursuing a pardon from Donald Trump, following the closure of the US probe into Epstein's death and financial dealings. A source close to Maxwell exclusively told The Sun on Sunday there's a 'window of momentum' in her favor. The insider said: 'Those close to her believe it's unfair that she alone is paying for Epstein's crimes and call into question much of the evidence against her. 'Now her legal team feel as if they have a rare window of momentum so they are set to take up her case with the President.' Meanwhile, renewed political pressure is mounting over the unresolved mysteries surrounding Epstein's sick empire. Democratic Senator Ron Wyden has claimed a 'big' Epstein file 'full of actionable information' is gathering dust in the Treasury Department — information that could shine more light on the financier's global sex trafficking network. 'Somewhere in the Treasury Department… locked away in a cabinet drawer, is a big Epstein file that's full of actionable information,' Wyden said on the Senate floor. He has urged federal authorities to investigate nearly $1.1 billion in suspicious wire transfers linked to Epstein, as well as his connections to Russian banks and the trafficking of women from Eastern Europe. Although the Biden administration has dismissed claims of hidden records as 'fantasies' and 'political theatre,' calls for transparency around Epstein's finances and ties to powerful individuals continue to grow.
