Demi Moore Picks Pinstripes in Sheer Thom Browne Corset for 2025 Independent Spirit Awards
Moore wore a sheer corset and skirt to the event. It features a back panel with two vents. In addition, to give the look a pinstripe effect, it was lined in fabric featuring the red, white and blue stripes that are a Thom Browne signature. She also wore a simple three-button blazer of the same construction.

She accessorized with small black leather Thom Browne bag and patent leather slingback shoes featuring a gilded gold heel. For jewelry, she wore a pair of platinum and diamond earrings with a Jean Schlumberger by Tiffany Bird on a Rock Ring.
Moore and Goreski have been going full-fashion on red carpets this season promoting 'The Substance.' At times, the pair give their own iteration of the popular 'method dressing' trend: for the Critics Choice Awards, Moore wore a Schiaparelli couture dress featuring a lace-up back that was a wink to the back stitches of her character in the film. Days later, she was in a sheer Christian Dior dress covered in eyes to the Directors Guild Awards, which is another reference to the film.
This, of course, hasn't precluded the team from choosing glamour for glamour's sake. Case in point, they kicked off the circuit at the Golden Globes with Moore in a strapless Armani Prive gown that was studded with Swarovski crystals.
The 2025 Film Independent Spirit Awards, held on Feb. 22 in Santa Monica, Calif., and hosted by Aidy Bryant, honor the best performances, writing and direction in independent film in 2024. 'Anora' and 'I Saw the TV Glow' lead the field with six nominations each.

Whitney Houston Foundation Auctions 24-plus Items
Fashion was a priority for some of the Whitney Houston fans who bid Monday in a sale of the late six-time Grammy winner's memorabilia that was organized by Julien's Auctions. Held live at The Peninsula Beverly Hills and online, the 'Whitney E. Houston Legacy Foundation Auction' featured more than 24 apparel pieces and memorabilia. It benefited the musician's namesake foundation that helps provide college scholarships and services to young people who are interested in the arts. More from WWD Doechii Leans Into Preppy Edge With Miu Miu Penny Loafers at Outside Lands Charli XCX Doubles Down on Her Fetish Boot Era With Fidan Novruzova Knee-highs at Sziget Festival Beyoncé vs. Sydney Sweeney: Are Jeans Getting Political? Forty years after Houston first ventured into the music industry, a few devotees picked up items that Houston wore on stage to perform including ensembles by Marc Bouwer and stilettos from Dolce & Gabbana among other keepsakes. Saturday would have been the late Grammy Hall of Fame inductee's 65th birthday. She died in 2012 in Los Angeles. Interestingly, the top-selling item was a 1994 personalized FIFA World Cup Event worn jersey with a photo that sold for $22,400 — well above the pre-auction estimate of $1,000 to $2,000. An embellished catsuit designed by Bouwer that Houston wore for a Madison Square Garden performance during her 1991 'I'm Your Baby Tonight' tour fetched $22,400, outperforming the pre-sale estimate of $4,000 to $6,000. Another one of his designs, a velour suit that the musician performed at a 'Welcome Home Heroes' concert that same year sold for $16,000 — more than five times the pre-sale opening estimate. An embellished ensemble that Bouwer created for 'The Bodyguard' world tour went for $10,240, up from its opening estimate of $3,000 to $5,000. A replica gown of the one that Bouwer designed for Houston to wear for a South Africa concert in 1994 sold for $6,400. Bouwer told WWD Monday, 'In a time when stylists, collectors, investors and museum historians are universally looking for archival fashion, it's flattering to see these pieces do so well. It proves the impact and worth of designer and celebrity relationships. I think Whitney would be delighted that the high returns are going to her foundation for the benefit of youth and music in education.' A pair of pale yellow pumps with floral embellishment from Dolce & Gabbana had a final bid of $3,200. A belted yellow dress that Houston sported to wear on 'Dancing With the Stars' in 2009 raked in $12,800 compared to the opening estimate of $800 to $1,200. A Dolce & Gabbana ensemble that Houston donned for the Clive Davis' Grammy party in 2009 had a final offer of $11,520. Another high-ticket item was a Helen Yarmark fur coat at $12,800 that Houston chose for a 2010 outing. The sale was 'a powerful reminder that the spirit of Whitney continues to move music, inspire generations, and define celebrity,' according to Julien's executive director and cofounder Martin J. Nolan Having released seven career albums and sold more than 220 million music recordings, Houston also appeared in 'The Bodyguard' in 1992, 'Waiting to Exhale' in 1995, 'The Preacher's Wife' in 1996, 'Cinderella' in 1997 and 'Sparkle.' 'The Bodyguard: Original Soundtrack Album' from 1992 remains the bestselling soundtrack album of all time, the bestselling album by a woman in music history, and the bestselling album of the 1990s. Houston received more than 400 awards and she was the executive producer of 'Cinderella' and 'Sparkle,' and produced 'The Princess Diaries,' 'The Princess Diaries 2,' 'The Cheetah Girls' and 'The Cheetah Girls 2.' In June, Houston's estate received 11 new certifications by the Recording Industry Association of America that were posthumously presented in her honor. Houston is the first African American artist to have three RIAA Diamond-certified albums — 10x Platinum — including her self-titled debut album, her second studio album, 'Whitney,' and 'The Bodyguard: Original Soundtrack Album.' Concert goers took note — Houston's RIAA 'Multi-Platinum' sales award for 'The Bodyguard' was auctioned for $16,000 — eight times its pre-sale opening estimate. The Costumes of ‘The Gilded Age' Are a Part of Real Life History
LONDON — Costume designer Kasia Walicka Maimone grew up with Leo Tolstoy's 'Anna Karenina' in her native Poland. The Russian classic is part of her 'cellular structure' and she recently reread the novel set in the late 19th century. The period has had a lasting impact on her and it's also the time frame of the HBO series 'The Gilded Age,' about New York City's elite as they shuffle from opera houses to fancy luncheons and beyond. More from WWD From Runway to Silver Screen: Sara Sampaio on Embracing Chaos, Comedy and Her 'Superman' Debut Dominique Thorne: Bringing Ironheart to Life and Inspiring a New Generation of Heroes Anne Hathaway Revives Andy Sachs in Jean Paul Gaultier Look on 'The Devil Wears Prada 2' Set Maimone has been working on the historical drama for over five years and nothing is short of grandeur as she costumes characters based on New York's famous families: the Astors, the Goelets, the Livingstons, the Van Rensselaers and the Vanderbilts. 'I live in New York and it's such a celebration of the city and getting to know the history of New York intimately,' she said in an interview, detailing that she works on 5,000 to 7,000 costumes a season with her team, which on a regular day is made up of 65 people and can go up to 200 on a big shoot day. Now for the third season, Maimone has had to look beyond the fashions and parameters of the city, as Gladys Russell, played by Taissa Farmiga, marries into British aristocracy and becomes a duchess. Her character takes inspiration from Consuelo Vanderbilt's marriage to Charles Richard John Spencer-Churchill, 9th Duke of Marlborough. Gladys clashes with the duke's sister, Lady Sarah, played by Hattie Morahan, as she teaches her a new way of life in England and living in a country house. 'My obligation is to make sure that each character is different and that they are defined by what they are wearing. It was very obvious what to do with Lady Sarah, she needs to be zipped up and conservative. She continuously [wears] a riding outfit with classic lines, which clashes with Gladys' newest fashions,' Maimone said. Lady Sarah is costumed up to the neck in dull tones and sharp collars, while Gladys arrives at Sidmouth Castle wearing dresses made from red and turquoise lace, yellow jacquard and baby blue tartan. Gladys is a mirror of her mother, Bertha Russell, a fictionalized version of Alva Vanderbilt, a newcomer in New York City society who is clawing her way to the top with extravagance and somewhat bad taste to the old guards of the city. The Russell family's costumes are daring and years ahead of their time. 'The old guard famously bought the same dresses from the House of Worth and then kept them in the closets for two years until the seasonalism quietened, but Bertha has no problem with that kind of bad taste as she's happy to manifest it,' Maimone said. It's what Gladys does when she arrives in England — in one scene, she wears diamond stars in her hair — that Lady Sarah frowns upon. Maimone also understands that not everything is historically accurate — there's always going to be an element of entertainment. 'We crank it up a bit more than what it would have been in real life and that's my job. There's a playfulness with the material,' she explained. Her research into 19th-century New York fashion is as detailed as any history degree and spans across texts, books, magazines and art. Many of Gladys' costumes take their cues from the paintings of the American artist John Singer Sargent, who painted Consuelo Vanderbilt a few times during his lifetime. Maimone's attention to detail is precise — even to the secondary or one-off characters, such as Madame Dashkova, a spiritual medium, or Monica O'Brien, Bertha's sister. 'She communicates with animals and she's wearing a fox paw on her chest that she talks to. It was just a really fabulous exploration of what to do with a fortune teller,' she said, adding that in the case of O'Brien's arrival in her old rags, it was about instantly letting viewers know that there was a history and disconnect between the sisters before they even came into contact with each other. Nothing is put to waste on the expansive set of 'The Gilded Age,' not even the costumes. Maimone reuses all the pieces for the house staff and with the menswear she makes additional tweaks every season to move the costumes forward with the time period. This season, Agnes van Rhijn, played by Christine Baranski, rewears many of her old dresses since losing her fortune and being dependent on her sister, Ada Forte, played by Cynthia Nixon, who has come into wealth but doesn't change her costumes that much as she's still in mourning. The costumes of the show are a reflection of the storyline — many of the pieces are made in New York, but some are specially designed in Europe for the main characters. But New York seems to hold a special place in Maimone's résumé. She costumed the 2005 film 'Capote,' based on Truman Capote, and the crime drama 'A Most Violent Year,' depicting '80s New York. 'I studied English in Warsaw and when I graduated, I was quite lost and ended up living in New York City surrounded by this community of artists, who were extremely passionate about what they were doing. It was an awakening moment and I had been making clothes since I was a kid, so I ended up going to FIT, where I realized that [fashion] was the most natural language that I had and it was the first time that school ever made sense in my life,' she said. Maimone had a hand working in theater and with dance companies and operas at that time and found her calling. 'I quickly noticed that I belong so much more in storytelling than in fashion because I'm very passionate about stories and discovering new worlds,' she said, remembering 'Life Situations: Daydreams on 'Giselle,'' a production she worked on with the modern dance choreographer Donald Byrd in 1995. All roads lead back to the opera or stage for Maimone, who is costuming the upcoming biopic 'Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere,' starring Jeremy Allen White as Bruce Springsteen. Andie MacDowell's daughter, Margaret Qualley, used 'Southern girl etiquette' to win over famous husband
Andie MacDowell's daughter locked down her love using "Southern girl etiquette." Margaret Qualley married Jack Antonoff, known for producing some of Taylor Swift's biggest hits, in August 2023. "The Substance" star opened up about the beginning of the couple's romance and the "old-school" traditions she found herself following. Qualley revealed Antonoff said "I love you" first, "obviously." "I'm very old-school about stuff like this," she told Cosmopolitan. "I would never put myself out there first. I never text twice. I mean, now we're married, and I can text him anything at any time. We're always having a conversation; he's like my human diary. But, before we were together, at the beginning, I would always follow Southern girl etiquette." Qualley and Antonoff first met in 2021 as the COVID-19 pandemic was ending. The 30-year-old said "falling in love with Jack was the biggest feeling [she'd] ever felt." "We saw each other on a roof, and we just started talking and never stopped," Qualley recalled. "We went on a series of walks throughout the city that summer." And, according to Qualley, "Washington Square Park is the best place to fall in love." The two married Aug. 19, 2023, in New Jersey. The guest list consisted of numerous A-list celebrities, including Swift, Zoë Kravitz and Lana Del Rey. In her relationship with Jack, Qualley felt "safe and comfortable." "In every other relationship I've ever been in, I still felt really lonely because I wasn't with my person, and it's like I was seeking something," she said. "I don't feel like that anymore. Jack makes me feel safe and comfortable. "I spent so many years trying to be someone's perfect girl, and that girl changed over and over again," Qualley admitted. "But I can't lie to Jack. I can't be that for him. He'd see through it. So, I just have to be myself. He's been the person I've pictured my whole life. And I'm not even saying that metaphorically. My first crush was Adam Sandler in 'Happy Gilmore' and 'Big Daddy,' and I've been looking for that essence my whole life. I'm like, 'That's Jack.'" Qualley was "head-over-heels in love right away" with Antonoff, she told Elle UK in February 2024. "I had a sure, knowing feeling that he was my husband," the actress added. Qualley was raised by her famous parents, actress Andie MacDowell and former model Paul Qualley. The couple divorced in 1999 after 13 years of marriage and five years after welcoming Qualley into the world. The actress was raised by MacDowell in North Carolina. Qualley recalled her experience of being raised by "probably the only Hollywood actress in Asheville." "I grew up always being like, 'Well, it's just normal to me. She's my mom. So, it's my normal life.' But also I knew it was weird," Margaret told The Evening Standard in 2023. "It's weird. I'm really lucky. It was a strange thing, but then I did go to a normal school, [had] normal friends and have a somewhat normal life. Then my mom would go off and do movies, and sometimes I'd go with her. And sometimes I'd meet, like, Gérard Depardieu." Qualley's found fame after her breakout role in HBO's "The Leftovers" in 2014. She has since earned recognition for roles in "Fosse/Verdon," "Poor Things" and, more recently, "The Substance" and "Happy Gilmore 2." She's been nominated for Golden Globes, SAG Awards, Critics' Choice Awards and Emmy Awards for her work. The "Maid" star also adheres to other old-school traditions in life, not just dating. "Cellphones are like cigarettes. I'm a big fan of airplane mode," she told Cosmopolitan. "Because opening your phone is also like going to work, you know? I don't have any apps on my phone except Uber, texting and Maps. And that's nice, because then it's like, if I'm at the grocery store, I don't just pull out my phone. I'm just there, listening to people's conversations. "And I feel more immersed in my life," Qualley added. "I have another phone at home that doesn't have cellphone service. It just has Wi-Fi, and I can look at Instagram. We are all definitely too plugged in."
