Brookville native to perform at NBA Finals
Brookville's own, Brooklyn Skinner, has been cheerleading her whole life and that journey continues now as she does so for the Indiana Pacers.
The 24-year-old's always dreamed of being an NBA cheerleader.
Her path to the Indiana Pacemates began at the age of two at the Miss Margaret Leiber School of Dance and continued through her time at Brookville High School and Wright State University.
After graduating with a degree in dance, Skinner didn't have a particular NBA team in mind, but she knew she wanted to continue on that stage.
Her mom suggested that she try out for the Pacers dance team. She went for the opportunity simply for the experience, the rest was history, as she's now nearly wrapped up her second season as a Pacemate.
Nearly wrapped up, as the Pacers continue to compete in the NBA Finals, a series currently tied 1-1 as of this writing.
The heightened stage of the Finals has ramped up the usual routine for the dance squad.
'It's been insane. Like coming off of regular season games and then going into playoffs is a completely different atmosphere. And it's so cool to experience that with like a group of women that you love to be around,' Skinner says. 'And just experiencing new things is awesome with them.'
Skinner will perform with her teammates tonight as the Pacers host their first game of the series.

Caitlin Clark can dunk on LeBron James in NBA 2K26
NBA 2K has Caitlin Clark DUNKING on LeBron James 🤣 Some sports moments can only happen in video games, like Indiana Fever superstar guard Caitlin Clark dunking on superstar Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James. While that's an improbable scenario in real life despite how amazing Clark is at basketball, NBA 2K26 allows for gamers to pit the two hoops legends against each other to the point where Clark can actually dunk on James. A viral clip from the upcoming NBA/WNBA video game shows Clark dunking on James and even taunting him after the fact. Again, this can only happen in a video game, but what a glorious example of why video games are so fun. Watch this as many times as you'd like! Whenever you play with the Fever against the Lakers, make sure to recreate this hysterical clip. When does NBA 2K26 come out? The game will be released on Friday, Sept. 5.

Betting odds for Sixers' VJ Edgecombe to win 2026 Rookie of the Year
The 2025-26 NBA season continues to inch closer as the schedule has been released and everybody's attention turns to opening night in October. With that being said, now is the time to look at some odds for certain awards concerning the Philadelphia 76ers. While MVP is normally the one to watch for the Sixers due to the presence of Joel Embiid, there is some injury concern there, so this one is focused on Rookie of the Year due to the presence of VJ Edgecombe. FanDuel released their Rookie of the Year odds with Edgecombe ranking fourth in those odds with +1300. He is behind only San Antonio Spurs guard Dylan Harper, Washington Wizards guard Tre Johnson, and Dallas Mavericks forward Cooper Flagg. Edgecombe's chances to win Rookie of the Year will depend on how much the ball will be in his hands. The Sixers have a lot of guards they will rely on more than him--notably Tyrese Maxey and Jared McCain--and numbers are a big part of the ROY voting. Edgecombe might not have the best chance to take home the award, but that will depend on what role he will have in the 2025-26 season.

Blockbuster trade idea sends LeBron James to Mavericks, Giannis Antetokounmpo to Lakers
Blockbuster trade idea sends LeBron James to Mavericks, Giannis Antetokounmpo to Lakers originally appeared on The Sporting News The Dallas Mavericks stunned the NBA when they traded Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers ahead of the 2024-25 trade deadline, and they could shock the league once again. The Mavericks lucked out this summer, receiving the No. 1 overall pick and selecting Cooper Flagg to add alongside Anthony Davis, Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson and Dereck Lively. With a new era in place and a win-now mindset, the Mavericks could shake things up and make another blockbuster trade in 2025-26. While it seems very unlikely to happen, Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report recently compiled a massive five-team mock trade that would land the Mavericks LeBron James. Here's Pincus' proposed trade: Mavericks receive: LeBron James, Bronny James, Andre Jackson Jr., Tyler Smith, Drew Timme Bucks receive: RJ Barrett, P.J. Washington, Caleb Martin, Naji Marshall, $2 million trade exception (Tyler Smith), 2026 first-round pick swap (LAL), 2026 second-round pick (LAL via TOR), 2028 first-round pick swap (LAL), 2030 first-round pick swap (LAL), 2031 first-round pick (LAL), 2032 first-round pick swap (LAL) Lakers receive: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Olivier-Maxence Prosper, Tyrese Martin, $4 million trade exception (Dalton Knecht), $2 million trade exception (Bronny James) Raptors receive: Daniel Gafford, $13.3 million trade exception (RJ Barrett) Nets receive: Dalton Knecht, Jaden Hardy, Dwight Powell With Flagg now on the roster, the Mavericks would be acquiring James for depth pieces — none of whom are expected to start this season. Gafford, Washington and Marshall are talented players, but adding James could immediately catapult the Mavericks into title contention in a stacked Western Conference. MORE: NBA writer links Mavericks to two 7-footers for final roster spot If James approved and waived his no-trade clause, a reunion with Irving and Davis would be an intriguing storyline in what could be James' final season. Meanwhile, the Lakers would move on from the LeBron era by forming a trio of Antetokounmpo, Doncic and Austin Reaves. The Bucks appear extremely unlikely to move Antetokounmpo, but this deal could provide a path to rebuild if the two-time MVP ultimately requests a trade. This trade is certainly an intriguing concept, albeit one that seems nearly impossible to materialize.
