Mohd Na'im condemns misuse of prayers for political motives
He said the content of the prayer recited in front of the crowd not only contained unfounded accusations against the country's leadership but was also divisive among Muslims.
'The content of the prayer is deeply concerning as it could incite extremism and radicalism among the public,' he said in a statement posted on his social media today.
He said prayer was a powerful link between man and Allah, as well as a means of seeking mercy, forgiveness, and strength to face life's trials.
As such, he urged the public to remain vigilant against any party that did not respect the status of prayer from the perspective of Islamic law and who used it narrowly for personal or group interests.
Meanwhile, the Institute of Islamic Understanding Malaysia (IKIM) also voiced concern over several incidents during the assembly.
Its director-general, Assoc Prof Datuk Dr Mohamed Azam Mohamed Adil, said the institute viewed seriously the acts of reciting Qunut Nazilah targeting national leaders, spreading sodomy allegations without evidence, and displaying symbolic effigies of leaders being caned — all of which were deemed to have violated Islamic ethics and decorum.
'Prayer is a noble act of worship and should be performed with wisdom and sincerity, free from emotional influence or political interest,' he said.
He also explained that spreading sodomy allegations without four male witnesses of just character constituted the offence of 'qazaf', which is strictly forbidden in Islam, while mocking a person's dignity through symbolic insults clearly undermined the values of Malaysian decency. - Bernama

The minister said the digital and Artificial Intelligence (AI) agenda will remain a key focus, in line with efforts to foster innovation and drive value-based economic growth. "As part of efforts to 'raise the floor', the government remains committed to improving the quality of public services for the rakyat. "This aligns with the goals of the 13MP, particularly in reforming the education and healthcare sectors," he said. He acknowledged that addressing structural imbalances in the economy is challenging. "At times, policies introduced may be unpopular, but they are necessary as they bring long-term benefits to the people. Importantly, any fiscal reforms undertaken will never come at the expense of the rakyat's well-being," he said.

Bernama Terengganu Bureau journalist Balqis Jamaludin won the Best Digital Media News Award for her report titled Pemuda Ikat Tong Dram Bawah Katil Untuk Keselesaan Bapa Terlantar Sakit, earning her a plaque, certificate and RM1,500 cash prize. Part-time photographer Mohd Syafiq Ambak was named the winner of the Best Print Media Photo Award for his photo Katil Terapung, while photographer Mohd Khairul Fikiri Osman secured third place in the same category with his photo Rezeki Banjir. Mohd Syafiq received a plaque, certificate and RM1,500 in cash, while Mohd Khairul Fikiri took home a plaque, certificate and RM500. Putin highlights strong Russia-Malaysia political dialogue
MOSCOW: Political dialogue between Russia and Malaysia remains well established, with consistent engagement across government and parliamentary levels, according to Russian President Vladimir Putin. Putin extended a warm welcome to Malaysia's King Sultan Ibrahim during their meeting at the Kremlin, marking nearly 60 years of diplomatic relations between the two nations. 'Political dialogue is well established. We communicate at the government and parliamentary levels and are in constant contact,' Putin stated. The Russian leader noted the active involvement of Malaysian officials in bilateral exchanges, including visits by government leaders.
