Muhyiddin wants charges dropped over RM232m Jana Wibawa-linked funds, court told
Deputy Public Prosecutor Datuk Wan Shaharuddin Wan Ladin informed High Court Judge K. Muniandy of the development during case mention proceedings today.
He said the representation was filed at the end of last month and is currently under consideration by the AGC. This is the first representation submitted in relation to the case.
Muhyiddin was present in court, accompanied by his lawyers Datuk Amer Hamzah Arshad and Rosli Dahlan. The court has fixed October 7 for the next mention.
Muhyiddin, 78, who was then Prime Minister and Bersatu president, was charged with four counts of abuse of power for allegedly soliciting RM232.5 million in bribes for the political party from Bukhary Equity Sdn Bhd, Nepturis Sdn Bhd, Mamfor Sdn Bhd, and Datuk Azman Yusoff in connection with the Jana Wibawa project.
He was accused of committing the offence at the Prime Minister's Office, Bangunan Perdana Putra, Federal Government Administration Centre in Putrajaya between March 1, 2020, and August 20, 2021.
The Pagoh Member of Parliament also faces three charges of receiving RM200 million in illegal proceeds from Bukhary Equity Sdn Bhd, which were deposited into Bersatu's Ambank and CIMB Bank accounts.
The offence was allegedly committed at AmBank, Amcorp Mall branch, Petaling Jaya on January 7, 2022, and CIMB Bank, Menara KL Branch, Jalan Stesen Sentral, between February 25 and July 16, 2021, and February 8 and July 8, 2022. — Bernama

The three sections deal with insulting the modesty of a person, intentional insult to provoke a breach of the peace, and actions that cause disharmony, respectively. Salman had claimed that a cow would usually lead the herd, while bulls serve to protect the herd. He said society should, therefore, avoid elevating women to leadership positions, and that men should assume leadership roles in accordance with Quranic teachings. Earlier today, Tuan Ibrahim defended Salman, saying such analogies were used in literary works and not meant to degrade women. 'In Islamic literature in the past, there are works such as 'Kalilah wa Dimnah', which are filled with analogies and stories about animals, used to convey teachings and moral values,' he was quoted as saying. He said he saw nothing sexist about Salman's remark.

Decomposing body of elderly woman found in locked flat
The body of Halimatun Yusoff was found in the living room of her residence after firefighters forced open a locked door. PETALING JAYA : The decomposing body of an elderly woman was found at her residence in Flat Sri Guchil, Kuala Krai, Kelantan, this afternoon. Kuala Krai fire and rescue station operations commander Khairul Duha Abdul Halim said the body of Halimatun Yusoff, 69, who lived alone, was found at 2.08pm in the living room after firefighters forced open a locked door. 'We received a distress call at 2.04pm from police seeking assistance to open the door to the unit following a complaint of a foul smell. 'After the door was opened, our team found the decomposing body of an elderly woman who had died in the living room,' Bernama reported him as saying today.

Elderly man beaten to death, son nabbed
Kuala Krai police chief Mazlan Mamat said the suspect would be taken to the magistrates' court tomorrow for a remand application. PETALING JAYA : An elderly man is believed to have been beaten to death with a blunt object in Kampung Baru Kuala Gris, Dabong, Kelantan early this morning. Kuala Krai police chief Mazlan Mamat said police received an emergency call about the incident at 7.30am from a member of the public. He said a team from the Kuala Krai police headquarters and Dabong police station rushed to the location and found the 74-year-old victim lying in a pool of blood in the kitchen. 'Initial investigations show the victim was struck on the head with a blunt object, which caused serious injuries. He was confirmed dead at the location. 'Police detained the victim's 30-year-old son and seized a broken chair,' Bernama reported him as saying. Mazlan said the suspect tested positive for methamphetamine in initial urine tests. He was a former inmate of the Batu Jong satellite prison in Kuala Krai for drug trafficking, having been released in early July. 'Since his release, the suspect has been living with the victim and his mother. Checks also found that the suspect has seven previous criminal records, five related to drug cases and two cases of criminal intimidation,' he said. Mazlan said the victim's body was sent to the Sultan Ismail Petra Hospital's forensic unit for a post-mortem. The suspect will be brought to the magistrates' court tomorrow for a remand application. He said the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
