Elmina Lakeside Mall marks its first anniversary with a month-long celebration featuring an eclectic mix of arts, culture and community-driven activities from Aug 1 to Sept 1, 2025.
KUALA LUMPUR: Sime Darby Property Bhd 's (SDP) Elmina Lakeside Mall will mark its first anniversary with a month-long celebration from Aug 1 to Sept 1, 2025. The event features arts, cultural, and community activities, headlined by the Swiss Dream Circus.
In a statement, it said the Swiss Dream Circus returns with a new cast and production, delivering 27 shows from Aug 1 to 24, 2025. Titled Passion – The Greatest Show in Town, it features up to 10 acts, including Cirque du Soleil's Misha and a 14-member troupe.
In addition to the circus, Elmina Lakeside Mall will host a life-sized Monopoly Run on Aug 2 with three race categories: 10km (ages 16+), 5km (13+), and 2km kids dash (12 and below).
The final leg of the Yayasan Sime Darby Art Festival will be held at the mall on Aug 9, featuring free workshops, performances, and art installations to celebrate its 10th anniversary.
The celebrations end on Aug 30 with a Merdeka Eve event featuring an open-air concert by the Selangor Symphony Orchestra, a drone and fireworks show, hot air balloon rides, flying fox, and lake activities.
Opened a year ago, Elmina Lakeside Mall serves over 870,000 residents and spans 400,000 sq. ft. across 52 acres, blending lifestyle and nature in the City of Elmina. The mall is fully occupied and draws an average of 450,000 visitors monthly.

KUALA LUMPUR: Elmina Lakeside Mall recently celebrated its first anniversary with a packed programme that included the return of the Swiss Dream Circus and a range of family-friendly activities. The mall, developed and owned by Sime Darby Property Bhd, hosted a by-invitation Gala Night on Aug 1 featuring the acclaimed Swiss Dream Circus. The show marked the start of the troupe's month-long run at the venue, with 27 public performances scheduled from Aug 2-24. Led by Misha, a clown formerly with Cirque du Soleil, the international 14-member troupe delivered a two-and-a-half-hour performance filled with aerial acts, juggling, roller-skating stunts and live music. Guests of the gala night included Tengku Permaisuri Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin. As part of its community outreach, SD Property invited 125 children and caretakers from several welfare homes to attend the show. Beneficiaries came from groups including Great Heart Charity Association, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Dan Perlindungan Al-Haq Malaysia, Pusat Jagaan Rahoma Subang Jaya and Rumah Kanak-Kanak Triniti. The circus shows are part of a broader anniversary celebration that will continue until Sept 14. Events include the Monopoly Run, the final leg of the Yayasan Sime Darby Arts Festival, a Merdeka Eve musical and fireworks display featuring the Selangor Symphony Orchestra, and hot air balloon rides. ( August 02, 2025 ) — LIM BENG TATT/The Star GEORGE Town Festival (GTF) 2025 has kicked off in Penang, promising locals and tourists alike a celebration of arts and culture till Aug 10. Its "After Dusk" opening gala at the Esplanade on Aug 2 thrilled large crowds with a projection mapping display on the facade of the historic Town Hall alongside contemplative dance performances, uplifting folk music and an open-air night market. Present to launch the occasion were Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, state tourism and creative economy committee chairman Wong Hon Wai and other state leaders. The "After Dusk" event will repeat on Aug 3 from 5pm onwards. The projection mapping, called "Terang" by Filamen, will continue on its own from 8pm to 11pm nightly until the festival's end. There is also "Between Departures", a mobile live music experience aboard a RapidPenang city bus featuring acoustic sets by 1 Drum and Sundal Malam Ensemble. This will depart Jalan Padang Kota Lama at 5pm, 6pm, 8pm and 9pm on Aug 3, 9 and 10. Elsewhere, there is the "Three Generations, One Jazzy Heartbeat" concert featuring The Stacey Wei Quartet at Majestic Theatre at 8pm on Aug 3. Up next is "129BPM - Contemporary Hip Hop Dance Theatre" produced by H2Q Dance Company and managed by Morua, at Dewan Sri Pinang on Aug 4 and 5, starting at 8pm both nights. Look out for the specially commissioned work "Waris" taking place at Pengkalan Nelayan Paramount (off Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah) at 6pm on Aug 8 and 9. This evocative, site-specific performance celebrates the rhythms of the sea and the ancestral wisdom of the fishermen's last living heirs. "Between Light and Grey: A Double Bill of Puppetry" takes place at The Whiteaways Arcade at 3pm and 8pm on Aug 9, and then 3pm on Aug 10. Enjoy two distinct but complementary works by artists trained in contemporary puppetry in Taiwan, which explore themes of memory, identity, and transitions between childhood and adulthood. Also playing on Aug 9 and 10, but at 8pm in Dewan Sri Pinang, is "Birdy" - a captivating dance piece by Lai Hung-chung that explores the interplay of freedom and limitations. Besides these highlights, there are numerous other exciting ones to experience among GTF 2025's 50-strong line-up of dance, music, theatre, photography and visual arts programmes. It includes "The City of Willows", a playable art installation by Chong Yan Chuah and Simon Soon with curatorial direction by Wei Ming, which was inspired by the hidden histories of 19th-century Chinese secret societies. This is held at Ng Fook Thong Temple and open from noon to 7pm daily. The "Living the Tanjong Life" exhibition offers a heartfelt tribute to the late cartoonist Azmi Hussin and is held at LUMA from 10am to 6pm daily. Meanwhile, "Symbiosis: Crab Chronicle" is also open from 11am to 7pm at The Whiteaways Arcade and allows visitors to explore Penang's ecosystems from the perspective of its crabs via virtual reality. At Sia Boey Urban Archaeological Park, Neoh Shin Yen's "A Debt of Time" outdoor installation ponders themes of impermanence, connection and memory. Celebrations begin today for a Shah Alam township in conjunction with its first anniversary. The month-long festivities will see arts, culture and community-led activities held at Elmina Lakeside Mall until Sept 1. The community hub for some 870,000 City of Elmina residents is the second wholly-owned mall by township developer Sime Darby Property Bhd. Leading the activities will be the world-famous Swiss Dream Circus that will feature an all-new cast and production. Audiences will be treated to 'Passion – The Greatest Show in Town', a showcase of up to 10 breathtaking acts by acrobats, aerialists and other performers. Among these will be Cirque du Soleil star clown Misha and a 14-member troupe delivering a total of 27 shows until Aug 24.
