Bengal Woman Confined, Tortured By Man, His Mother For Refusing To Do Porn
Howrah Police have launched a search for a man and his mother who allegedly detained and assaulted a woman in their residence in Domjur in Howrah district for refusing to act in a pornographic film, an officer said on Sunday. The 23-year-old woman, a resident of Sodepur in North 24 Parganas district, is undergoing treatment at the College of Medicine and Sagore Dutta Hospital, the officer of Barrackpore Police Commissionerate said.
"The accused woman and her son are absconding and a search for them has been launched. We are trying to probe whether they were running any pornography film racket in the veil of running an event management agency," an officer of Howrah City Police said.
Sources in the police said that the accused woman, along with her son, was also running a film production house where "soft pornographic reels" were shot.
"Initial probe has revealed that they used to lure young girls looking for employment under the pretext of a good salary and then force them to take part in films with pornographic content," the officer said.
The accused woman was also allegedly running a sex racket in the area, he said, adding that it was also being probed.
The victim alleged that, more than the son, his mother used to torture her during her "captivity" at their Domjur residence. "I want the police to arrest the woman. She used to torture me the most. She used to beat me while this guy, her son, used to watch that from a distance," she said.
The victim had come in contact with the man from Howrah's Domjur on Facebook last year. He had promised her a job if she came to his residence, a police officer said.
When she visited his Domjur residence to discuss the job, the youth, along with his mother, allegedly assaulted her after failing to lure her into the profession of a bar dancer and forced her to do domestic chores, the woman's parents said in the police complaint lodged at Khardah police station.
The victim has also claimed that her mobile phone was taken away by the two accused.

Six cases filed over inflammatory, derogatory social media posts
Dakshina Kannada police have filed total six separate cases, in Belthangady and Venur police stations, over alleged inflammatory and derogatory social media posts. Ajith Nagappa Basapur, a resident of Chabbi in Hubballi, filed a complaint with Belthangady police against activist Girish Mattanavar stating that he made deregatory remaks against Jains during his interview to Kudla Rampage, a YouTube channel. The police registered a case in this connection against Mattannavar and Kudla Rampage channel owner Ajay Achan for offences under sections 196 (1) and 299 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Another case was registered by Belthangady police against Bengaluru lawyer Jagadish for his alleged inflammatory Facebook post. This compliant was registered under sections 189 (6) and 191 (3) of BNS. The third case was registered by Belthangady police against a post on Facebook page of Lokesh Poojary for writing in a derogatory manner against revered folk heroes Koti and Chennayya of Tulu Nadu. The fourth case was registered against Facebook post of Naveen Jain for threatening to attack those who are speaking against Dharmasthala. The Venur police registered a case under section 296 of BNS against the post on 'Vikas Vikki Hindu' Facebook page wherein derogatory references have been made in reference to the case of Soujanya, who was raped and murdered near Dharmasthala in 2013. Conversion racket busted in Kashi: Man posed as Hindu, married 12 women across three states
LUCKNOW: A shocking case of identity fraud and religious conversion came to light in Varanasi on Wednesday, as Sarnath police arrested Sharaf Rizvi from Farrukhabad for posing as a Hindu man named Samrat Singh and allegedly marrying multiple Hindu women under false pretences. Rizvi was caught after a woman from Sarnath filed a complaint, accusing him of duping her into a relationship by promising marriage, extorting ₹5 lakh, and pressuring her to convert to Islam. The accused has since been remanded to judicial custody. According to Sarnath police, Rizvi admitted during interrogation that he had trapped at least 12 women across three states, including Uttar Pradesh, by creating fake identities on matrimonial websites. He targeted women, extracted money and gifts, and revealed his real identity only after securing physical relationships, often pressuring them to convert to Islam. Police sources said Rizvi used a calculated three-point strategy: he identified women on matrimonial platforms, presented himself as a wealthy Hindu businessman, and exploited them emotionally and financially. Once trust was gained, he would introduce the idea of conversion post-engagement or after physical intimacy. Rizvi reportedly maintained three Facebook accounts under different Hindu names, Samrat Singh, Ajay Kumar, and Vijay Kumar. He told police that his real account as Sharaf Rizvi barely gained attention online, while his Hindu aliases received instant responses, prompting him to double down on the impersonation. Through sites like Rizvi contacted over 100 women after purchasing a subscription, engaging with them and their families. He fabricated elaborate lies, claiming to be an exporter with properties in multiple cities. When asked to introduce his family via video call, he had friends pose as relatives. To further convince families, Rizvi rented luxury cars, wore expensive clothing, and portrayed a high-profile lifestyle. Once trust was secured, he would visit the women, establish physical relationships, and request money for wedding expenses. In several cases, he allegedly cut off contact after taking money.
