However, despite Rajkummar earning praise for his powerful act, the film has had a modest run at the box office so far.
A slow climb at the box office
According to early estimates reported by Sacnilk, 'Maalik' collected Rs 2 crore on Day 5, which has pushed its total domestic earnings to Rs 18 crore.
The film began its theatrical journey with an opening day collection of Rs 3.75 crore.
Over the weekend, it managed to see some growth, raking in Rs 5.25 crore each on Saturday and Sunday. But once the weekend wrapped up, the collections started dipping.
Occupancy on Tuesday
On Tuesday, July 15, 'Maalik' recorded an overall Hindi occupancy of 16.71%. In the morning, shows had just 6.84% occupancy. Afternoon shows improved slightly with 13.84%, evening shows had 16.50%, while night shows did a bit better with 29.64%.
Clash with 'Superman'
One reason for the film's slow start could be the big Hollywood release 'Superman', which came out in the same week.

Jurassic World: Rebirth, directed by Gareth Edwards and starring Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, Mahershala Ali and others, had an excellent 85 percent growth on 3rd Saturday at the India box office, as it collected Rs 3.50 crore. Clubbed with its collections over the first 15 days, the total collections of Rebirth stand at Rs 78.10 crore and it should be standing at little around Rs 82 crore net by the end of the weekend. The Day Wise India Net Collections Of Jurassic World: Rebirth Are As Under Particulars India Net Collections Week 1 Rs 50.45 crore Week 2 Rs 22.30 crore 3rd Friday Rs 1.85 crore 3rd Saturday Rs 3.50 crore Total Rs 78.10 crore net in 16 days Note: The collections don't include the 3D handling charges Jurassic World: Rebirth Is A Hit In India; However, It Is Not The Franchise's Prime While Jurassic World: Rebirth is not the best performing Jurassic film in India, it is atleast better than Dominion. It may most likely also go past Fallen Kingdom, though it may likely fall short of Jurassic World (2015). The franchise is past its prime in India, but the perfornance of Rebirth atleast assures that it is alive and kicking. Jurassic Park's adjusted net India collections may be close to Rs 250 crore, and thus one would expect atleast Rs 150 crore from new films of this franchise, if not more. Rebirth will fall around 40 percent short of the mark, but that doesn't absolve it of a hit verdict. Hopefully, if there is a major revamp to the franchise with higher stakes and conflicts, we may get back the prime days of the franchise. Jurassic World: Rebirth Chases Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning To Be Hollywood's Highest Grossing Indian Film Jurassic World: Rebirth heads to be the highest grossing Hollywood movie of 2025 so far in India, chasing Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning. F1 is also chasing Tom Cruise's action-thriller in India, but Rebirth will likely take the first spot. Jurassic World: Rebirth In Theatres

Responding to a reader's question, she revealed, 'I grew up with big dogs, and I actually never planned on getting tiny dogs, but here we are! Martini and Brando would love a big dog.' Her words, while lighthearted, offer a deeper look at her and Allen's approach to home life—playful, loving, and centered around values that stretch far beyond Hollywood appearances or NFL pressure. Steinfeld's past comments about keeping her life with Allen private—saying it 'just makes things extra special'—resonate even more when fans catch these quiet glimpses of their domestic life. Superman Day 9 India Box Office: David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan's film observes good 80 percent growth from Friday BUT...
Superman, directed by James Gunn and starring David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult and others, grew by a good 80 percent from 2nd Friday to net Rs 3 crore on its 2nd Saturday. Clubbed with its first 8 day collections, the total of the James Gunn directorial stands at Rs 37.40 crore. By the end of the 2nd weekend, Superman should be standing at a number of over Rs 40 crore net. The Day Wise India Net Collections Of Superman Are As Under Particulars India Net Collections Week 1 Rs 32.75 crore 2nd Friday Rs 1.65 crore 2nd Saturday Rs 3 crore Total Rs 37.40 crore in 9 days Superman's Collections In India So Far Are Underwhelming; To Cross Rs 40 Crore Net On Day 10 The total collections of Superman after 9 days are slightly underwhelming. The movie should have been doing significantly better than what it is doing. In the weekdays, the day-on-day collections of a 3 and a half week old film, F1, should be higher. Jurassic World: Rebirth, over its 3rd weekend, is already ahead and that's enough proof of the superhero film's underperformance in India. As things stand, a Rs 50 crore net finish is what is expected from Superman. Even that depends on how the film reacts once Fantastic Four: First Steps releases. Superman Is Doing Exceptionally In The Domestic Markets Superman is performing better in the domestic markets. It has crossed USD 200 million in US/Canada on 2nd Saturday and is heading for a lifetime of USD 375 million or so. The global collections of the David Corenswet film shall have crossed USD 400 million by the end of its second weekend, setting the movie well for a lifetime cume of over USD 600 million. Given how DC has been losing credibility over the last few years, these are really appreciable numbers. If James Gunn propels DCU in the right direction, the brand will get back the dedicated following it once enjoyed. There surely is a lot of scope left in this Comic Book brand. Superman In Theatres
