Oman set to host ICC Men's T20 World Cup qualifier
The sub-regional qualifiers from 2024 --Kuwait, Malaysia, UAE, Qatar, Japan, and Samoa --will join Nepal, Papua New Guinea, and the hosts to battle for three spots at next year's ICC Men's T20 World Cup.
Of these sides, Oman, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, and the UAE have previously featured in the Men's T20 World Cup. The tournament will be a 10-day affair, with a group stage that runs from October 8 to 10.
The nine teams are divided into three groups of three, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the Super Six stage, which will be played from October 12 to 17. At the end of the Super Six stage, the top three teams will earn their place in the Men's T20 World Cup 2026, to be held in India and Sri Lanka.
Group 1 comprises the UAE, Malaysia, and Qatar, while Group 2 features Nepal and Kuwait, along with the East Asia-Pacific region's rising force, Japan. The hosts, Oman, are in Group 3 along with Papua New Guinea and Samoa.
The East Asia-Pacific women's path to the T20 World Cup 2026 has also been announced, through their qualifying event set to take place in September.
The ICC Women's T20 World Cup EAP Qualifier will take place from September 9 to 15 and will be staged in Suva, Fiji.
The hosts will welcome Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, Japan, Samoa, the Cook Islands, and the Philippines for the Qualifier.

England to host next three WTC Finals; ICC announces key updates at Annual Conference
Singapore City: The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has been awarded the hosting rights for the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Finals in 2027, 2029, and 2031. The decision was confirmed during the International Cricket Council's (ICC) Annual Conference held in Singapore, recognising ECB's successful record in organising recent finals, as per the ICC. Among other key developments, the ICC also provided an update on the ongoing efforts to support displaced women cricketers of Afghan descent. In relation to USA Cricket, the ICC reiterated its previous position and confirmed that the organisation remains on notice. USA Cricket is required to undertake comprehensive governance reforms, including but not limited to completing free and fair elections within a three-month period. The Board, however, reserves the right to take such actions as it deems appropriate. Additionally, Gurumurthy Palani (France Cricket), Anuraag Bhatnagar (Cricket Hong Kong, China), and Gurdeep Klair (Cricket Canada) were elected to the ICC Chief Executives' Committee (CEC) as Associate Member representatives. Formal votes of thanks were recorded to outgoing ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice, and to departing CEC members Sumod Damodar (Botswana Cricket Association), Rashpal Bajwa (Cricket Canada), and Umair Butt (Cricket Denmark), for their service to the global game. Two new members joined the ICC family to take the total membership to 110 members with Timor-Leste Cricket Federation and Zambia Cricket Union formally becoming ICC Associate members.

Oman Cricket appoints Sulakshan Kulkarni as Deputy Head Coach of Oman Men's National Team
Muscat: Oman Cricket is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Sulakshan Kulkarni as the Deputy Head Coach of the Oman Men's Cricket Team. A seasoned cricketing mind and former first-class cricketer, Kulkarni brings with him over two decades of elite coaching experience and a deep understanding of the game, having contributed significantly to Indian Domestic Cricket and International Assignments. A former Mumbai stalwart, Kulkarni played first-class cricket from 1985 to 2002, sharing the dressing room with legends such as Sunil Gavaskar and Sachin Tendulkar. He also boasts an illustrious record with seven Ranji Trophy and Irani Cup titles with Mumbai, as a player and coach then. He was also named among the probable squad in India's 1987 World Cup squad. His coaching portfolio spans across top Indian domestic teams including Mumbai, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra. Harare: Right-arm seamer Matt Henry's three-wicket haul and opener Devon Conway's unbeaten fifty helped the New Zealand side to register a comfortable eight-wicket victory over hosts, Zimbabwe, in the third clash of the ongoing T20I tri-series at the Harare Sports Club on Friday. With this win, New Zealand moved to the top of the points table after winning their second match in a row in the ongoing series.
