Cops launch urgent appeal to trace missing OAP who vanished from Larkhall
A missing persons probe is underway after a vulnerable pensioner disappeared on Friday. James Featherstonhaugh vanished from Larkhall, Lanarkshire.
The 81-year-old - who has mobility issues which sees him having to use a stick and shuffling when he walks - was last seen on Friday morning, at around 9.15am.
The last sighting of James, who has links to the nearby town of Hamilton, was in a lane close to Quarry Road in Larkhall, and officers believe he may have gone to Hamilton.
A post on the Police Scotland Lanarkshire Facebook page said: "Officers in Larkhall are appealing for the help of the public to trace 81-year-old James Featherstonhaugh from Larkhall - who has been missing since Friday, 9 May 2025.

"James is described as being white, about 5 ft 7 inches in height, medium build and wearing dark rimmed glasses. He was last seen in a lane near Quarry Road in Larkhall around 9.15am on Friday, 9 May 2025."
The post adds that "he was wearing a grey sleeveless jacket, dark combat-style cord trousers and dark training shoes with white soles. He uses a walking stick and shuffles when he walks. He has links to the Hamilton area and may have travelled there."
Inspector Greg McLaughlan from Hamilton Police Office said: "We are concerned for James's welfare and carrying out extensive enquiries to find him.
"If you have seen him, or anyone you believe matches his description, please get in touch with police as a matter of urgency. I would encourage people to keep a look out for him."
Inspector McLaughlan added: "Anyone with information about his current whereabouts should contact 101 quoting incident number 2986 of Saturday, 10 May 2025."

It comes as a man was arrested and charged following the sexual assault of a woman just along the road on Sunday night. On Sunday August 10 at around 11.15pm, officers raced to Nicolson Street after being made aware of the incident. Edinburgh Oasis fan put 'in headlock and wrestled to ground' by security as probe launched

Shocking footage has emerged of a security guard allegedly putting an Oasis fan in a headlock before wrestling him to the ground at the band's final performance in Edinburgh. Man seen 'attacking kids at Aldi' as cops launch manhunt
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said the service is appealing for witnesses following the alleged assault at an Aldi on King Street in Leigh on August 6. Cops have launched a manhunt after a person was seen "attacking children in an Aldi store." Police in Manchester have put out a public appeal regarding the incident that reportedly took place at an Aldi on King Street in Leigh, Wigan, earlier this month. The service said in a statement this afternoon that during the incident on August 6, the man was alleged to have "assaulted two children". Neither of the two were injured, reports the Mirror. A spokesperson for GMP said they it was seeking two people to whom they would like to talk who were captured on CCTV, and that it is believed "they could help with their enquiries". The force said: "Officers are appealing for witnesses following a reported incident at Aldi on King Street, Leigh. "At 12.50pm on Wednesday 6 August, an incident appears to have occurred whereby a male is alleged to been aggressive and assaulted two children. "While the children did not received injuries, the police would like to talk to the two people pictured, as it is believed that they could help with their enquiries. If you were in the store and witnessed the incident then please do come forward."
