What Is Baby Grok? Musk's xAI Announces Kid-Friendly AI Chatbot After Companion Controversy
It is expected to be a simplified version of the Grok AI chatbot and will be tailored for safe and educational interactions with children.
"We're going to make Baby Grok @xAI, an app dedicated to kid-friendly content," Mr Musk wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
Beyond this, Mr Musk did not disclose details on how the children-focused AI app will differ from xAI's usual offering. Unlike other chatbots, Mr Musk's Grok is known for giving foul-mouthed replies if the user asks for it. However, with children also operating the chatbot, it could have a negative influence, which may have prompted the development of Baby Grok.

Social media reacts
Reacting to the announcement, the majority of social media users lauded the move, saying they may now consider introducing Grok to their children.
"Instant favourite in every family home," said one user, while another added: "Much needed. I have to let my kids use my app right now over ChatGPT."
A third commented: "Thank you!!!!! My daughter has been wanting to play with it but I wouldn't let her."
What is Grok?
xAI's Grok, launched in 2023, is Mr Musk's response to OpenAI's ChatGPT, Meta's Llama, and Google's Gemini. With the AI being perceived as the future of technology and humanity, Mr Musk has spent considerable resources to fast-track Grok's development.
Earlier this month, xAI rolled out chatbot Grok 4 just months after releasing its previous iteration, underscoring the frenetic pace of AI development. Mr Musk claimed that Grok 4 is one of the most advanced chatbots capable of solving almost any query.
"With respect to academic questions, Grok 4 is better than PhD level in every subject, no exceptions," said Mr Musk during the launch. "At times, it may lack common sense, and it has not yet invented new technologies or discovered new physics, but that is just a matter of time.
The update came after the chatbot shared multiple antisemitic comments on X that drew widespread condemnation.
Currently, Grok has three modes: DeepSearch, Think, and Big Mind, which break down any query on the basis of the depth the user wants in the answer.

Saiyaara Box Office Collection Day 3: Bollywood newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda's first film is flying high in success since its release. As expected, Sunday delivered big numbers at the box office. The film has recorded its highest earnings so far on day 3. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Saiyaara has minted ₹ 27.08 crore on day 3 so far. These are the early estimates based on morning, afternoon and evening shows. Post night shows, the film is expected to cross ₹ 30 crore easily. The film recorded a growth of about 19.05% in its earnings from Saturday to Sunday. On Saturday, it earned ₹ 25 crore. With the latest earnings, the total business made by the film at the domestic box office is ₹ 73.08 crore. Human Coder Beats AI In Epic 10-Hour Showdown: 'Humanity Prevails, For Now'
Machines might not be able to dominate humans despite the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) -- at least yet, after a Polish programmer defeated an OpenAI model in a head-to-head coding competition. Programmer Przemyslaw Debiak, better known as Psycho, emerged victorious after a 10-hour marathon coding stint at the AtCoder World Tour Finals 2025 Heuristic contest in Tokyo. The contest might have been the first time where an AI model competed directly against top human programmers in a major onsite world championship, according to a report in Arstechnia. Having already competed in several events prior to the big showdown against AI, Debiak, a former OpenAI employee, managed to coast to victory despite being 'completely exhausted'. "Humanity has prevailed (for now!) I'm completely exhausted. I figured, I had 10 hours of sleep in the last 3 days and I'm barely alive," wrote Debiak on X (formerly Twitter). "The results are official now and my lead over AI increased from 5.5 per cent to 9.5 per cent. Honestly, the hype feels kind of bizarre. Never expected so many people would be interested in programming contests. Guess this means I should drop in here more often," he added. The competition required the contestants to solve a single complex optimisation problem over 10 hours. The solution lies in using clever, often imperfect strategies to reach the best possible solutions within strict time constraints. While Debiak may have emerged as the winner, the AI model still managed to outperform the remaining elite human programmers, who had each qualified for the competition through year-long rankings.
