India's most watched OTT show in 2025 so far has no big star, yet 27.7M views; beats Aashram, Panchayat, Squid Game 3
In this vast sea of content across platforms like Netflix, JioCinema, JioHotstar, ZEE5, Prime Video, and more, one show stood out in the second half of 2025, emerging as the most-watched original OTT show with over 27 million views.
It wasn't Bobby Deol's Aashram, Jitendra Kumar's Panchayat, or even the global hit Squid Game 3. This series captured the attention of viewers nationwide with only one popular actor in the lead.
The most viewed original OTT show is Pankaj Tripathi's Criminal Justice: A Family Matter, as per a Top 50 streaming originals in India list.
Ormax Media has released its Top 50 streaming originals in India list for the first half of 2025. The ranking includes only original content that was released directly on streaming platforms, excluding licensed or dubbed titles.
The viewership figures represent the number of unique individuals who watched at least one full episode of a series or a minimum of 30 minutes of a film on any streaming platform. Notably, the numbers reflect actual viewers, not the number of OTT accounts used, with each viewer counted only once, regardless of how many times they watched the particular show or episode.
Topping the list is Pankaj Tripathi's Criminal Justice, Season 4 on JioHotstar, which attracted a massive 27.7 million viewers.
The show returned with its new season, bringing back Pankaj Tripathi as lawyer Madhav Mishra. It also starred Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Surveen Chawla, Khushboo Atre and Asha Negi. The first three episodes of Criminal Justice Season 4 were released on May 29, 2025. After the initial release, new episodes were released weekly.
The show received a positive response from the critics and viewers.
Taking the no 1 spot, Criminal Justice Season 4 surpassed hit shows, including Bobby Deol's Ek Badnaam Aashram Season 3 Part 2, which took the second place with 27.1 million viewers. Coming in third is Jitendra Kumar's much-anticipated Panchayat Season 4 on Amazon Prime Video, with a total viewership of 23.8 million.
Following the top three, Jaideep Ahlawat's Paatal Lok on Amazon Prime Video bagged the fourth spot with 16.8 million viewers. In fifth place arrived the finale season of the Korean global sensation, Squid Game Season 3, drawing 16.5 million viewers.
Others on the list were-- The Legend of Hanuman Season 6 with 16.2 million views, The Royals at 15.5 million views, The Secret of the Shiledars with 14.5 million views, Chidiya Udd at 13.7 million views and Jewel Thief with 13.1 million views.

Jurassic World Rebirth box office India: Film crosses ₹100 crore, becomes 2025's 2nd highest-grossing Hollywood film
Universal Pictures India's latest epic, 'Jurassic World: Rebirth'—distributed by Warner Bros. Discovery—has officially crossed the monumental ₹ 100 crore benchmark at the Indian box office. The success marks an extraordinary comeback for the globally loved dinosaur franchise. Starring global action icon Scarlett Johansson, Emmy and SAG nominee Jonathan Bailey, and two-time Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali, this new chapter of the Jurassic saga immerses audiences in a thrilling expedition. The storyline follows an elite extraction team venturing into the most perilous place on Earth: the original Jurassic Park island, now overrun by colossal and untamed prehistoric beasts. Achieving this box office feat positions 'Jurassic World: Rebirth' as the 2nd highest Hollywood movie to cross the 100 crore mark in India in 2025, reflecting the enduring popularity of the franchise among Indian audiences. Opening to an impressive ₹ 49.3 crore during its Indian release weekend, the film also claimed the title of Biggest Opening Weekend for an MPA Title in 2025 (without sneaks). This robust performance highlights the Indian audience's undying fascination with the dinosaur universe. The film brings to life larger, more fearsome dinosaurs, intricate plot twists, and high-octane survival drama. 'This dramatic era unleashes bigger dinosaurs, twisted plotlines and much more intensity amongst the chaos and survival instincts amongst both humans and wild beasts – symbolising more than just box office numbers, the achievement presents an extraordinary revival of the beloved franchise,' said a spokesperson for Universal Pictures India.

Harbhajan Singh, Pathan Brothers Pull Out Of WCL Game Vs Pakistan: Reports
Harbhajan Singh has withdrawn from the World Championship of Legends game against Pakistan amid to public backlash. Harbhajan Singh, Ifran Pathan and Yusuf Pathan have reportedly withdrawn their names from the upcoming World Championship of Legends (WCL) game against Pakistan, after facing severe public backlash. Multiple reports suggest that he has made the decision considering the sour political relations between the country after the Pahalgam attack. India and Pakistan don't play bilateral cricket against each other. There were calls to end all multi-national tournament meetings between the two, as well, after the Pahalgam attack and the ensuing cross-border escalation that saw several Indian lives lost. 'My heart goes out to family members of all those who lost their lives in the dastardly attack. This can't be forgiven," Harbhajan wrote at the time. The current head coach, Gautam Gambhir, was one of many who asked India to cut all ties, bilateral or not, with the neighbors. Whereas, the India Champions captain in WCL, Yuvraj Singh, Shikhar Dhawan and others engaged in social media wars with the likes of Shahid Afridi over their anti-India commentary. The same cricketers became the centre of public anger after it was revealed that Afridi was part of the Pakistani team. Some reports suggest that other Indian cricketers might pull out from the tournament, too. What is WCL and who owns it? The league is co-owned by rapper and artist Harshit Tomar and Bollywood star Ajay Devgan. The league's website mentions Tomar as the CEO, while both have been seen together in promotional events. India's WCL Squad Shikhar Dhawan, Robin Uthappa (WK), Ambati Rayudu, Gurkeerat Singh Mann, Suresh Raina, Yuvraj Singh (C), Yusuf Pathan, Irfan Pathan, Stuart Binny, Vinay Kumar, Harbhajan Singh, Piyush Chawla, Siddarth Kaul, Abhimanyu Mithun and Varun Aaron Who are the other participants? The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) doesn't allow contracted or active Indian men's cricketers to participate in such private leagues (except state-association ones) in the country or outside. Hence, these 'Legends' leagues — there are several of them — contract retired cricketers from all around the globe. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
