Rugby-Matera to become most capped Argentina player against England
(Reuters) -Argentina have made seven changes to their side for the second test against England, and moved Pablo Matera from flanker to the back of the scrum where he will earn a record 111th international cap for the hosts in San Juan on Saturday.
A depleted England without their British & Irish Lions players outplayed their hosts in a comprehensive 35-12 victory last Saturday to ensure they keep their record of never having lost a series to Argentina.
Home coach Felipe Contepomi has made three changes to the backline with wings Matias Moroni and Ignacio Mendy coming into the side to form a back three with Benjamin Elizalde.
Simon Benitez Cruz also returns to scrumhalf to partner flyhalf Santiago Carreras, with the centre pairing made up of Justo Piccardo and Lucio Cinti.
Matera's move to number eight means Santiago Grondona is promoted from the bench to start, with Juan Martin Gonzalez the other flanker. Guido Petti and Pedro Rubiolo are in the second row.
Matera takes over from former hooker Agustin Creevy as Argentina's most capped player of all time.
Hooker Julian Montoya will captain the side again and has props Thomas Gallo and Francisco Gomez Kodela either side of him.

FA CEO Mark Bullingham condemned the abuse. "Our priority is Jess and giving her all the support she needs," Bullingham said in a statement. "We strongly condemn those responsible for this disgusting racism." Bullingham said the FA has been in contact with UK police, who are in touch with the relevant social media platform. "We are working with police to ensure those responsible for this hate crime are brought to justice," he said. "Regrettably this is not the first time this has happened to an England player, so we had measures in place to allow us to respond quickly and where possible provide information to support any potential police action." Sze Fei-Izzuddin miss chance to make history, set to lose world No. 1 ranking
PETALING JAYA: It was a double blow for shuttlers Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani after the duo missed out on their second consecutive Japan Open title and are also set to lose their world No. 1 ranking. Yesterday (July 19), Sze Fei-Izzuddin went down 16-21, 17-21 to South Korean hotshots Seo Seung-jae-Kim Won-ho in the final at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium. Seung-jae-Won-ho, who are currently ranked No. 3 in the world, would also officially take over from Sze Fei-Izzuddin as the new world No. 1 pair when the rankings list updates tomorrow (July 21). The independent pair were hoping to become the first Malaysians in the men's doubles to win the title in Japan more than once, but found the Koreans too hot to handle and lost out in a fast-paced match lasting just 38 minutes. Sze Fei admitted that Seung-jae-Won-ho were the better pair on the day. "The Koreans are very fast. We tried to catch up with them, but they were just too good," said Sze Fei, in a post-match interview with the Badminton World Federation (BWF). "We had nothing to prove against them. We just wanted to play our best and enjoy the game." It was Sze Fei-Izzuddin's second defeat to Seung-jae-Won-ho in three meetings after also coming up second best to the latter in the All-England second round in March. The Malaysians' sole victory over the high-flying Koreans so far came in the Indian Open final in January. England overcome weather delay for emphatic test victory
WASHINGTON: An experimental England side completed a clean sweep of their Americas tour with an emphatic 40-5 victory over the United States on Saturday. Curtis Langdon, Luke Northmore and Cadan Murley all scored tries as England were 19-0 ahead at halftime while Jack van Poortvliet, his replacement Harry Randall and debutant Gabriel Oghre added three more tries after the break. England captain George Ford put over four conversions and Charlie Atkinson one. The Americans scored their only points on the final whistle from a line-out break finished off by Shilo Klein. The start of the test at Audi Field, watched by some 19,000 spectators, was delayed for an hour by a weather alert and the players were taken off for a further half-hour when the referee ordered both teams off the field in the 29th minute because of a lightning warning. The disruptions, plus high humidity, had little ill effect on England, however, as they dominated the clash and might have posted a more emphatic scoreline were it not for handling errors. Having beaten Argentina in two tests earlier this month, despite ceding 13 players to the original British & Irish Lions squad and a further two subsequent replacements, England used six new caps against the US with an eye on increasing selection options for the World Cup in two years' time. "The conditions were difficult but it was a good group effort and a huge experience for the new players," said Ford after the final whistle.
