IND vs ENG: ‘If the wicket is similar to the last three Test matches, Kuldeep should play' Rahane puts his weight behind Kuldeep Yadav's inclusion

While Indian team management is still pondering over the bowling attack combination for the fourth Test against England at Manchester post the 22-run loss in the Lord's Test, Indian assistant bowling coach Ryan ten Doeschate had talked about Jasprit Bumrah's inclusion for the fourth Test with India trailing the series 1-2. With wickets in the previous three Tests offering lots of runs except the last two innings at Lord's, the series has also seen some high scores being made. With the same kind of wicket expected in Manchester, former Indian captain Ajinkya Rahane has urged the team management to play leg-spinner Kuldeep Yadav whether Bumrah plays or not in the next Test.
'Depending on the condition of the wicket, I feel Kuldeep should play. If the wicket is similar to the last three Test matches, Kuldeep should play because you need guys who can get you those wickets. Our batting unit is doing really well. Even if you score 25-30 runs less, that's okay. But you need people who can get you those wickets. You don't want to depend on your leading fast bowlers every time.' Rahane said on his Youtube channel.
India had gone with pacer Akashdeep when Bumrah had missed the second Test at Edgbaston. Post the win in the second Test, Indian team management had dropped Prasidh Krishna with Bumrah coming back in the team. The 31-year-old pacer has so far taken 12 wickets in the series with an average of 21.00. The Indian had broken former Indian captain Kapil Dev's record of having the most five-fors by an Indian in overseas Tests with Bumrah surpassing Dev's record of 12 overseas five-fors with his 13th five-for in overseas Tests for India during the Lord's Test. While Arshdeep Singh had suffered a cut on his hand during a training session earlier this week, Rahane counts Arshdeep as somebody who should replace Bumrah in case he does not play in Manchester. 'I think so, yes. If Bumrah is not playing, Arshdeep is the guy. Because in England, you need a left-arm seamer who can swing the ball both ways, and also, with a different angle, he can create that rough for the spinners. So, if Bumrah doesn't play, Arshdeep should play the next one,' Rahane said.
26-year-old Arshdeep is yet to make his Test debut. The Indian pacer was rushed to the doctor post the cut and Rahane believes that Arshdeep's condition will be important in the team's planning in the next few days before the Manchester Test. 'He took a ball while he was bowling there. So he hit a ball, and he tried to stop it and it's just a cut. So we have to see how bad the cut is. Obviously, the medical team have taken him off to see a doctor and obviously, if he needs stitches or does he not, that will be important to our planning for the next few days,' Rahane said.

Anderson admits feeling out of place beside Tendulkar with trophy in hand

England pace legend James Anderson confessed that seeing his name alongside the iconic Sachin Tendulkar on a trophy feels "completely out of place," calling it an incredible honour to be associated with "one of the greatest cricketers to have ever lived". The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has rechristened the Test series between India and England as the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, paying tribute to the two titans of the sport. Previously, the contests on English soil were played for the Pataudi Trophy, named after former Indian captains Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi and his son Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi. "It's not necessarily just how huge it is to have a trophy named after you, but alongside Sachin Tendulkar, who for me is one of the greatest ever cricketers to have lived. "I feel completely out of place when I see myself alongside him with the trophy. I hold him in such high regard." Anderson told 'Sky Sports'. "I watched him as a kid, played against him. He's just such an iconic cricketer who's carried the weight of a nation on his shoulders throughout his career and past it as well. So, to share something like this with him is an incredible honour." Both Anderson and Tendulkar are widely regarded as all-time greats. They are the most-capped players in the history of Test cricket. Tendulkar played 200 matches, and Anderson appeared in 188 Tests. Anderson, who claimed 704 wickets in 188 Tests, faced Tendulkar on several occasions during the late 2000s. The 42-year-old also reflected on how detached he sometimes feels from the legacy he's created. "It is strange that when people talk about what I have achieved in cricket, like when I hear about it as if someone's talking about someone else if that makes sense like I don't feel it is me who has achieved all this," he said. Anderson brought the curtain down on his illustrious career last year, stepping aside to make way for England's next generation of fast bowlers. England currently lead the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2-1 with the fourth Test slated to begin on Wednesday at Manchester.

Jasprit Bumrah on verge of breaking 2 Wasim Akram records in England; here's what India pacer needs to do in Manchester

Jasprit Bumrah is set to continue in the Indian playing XI for fourth Test against England in Manchester after the visitors suffered twin injury blows in the form of Akash Deep and Arshdeep Singh. Bumrah, who took a five-wicket haul each in Leeds (first Test) and Lord's (third Test), was set to be rested at Old Trafford as a part of his workload management. However, with Akash Deep and Arshdeep set to miss the fourth Test, starting on July 23 and the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy on the line, India can't afford to take any risk but to play Bumrah in an attempt to level the series. India currently trail 1-2 after three games. Bumrah, who holds the record of most wickets for India against England on English soil, is on the verge of breaking two Wasim Akram records in case he makes the playing XI next week. The right-arm pacer is just five wickets shy of overcoming Pakistan legend Akram for most Test wickets by an Asian bowler in England. In his 17-year long Test career, Akram played 14 matches in England and took 53 wickets. Bumrah has so far accumulated 49. That's not all. The premier Indian pacer will have a chance to surpass Akram and become the first Asian bowler for most five-wicket hauls in SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand, Australia) countries. Both Bumrah and Akram are stuck at 11 five-wicket hauls currently. 'Obstructing The Field' Controversy Strikes India vs England Women's ODI. Here's What Happened

The second women's ODI between India and England created a bit of controversy after India's appeal of obstruction in field was turned down. Playing at the iconic Lord's in London, the match was reduced to 29 overs-per side due to rain. India struggled to get going on a damp pitch. They managed just 143/8 in their allotted overs. England were close to chasing the target, but rain poured down again, and the target was reduced to 115 in 24 overs. They then chased the target in 21 overs and won the match by eight wickets. During the fourth over of England's chase, Tammy Beaumont played a shot off Deepti Sharma and ran for a single. The ball went towards Jemimah Rodrigues, who was placed at the mid-wicket and she threw it towards wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh. As Richa was about to get the ball, it hit on the leg of Tammy, who was coming inside the crease. The Indian team quickly appealed for obstruction in field as the on-field umpires quickly opted for the third umpire's decision. After checking few replays, Tammy was declared not out, leaving Team India disappointed. Law 37.1 in MCC's law book states, "Either batter is out Obstructing the field if, except in the circumstances of 37.2, and while the ball is in play, he/she wilfully attempts to obstruct or distract the fielding side by word or action." 37.1.2 states, "The striker is out Obstructing the field if, except in the circumstances of 37.2, in the act of receiving a ball delivered by the bowler, he/she wilfully strikes the ball with a hand not holding the bat. This will apply whether it is the first strike or a second or subsequent strike. The act of receiving the ball shall extend both to playing at the ball and to striking the ball more than once in defence of his/her wicket." Coming to the match, openers Amy Jones and Tammy Beaumont gave England a strong start, putting together a 54-run stand in just over 10 overs. Beaumont looked fluent during her 34 off 35 balls, which included five boundaries, before falling to Sneh Rana. Jones, however, remained calm and unbeaten, anchoring the innings with a steady 46, while Sophia Dunkley supported her with a run-a-ball 9 not out. Captain Nat Sciver -Brunt also chipped in with 21 before being bowled by Kranti Goud, who along with Rana were the only wicket-takers for India. Apart from them, the Indian bowlers failed to make much of an impact as England cruised to 116/2 in just 21 overs.
