Former Auburn receiver Seth Williams signs with the Las Vegas Raiders
Former Auburn wide receiver Seth Williams is returning to the National Football League. Multiple sources reported on Tuesday that Williams will sign with the Las Vegas Raiders just as teams are opening training camps. It will be his first time back in the NFL since 2024 when he was part of the Dallas Cowboys practice squad. The team released Williams in the summer before the 2025 season.
Williams was a mid-season addition in May to the DC Defenders of the United Football League. In two regular season games, he caught eight passes for 63 yards and one touchdown. He saved his best for the 2025 UFL Playoffs. In the two games, he caught three passes for 107 yards and one touchdown. In the XFL Conference Championship, he caught two passes for 61 yards and a touchdown. In the UFL Championship, Williams just caught one pass for 46 yards in the Defenders 58-34 win.
Williams ranks fourth all-time at Auburn with 2.124 receiving yards during his three seasons on the plains from 2018 to 2020. He is also fourth all-time in receiving touchdowns with 17. His best season for the Tigers was his sophomore season in 2019. That season he caught 59 yards for 830 yards and eight touchdowns. His production dropped during his final season in 2020, but that season also had less games. Williams would be drafted by Denver Broncos in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
He only played two games for the Broncos in 2021. He caught one pass for 34 yards. He then would spend time on the Jacksonville Jaguars practice squad for 2022 and 2023. Time will tell if his time in the UFL with the DC Defenders will translate to better production and a longer stay in the NFL this time around.

New York Giants' Russell Wilson sees value in playing preseason games
One would think that most NFL veterans, especially ones who have a Super Bowl ring and 10 Pro Bowls to their credit, would loathe playing preseason games. Not Russell Wilson. The 36-year-old, who signed a one-year, incentive-laden deal with the New York Giants in March, is as exuberant as ever. After the Giants pounded the Jets, 31-12, in their annual preseason meeting on Saturday night, Wilson told reporters he isn't one of those vets who avoid playing in the preseason. "I like playing in the preseason. I like playing any time I get a chance to do that," Wilson said. "Especially early on, you get a rhythm. I think that going against Buffalo, a really good defense, a really good team, obviously, they've been super successful the past several years, you know, last week, and to put a good drive, a 14-play drive together, to be able to move the ball well. "I think Wan'Dale (Robinson) had a really good game that game and made some great catches. Some guys, Theo (Johnson), had a really good game the first game; the offensive line did a great job." That success carried over into Saturday night's game against the Jets, and Wilson was equally as happy. "And then to come back in this game to see guys like Jalin (Hyatt) make some big -- we were backed up the first couple drives really -- and I thought we did a good job obviously getting out of there, the huge explosive play to Beaux (Collins), and then being on the one, two-yard line and Jalin Hyatt running a great route on the right, that was a huge play by him, tremendous route, great protection again," he said. "I think what it does is it just gives you that confidence in what we're doing. We're doing it on the practice field, as you guys have seen in how well we've practiced, but I think to translate that to the game, put a bunch of points on the board, and to be successful. There's still a lot more room to grow. We can be way better, we'll be better, and just as we continue to play and continue to get after it together, it's going to be fun." Wilson is currently the Giants' starter, but rookie Jaxson Dart is breathing down his neck. It no longer seems to be a case of if Dart gets to play this season, but when. Wilson appears to be leaning into it. "I think he's done a tremendous job. He definitely has worked at it every day. You know, he's sitting over here in the room so . . . But he works at it every day, and he asks the right questions," Wilson said of Dart. "That's what I enjoy about him. He knows this, like I'm never shy about giving information and talking about it and us learning about it and me asking and vice versa and we're all just constantly learning." The Giants are having fun and enjoying meaningless preseason games. Things really are changing in East Rutherford.

Saints Play of Day 21: Patrick Robinson's wild over-the-shoulder INT
The 2025 New Orleans Saints season is just three weeks, 21 days away from kicking off against the Arizona Cardinals. Continuing our countdown, we are turning back the clock by over a decade to celebrate an acrobatic interception made by Patrick Robinson in the No. 21 jersey. Robinson was a first-round draft pick back in the 2010 NFL draft. While he may have never turned into an All-Pro, he did put together an 11-year NFL career and spent eight of those years with the Saints. He also won a Super Bowl in 2018 with the Philadelphia Eagles. He had 16 interceptions throughout the regular season during his career, one of which was already on this countdown back when there were still 99 days left. The one we are highlighting today wasn't returned for a touchdown, but was acrobatic and impressive in its own right. Back in Week 5 of the 2014 season, New Orleans faced the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in what turned out to be a high-scoring 37-31 affair that the Saints came out on top of. Buccaneers quarterback Mike Glennon took a deep shot to Louis Murphy down the sideline in the second quarter. The pass hung in the air a bit, allowing Robinson to fully extend while in the middle of the air and end up coming down with the ball with an over-the-shoulder catch. You can watch the athletic interception for yourself here.

Former Vol lights Al Davis Memorial Torch ahead of Raiders-49ers game
San Francisco defeated Las Vegas, 22-19, Saturday in NFL preseason Week 2 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. Former Vol defensive back Terry McDaniel lit the Al Davis Memorial Torch before the game. The torch is traditionally lit before each home game and began on Oct. 18, 2011. The Al Davis Memorial Torch is a tribute to Davis' legacy as the Raiders' owner, Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee, AFL coach of the year, AFL commissioner and an architect of the Raiders' Commitment to Excellence. McDaniel played for the Raiders from 1988-97. He appeared in 143 games, including 137 starts. He was a five-time Pro Bowl (1992-96) selection, a First-Team All-Pro in 1993 and a three-time Second-Team All-Pro (1992, 1994-95). McDaniel was a first-round selection by the Raiders (No. 9 overall) in the 1988 NFL draft. He totaled 502 tackles, 35 interceptions and eight touchdowns. McDaniel played for the Vols from 1984-88 after redshirting during the 1983 season. He began his collegiate career as a wide receiver before playing defensive back.
