Pet dog licence enforcement drive begins
During the inspection, six dog owners were fined a total of Rs 30,000 for not having valid licences. Six new licences were issued on the spot, and the total collection of Rs 34,400 was deposited into the LMC treasury. Two dogs — a Golden Retriever and a German Mastiff — were taken into custody and released after fines were paid.
The enforcement and dog-catching teams, along with other municipal staff, took part in the operation.
Some residents attempted to avoid inspection or persuade officials, while others showed proper documents such as licences and vaccination certificates. LMC officials said that notices would be issued to those who avoided the verification. LMC estimates around 10,000 pet dogs in the city. As per rules, a dog licence is required and is given only after submission of a rabies vaccination certificate and an affidavit confirming compliance with the Dog Control By-laws, 2003.

Five of bike theft gang active in Indore, Dewas held
Indore: Lasudia police have busted a notorious gang of motorcycle thieves active in Indore and Dewas with the arrest of five people. Also, 34 stolen motorcycles worth Rs 22 lakh, were recovered from them. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Additional DCP Amrendra Singh said that acting on specific input, police arrested five persons involved in a series of two-wheeler thefts reported at several police stations in Indore and Dewas. During the operation, police also seized equipment used to tamper with engine and chassis numbers, along with three motorcycles that were already altered with fake identification numbers. The gang members, who learned motorcycle theft techniques from a Kanjar settlement at Piplarawa in Dewas, initially stashed the stolen vehicles in abandoned buildings and isolated spots within the city before delivering them to buyers based on demand. The accused used tools such as grinders, gas lighters, chisels, and specialised dyes to erase original numbers and stamp. So far, 19 FIRs were linked to the recovered motorcycles. ACP Aditya Patel said a team led by inspector Taresh Soni began intelligence gathering after receiving alerts on July 13 about a gang operating in Lasudia area and across Indore using Kanjar-style methods of bike theft. On the same day, two gang members — Abhishek Malviya (22) and Kailash alias Golu (24) — were arrested near Scheme 136 with a stolen bike and an illegal knife. Both sustained minor injuries while trying to flee. During questioning, the duo revealed that they were trained in Piplarawa and were active in thefts over the past couple of years. They confessed to selling bikes on demand, especially to one Jenpal Singh Sendhav (39) of Talod village, who was also arrested for buying and reselling the stolen motorcycles in rural markets, Patel said. The ACP said later, two more accused — Rahul Malviya (23) and Anil Panwar (22)— both involved in the theft and modification of the bikes were arrested. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The accused revealed that they would cut ignition wires, hot-wire motorcycles parked in isolated places, and later hide them in vacant property until a buyer placed an order. Each of the accused played a specific role ranging from theft to tampering and selling. The massive haul includes vehicles registered in police cases across Lasudia, Vijay Nagar, Heera Nagar, Kanadia, Khajrana, Tilak Nagar, and several police stations in Dewas district.
