Kevin Spacey calls for release of Epstein files
In a Tuesday morning post on X, Spacey called for the release of the files, adding that the 'truth can't come soon enough.'
'Release the Epstein files. All of them,' he wrote. 'For those of us with nothing to fear, the truth can't come soon enough.
'I hate to make this about me — but the media already has,' he added.
In January 2024, over 150 names associated with Epstein were released as part of a lawsuit against his partner, Ghislaine Maxwell, which was filed in 2015. Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2022 for assisting Epstein in his alleged sex trafficking operation involving underage girls.
Powerful political figures and entertainers, including former President Bill Clinton, President Donald Trump, Prince Andrew, Michael Jackson, Leonardo DiCaprio and Cameron Diaz were listed in the files along with Spacey.
Spacey, as well as many others listed in the files, have repeatedly denied allegations of working with Epstein and Maxwell.
Spacey's call for the files' release comes after the Trump administration's doubling down on findings released last week that concluded Epstein did not keep a client list and that his 2019 death was due to suicide.
The 65-year-old Academy Award winner has faced his own slew of controversy in recent years. In 2017, he was fired from the Netflix show 'House of Cards' following accusations that he sexually harassed actors and crew members.
Spacey was also charged criminally in 2022 by English prosecutors with sexually assaulting three men in separate incidents in 2005, 2008 and 2013, with additional charges later added. The jury later found Spacey not guilty on the charges.
Spacey was also found not liable for battery in a civil lawsuit brought against him by actor Anthony Rapp, who has alleged that Spacey made a sexual advance on him in the 1980s.

MASTER AND COMMANDER: FAR SIDE OF THE WORLD Finally Sets Sail on 4K Blu-ray with Steelbook Edition — GeekTyrant
Director Peter Weir's Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World is finally getting the 4K treatment it deserves, and it's arriving with a stunning Steelbook edition that feels tailor-made for collectors and naval warfare geeks alike. Released in 2003, Master and Commander is an adaptation of several of Patrick O'Brian's novels, set during the Napoleonic Wars in 1805. It stars Russell Crowe as Captain Jack 'Lucky Jack' Aubrey and Paul Bettany as ship's doctor and naturalist Stephen Maturin. While it earned 10 Academy Award nominations (including Best Picture), the film's legacy has grown over time, now celebrated as one of the most detailed and grounded historical epics ever made. Crowe himself famously came to the film's defense in 2021, clapping back at a post that mocked the movie for not being exciting enough. He wrote: 'That's the problem with kids these days. No focus. Peter Weir's film is brilliant. An exacting, detail oriented, epic tale of fidelity to Empire & service, regardless of the cost. Incredible cinematography by Russell Boyd & a majestic soundtrack. Definitely an adults movie.' This is a film that prizes character, realism, and atmosphere over spectacle. The bond between Aubrey and Maturin gives the movie its emotional core, and Weir's attention to detail, from naval tactics to period-accurate wardrobe, cements it as a film that rewards viewers who appreciate craft. The new 4K Blu-ray drops on August 5 and comes equipped with Dolby Vision HDR and Atmos audio. The Steelbook packaging is also a highlight: featuring an illustrated cover of Captain Aubrey, a compass rose design on the back, and a moody interior shot of Crowe braving stormy seas—it has the look of a weathered maritime journal pulled from a captain's quarters. Bonus features include: Deleted Scenes Historical and Geographical Trivia Track Pop-Up Map For fans who want to experience it how it was meant to be seen, 20th Century Studios is hosting a special one-night-only 4K theatrical screening at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood on August 1 as part of Beyond Fest. It's a rare chance to feel the full power of cannon fire and crashing waves on the big screen. If you already love this film, this release is a no-brainer. And if you've never seen it? Now's your chance to climb aboard.

Klobuchar defends Democrats for inaction on Epstein under Biden
Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) defended Democrats for jumping on Republican calls for the federal government to release files on convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, even though her party largely remained mum on the issue while former President Biden was in office. In an interview on CNN's 'State of the Union' with Jake Tapper, the Minnesota Democrat rejected President Trump's efforts to blame Democrats for inaction. 'The president blaming Democrats for this disaster, Jake, is like that CEO that got caught on camera blaming Coldplay,' Klobuchar said, referring to the latest so-called 'kiss cam' scandal. 'This is his making. He was president when Epstein got indicted for these charges and went to prison. He was president when Epstein committed suicide. And then there was another case, as you know, that continued during the Biden administration, but he was president back then, so all of us would believe they know what's in these documents. They know what's there. They've been claiming forever that they should be released,' she continued. 'It is a Trump administration that has made this promise that they're going to release it,' Klobuchar added, noting Attorney General Pam Bondi released binders described as the 'first phase' of the declassification of Epstein documents. Klobuchar emphasized that Democrats have not been as focused on the issue as Republicans have been. 'Blaming Democrats for this, to me, I'm sorry. This is- the people that have been fomenting this are right-wing influencers, members of Congress,' she said. 'People have a reason that they want to know what's in there. They believe the President when he said there's stuff in there that people should see. Wall Street Journal. These are not bastions of liberalism or wild progressives that have come out and said the public has a right to know what is in these documents,' she continued. Trump, in a Truth Social post on Friday, asked why the Democrats did not release the files linked to the disgraced financier when they controlled the Senate and White House. 'If there was a 'smoking gun' on Epstein, why didn't the Dems, who controlled the 'files' for four years, and had [former Attorney General Merrick] Garland and [ex-prosecutor Maureen] Comey in charge, use it,' Trump wrote on Truth Social. He added, 'BECAUSE THEY HAD NOTHING!!!' Trump earlier directed Bondi to release relevant grand jury testimony in Epstein's case. The directive, which has garnered mixed reactions, followed pressure from some of Trump's supporters and Democrats alike for the White House to disclose more information about its probe of the case.

Burchett says Bondi releasing Epstein grand jury files ‘will pretty much cover everything'
Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) applauded President Trump and Attorney General Pam Bondi for their plans to release relevant grand jury testimony in the case of sex offender and disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein after nationwide pressure to produce more information related to the case, saying the grand jury files 'will pretty much cover everything.' 'I applaud the president and Attorney General Bondi for wanting to release the grand jury files,' he said during a Sunday interview on ABC's 'This Week.' 'I believe that will pretty much cover everything.' Burchett, who last week slammed the findings from the Justice Department's (DOJ) report on Epstein, also warned that 'just because somebody flew on a plane doesn't mean they're a daggum pedophile.' 'I have a lot of wealthy friends, and they fly on people's planes. And their plane will be down, and they'll say, 'Hey, we're going somewhere, and we've got an extra seat, do you want to go?' And they don't even know the person on the plane,' he said. 'So, you know, that's one of the things I worry about too.' 'But I worry about some of those innocent names being out on that too as well,' he added. When asked whether unsealing the grand jury records is enough for him now, Burchett responded that it's 'a start.' 'I don't think we're ever going to get to the bottom of…all of it, ma'am,' he said, mentioning the assassination of late President John F. Kennedy and the 'magic bullet' theory, a debated theory put forward by the Warren Commission Report in the year after his assassination. That commission concluded that one of the bullets fired at the late president's limousine struck the president and hit Texas Gov. John B. Connally Jr. in multiple places. Burchett also accused the Biden administration of withholding the Epstein documents. 'I'd warn people too, now we're getting a hold of this stuff,' he said. 'What happened the last four years under the Biden administration?' Burchett previously suggested the Biden administration may have destroyed Epstein's client list. When asked again whether he thinks all the files should be released, Burchett clarified he does, but that he is warning not to release files 'that have innocent names on them,' such as people 'who were then children, now adults, that were abused by this dirtbag, Epstein.' Still, Burchett criticized Bondi's communication at the beginning of the DOJ's release of the files. 'I think her communication with us early on was not as good,' he said. 'I mean, the binder, for instance, that she put out, I was very excited about that. But then I found the contents of it. I think it was her limited knowledge and taking advice from the wrong people, which you do a lot of in Washington.' Bondi handed several binders of case files titled 'The Epstein Files: Phase 1' to conservative influencers at an event earlier this year and vowed to be transparent with the investigation into Epstein. Burchett's comments follow Trump's directive last Thursday to Bondi to release the grand jury files related to Epstein. Still, the president remains skeptical that the release of the files will quell the demand for more information on the case. 'It will always be more, more, more,' Trump wrote on Truth Social.
